Intro & Quick Install Instructions

This mod pack combines a number of essential quality of life mods into an easy to use package. Overall, mods have helped to breathe fresh air into Darktide, fixing and correcting a number of areas where the base game is missing features or other quality of life improvements. This mod pack includes many of the most popular mods and other curated mods that will greatly enhance your Darktide experience. Enjoy!

Installation Process

First, you will need to download Mez's Mod Pack from the link below:

DOWNLOAD: Mez's Darktide Mod Pack[drive.google.com] (April 21, 2023 update, 1.1mb)

Once downloaded, installing this mod pack is a simple and quick 5-step process:

STEP #1: Unzip the Mez Mod Pack zip file into your Darktide folder

Darktide is typically located at: X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Warhammer 40,000 DARKTIDE\

Unzipping will add a "mod" folder to your game files (among other file additions).STEP #2: Run the "toggle_darktide_mods.bat" file located in your Darktide folder

This file modifies your Darktide.exe (executable) file to enable mods.

This file is located in your root Darktide folder (i.e. not inside any subfolders)

Accept the windows warnings (yes, this file is verified and safe)

IMPORTANT!! Whenever Darktide is officially patched, you will need to re-run this .bat file to re-enable mods.

If you experience any problems and want to disable all mods, running this .bat file again will disable mods completely.STEP #3: Load the game as you normally do!

STEP #4: Press F4 to configure mods in-game

Can enable/disable mods from within the Mod Options menu (access from the main menu or press F4 by default)STEP #5: Enjoy a greatly enhanced Darktide!

Mod Pack Contents

This section of the guide describes all the mods included in the Mod Pack and a quick summary of the mod and why's worth having in the pack. In some cases, I've given configuration recommendations. Overall, this selection of mods captures all of the most popular Quality of Life along with a few other noteworthy selections.

Links to the source of each individual mod are provided. Please give the modders some love/endorsements directly!

Base Mods

The mods below enable mods to be used in Darktide and/or are supporting mods that provide expanded mod framework functionality that other mods may be dependent on. All of these these are included for improved functionality and future-proofing.

Darktide Mod Loader[www.nexusmods.com]

This is, along with the Darktide Mod Framework (below) are the two core file sets that enable mods to work.

Darktide Mod Framework (DMF)[www.nexusmods.com]

The other essential file set to enable use of mods.

settings_extension[www.nexusmods.com]

Provides additional functionality to inject settings options into the game.

ui_extension[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows new UI elements from other mods to be added into the game.

animation_events[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows for certain animations (e.g. window pop ups and displays) to modified by mods.

graphics_options[www.nexusmods.com]

Not a base mod per se, but it expands graphic options to better fine tune performance of the game.

- Combat UI

Mods related to the user interface (UI) during a mission and relevant to combat.

NumericUI[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds additional, configurable, and detailed information to the combat Hud. Most notable, provides exact count and/or %-based count of ammo held by your teammates, timers on your ult ability, dodge counters, and more. Essential QoL mod!

Healthbars[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds health bars that can be enabled/disabled individually for each specific type of enemy.

Recommended Settings: I only use health bars for mutants, maulers and ogryns (bullwarks, crushers, reapers) to keep the visual clutter manageable. The health bars on other enemy types are less critical.

crosshair_hud[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds simple coherency indicators and health/toughness displays near your crosshair. The position of these can be adjusted.

NOTE: I've continued using an earlier version of this mod because it is simpler and less cumbersome to configure. I use the "simple" coherency indicators.

custom_hud[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to resize and reposition elements of the HUD. Hit F3 (by default) to enable configuration mode. Useful for putting key information closer and centered in your view (e.g. buff status icons)

crosshair_remap[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to adjust cross-hair styles on a per-weapon basis and when hip firing or aiming down the sights.

Recommended Settings: I've mainly used to this to add a simple "dot" to the center of my view when using weapons with iron sights. Helps aiming immensely given the iron sights are not well-centered.

player_outlines[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds the ability configure how other players are highlighted during missions.

Recommended Settings: I disable the normal "hologram" effect and enable permanent outline (glowing outline). Makes it much easier to identify your teammates during crowded fights as it is always visible.

PingMonitor[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds a ping display when you press TAB to view mission information.

- Gameplay Features

These are mods that add additional gmaeplay features and tools to the game.

scoreboard[www.nexusmods.com]

This adds a fairly comprehensive and configurable scoreboard to the game, viewable after the mission or pressing TAB during the mission. Also has options for additional kill feed details and notifications, such as when teammates pickup certain items, deploy gear, etc.

Recommended Settings: The mod includes an overall “score” and “sub score” calculation that is a large and cluttered looking, not to mention ambiguous in how it works. I disable the score calculation to keep the score board looking much cleaner. Makes it easier to read.

reroll_until_rarity[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to select a desired weapon or curio perk and tier level from the mod menu and then auto-roll at Hadron (refine crafting option) until the desired perk is rolled. Huge time saver and it goes very quickly! Just be mindful of your crafting material reserves.

creature_spawner[www.nexusmods.com]

This mod allows you to spawn and enable AI on any combination of enemies of your choosing in the test chamber. This is great for testing out equipment and defensive abilities in a live practice environmet.

Recommended Settings: To get started with testing, DISABLE enemy respawn (which will prevent the normal enemies from spawning in the test chamber) and ENABLE Enemy AI. I bind the left/right arrows keys to cycle through enemies and the up arrow key to spawn an enemy, and down arrow to clear all enemies. It's probably also worth binding keys to adding health and toughness (bindings are all in the mod's settings menu).

bot_spawner[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to spawn bots in the practice chamber. This is a nice compliment to creature_spawner as you'll be able to test teammate abilities, coherency effects, etc.

