Use A Grenade.
Use a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grenade. Save a grenade for it. Use a grenade even if you think you can get away without it.
Throw it at the downed player and start resurrecting them before it goes off, the explosion will stagger the enemies trying to break your block. Stop trying to get them up in horde without it. See someone down? Throw a grenade at them to help a teammate save them, make it an automatic response.
Other explosive/stagger devices work too, but the Preacher shock grenade is the best.
Please stop trying to rawdog the revive...
