General Tips:

YOLOL is important, learn some basic YOLOL code from the wiki, and understand how it interacts with device fields.

Lots of items/things can be hot swapped, meaning it doesnt have to directly bolted together to work.

Shipbuilding is hard at first, ask around the more experienced folks for some of their modules, lots of community discords from sb-creators.org that are listed have free stuff.

Being new is fine, welcome to Starbase, here's your trusty pickaxe, probably a free mining ship if you got with an org, and go that direction and collect stuff.

It's OK to be lost, ask lots and -lots- of questions, just pay attention. Lots of us who have stuck around have 1k+ hours in the game, with likely most of it being in the Editor.

Building Tips:

Structure is important, materials are important, and the rule of cool is also awesome. If you make boxy/square shapes at first, totally fine, if you're 800+ hours into the editor and can only make a square, you need to learn more :P

Simple is sometimes better, automate where you can.

Not always necessary to "Go Big or Go Home" all the time, ships usually fulfill ONE purpose really well, it's a massive success if it can fill TWO. 2+ is just excessive lets be honest (what i mean is 2+ roles/jobs)

Modules make life easy, also even saves YOLOL code, and device naming conventions, meaning if you have a cockpit you really like, you can use it all the time!

Blueprint Installation:

1. Download the blueprint, should always be a .fbe file (as of right now)

2. open file browser, no need to double click the .fbe, copy it for now.

3. type %Appdata% into your Windows File Browser at the top.

4. Navigate to Starbase

5. go to the folder called ssc -> autosave -> ship blueprints

6. paste your new ship file into there

7. rename the one you JUST pasted to the most RECENT autosave, (example: shifter.fbe -> ship_10890.fbe)

8. Open autosave in the SSC (editor) IN GAME

9. Open most recent autosave.

10. Save blueprint with naming scheme according to whatever the owner called it or make your own choices idk

NOTE: YOU WILL NOT HAVE AN AUTOSAVE FOLDER IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING IN THE EDITOR YET, JUST MESS AROUND IN THERE FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES

Oh yeah you can also export blueprints this way as well ;)

Safe Zone, And Leaving It.

Stations create their own safe zones, that includes ones you DEPLOY, as well as capitals.

The main difference on leaving, is ramming into stuff. Don't do that.

If you are using a friends capital:

Please bring at least ONE mining ship with you if you plan to stay a while, pay your way with Karnite + Ice + Exorium, that's fast travel fuel, the rest of the time most people aren't asking for everything you own, most of us are nice and won't take you hostage or anything for all that sweet, sweet ore.

Serious note, go with people you trust, and don't put things where you are afraid to lose them.

End:

If there is anything you personally would like to see added to this, seeing as no one has made anything for this game in a while, please let me know, we can discuss adding it.

Shilling out my own stuff since I put a tiny amount of effort into condensing resources:

SHIPWRIGHT CO.

WE ARE RECRUITING FOR NA/AUS, currently don't have an EU branch but come make it!

Thanks for reading!