- Hotkeys & Controls

Darktide was missing (IMHO) a lot of basic hotkeys and control options in the game. The mods below expands on control and input functionality in many aspects of the game.

hub_hotkey_menus[www.nexusmods.com]

Add configurable hotkeys for accessing shops/mission board/etc in the hub without having to run all over the hub (boring!) to do basic stuff.

Recommended Settings: Requires setting up your key bindings in mod options. Try this: V = basic shop vendor, C = Crafting Shop (Hadron), K = Melks Shop, P = Psykanarium Test Chamber, M = Mission Terminal.

TagKeys[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds option to bind hotkeys for directly selecting comm wheel items (e.g. "Need Healing!"). It's a lot quicker than fussing around with the social wheel.

Recommended Settings: H = Need Health, T = Tag location

ShowEquippedInLobby[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds option to toggle between viewing ranged or melee weapons for all players while waiting in the lobby. Useful for seeing others’ loadouts and adjusting yours accordingly.

Tap2Dodge[www.nexusmods.com]

Vermintide 2 had this. What happened in Darktide? Adds the option to enable vermintide-style double tap sidestep/backwards to dodge in that direction.

PsykaniumInvHotkey[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds a hotkey ("I") in the practice chamber to open inventory without having to run to the chest in the middle or open the main menu first.

ForTheEmperor[www.nexusmods.com]

You say it first in Deep Rock Galactic. Now experience the magic in Darktide! Adds a shout option to the social/tag wheel to shout "For the Emperor!" or other similar lines on demand. Other players CAN hear this. So don't spam it.

- Quality Of Life

These mods add tweaks or other improvements to existing functionality, improving the quality of life for the player by saving you time, better organizing information/menus, and providing more information in-game.

reveal_blessings[www.nexusmods.com]

Shows a full listing of the blessings in the crafting menu available to an item (instead of the unknown "?") and simply fades out the blessings you don't currently have. So much better!

who_are_you[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds player's steam names after their character name so you can find them in social menu easier. Can be configured a few different ways based on what names you want to show up.

Perspectives[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to swap into 3rd person view during missions and/or into first person view in the hub. It's not the most effective actually fighting in 3rd person, but it's nice for snapping photos during the mission. I also like staying in first person in the hub!

ItemSorting[www.nexusmods.com]

Expands and remembers sorting options for item lists in your inventory and vendor shops. Sorting by Blessing Category (Grouped by Mark) is pretty excellent for more easily managing items IMHO.

DisableScreenEffects[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds a range of options to disable various screen effects (blood effects, blurs, peril, etc) in case any of those are causing discomfort for you.

BetterMelk[www.nexusmods.com]

Tweak to Melks shop that automatically gives you the completion bonus and contract progress without having the actually open his shop window. In the normal game, it's possible to not get the completion bonus if you logout after a mission without first going to his shop!

Penance Details[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds more detailed descriptions and counters for the exact requirements for penances. Makes it easier to track and plan your progress.

Ration Pack[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds a small floating indicator above deployed ammo crates displaying the remaining ammo refill charges left on the crate. Hugely useful for better ammo management.

SpectatorHUD[www.nexusmods.com]

Preserves HUD information (eg player health/status, notifications, Mildred, etc) while in spectator mode (i.e. when you're waiting to be revived). It's nice being able to follow what the heck is happening!

TruePeril[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds a more accurate peril meter. Note: Quelling peril actually happens in bigger chunks all at once, rather than smoothly dropping. This mod lets you accurately see those jumps so you can better manage your peril.

bugfix_loc_markers[www.nexusmods.com]

"Go Here" location markers correctly match player colors. A no brained.

PsykaniumDefaultDifficult[www.nexusmods.com]

Allows you to specify a default difficulty for the practice chamber and other options for quickly getting into the test chamber.

Nothing New[www.nexusmods.com]

This mod provides tools to clear out and remove broken or stuck "new items" indicators in your inventory (the yellow glowing dots). Thank god. Why hasn't this been officially fixed yet?!

pickup_notif_tweaker[www.nexusmods.com]

Removes (or allows you to configure) the huge crafting material pickups indicators that got added to the right side of the HUD in an official patch.

Recommended Settings: i suggest fully disabling these using this mod. The scoreboard mod add options to put pickup indicators in the killdeer notification area.

Blessings of the Omnissiah[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds indicators to all weapon blessings in inventory/shops for blessings available to extract. While this is somewhat duplicative with the official patch changes to the same effect, this mod makes it easier to parse items at a glance AND it provides an distinct indicator (orange color) when you have a higher tier version of a blessing already extracted, which is super useful.

sorted_mission_grid[www.nexusmods.com]

Better organizes the mission grid. Missions are grouped by difficulty and further by low/high intensity. Makes it less annoying to parse the mission board.

barter_with_hadron[www.nexusmods.com]

Adds the ability to sell items directly from Hadron's menu. Now you can quickly sell off all your bricked items. Yay!

LogMeIn[www.nexusmods.com]

Bypasses all the logon splash screens. Has options for automatically loading your last character into the hub and skipping the character select screen as well.

ChatBlock[www.nexusmods.com]

Makes it so that you auto-block during missions when you open the chat window, options menu, etc. Literal life saver.

CharWallets[www.nexusmods.com]

Shows resources and other details under each character during the select operative menu.

PreviewCosmetics[www.nexusmods.com]

Fully shows YOUR CHARACTER as the base model when previewing normal and premium cosmetics in the shops. This is HUGE, especially for premium cosmetics, to see how things will actually look and check for conflicts with hair/face and and clipping issues.
