You Don't.

Yes, that's right, you don't play team games. Because every second game you will have a leaver. He will leave because he lost his squad. He will leave because you didn't read his mind. He will leave because he got angry at you, wrote what you should do and you made him mad by doing exactly what you were told to do. He will leave, because he lost his flank. He will leave because someone else lost something. It will happen every other game. It will be VERY often.

Why

The game doesn't have normal leaver penalty. God knows when it enables for you, definitely not after the first leave. And it ramps up only until 40 minutes. Than it is over. No repeated offense penalty, no one ever was banned for leaving due to reports. Devs avoid the topic in Discord and Steam Discussions, no one cares. No one ever got banned. No plans to fix the situation.

But Is It That Bad?

Yes, it is. I swear there are days when you get three leavers in a row below 10 minute mark. Doesn't matter if you/opponent win or lose. These crybabies will find a reason.

The problem is of AT-RO-CI-O-US scale unseen before.

You thought your game was toxic and leavers are a problem there? I bet you are wrong.

Who Am I To Talk About It

I have 2000 hours+ in these games: Counter Strike, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege

I have between 500 and 1000 hours in each of these games: DotA 2, Hunt Showdown, Apex Legends, PUBG, Overwatch 2, CoD MW, CoD MW2 (remakes), Fortnite

I have 300-500 hours in these games: CoH, WC3, SC2, AoE2, AoE4, DoW3, BAR and many more.

In almost all games where there is such rank here I hover between diamond and master. So, you get the idea, I've spent plenty of my time in competitive modes.

This is a very quick list but you get the point. I know a thing or two about toxic communities.

I repeat. Leaver problem here is nothing like I've seen before in any of these games.

Why Those Other Games Are Not Like This

Because those other games even though considered toxic and braindamaging have devs who actually care about their product. Not because they are so cool and passionate, but because their games are played by HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS players.

Devs there get really big money and their games are covered by media. And played by people who played other games like this and expect certain things from them.

In most of those games that I listed that have solid competitive team-based scenes (basically only shooters) you get PUNISHED for leaving. Not by some ridiculous 40 min cooldown. They get CONSIDERABLY HIGHER cooldowns. They get BANNED.

You can get BANNED FOR MONTHS if you don't learn your lesson.

You can ♥♥♥♥♥ about League of Legends or Overwatch 2 or anything else about how they are toxic, how they are stupid, but in all of those games offenses get punished. And talking ♥♥♥♥ in the chat is the most overlooked offense in them. Griefing, leaving, staying AFK. If you pissed your team off, you get reported. If you do it several matches, you get banned TODAY. If you try this ♥♥♥♥ again after getting unbanned you are going to get BANNED FOR LONGER.

If you like to ♥♥♥♥ on your teammates experience you are going to have a lot of time to reconsider your habits while playing other games.

Thats how it should be done.

I feel disgusted to even launch the game in order to make for you a compilation of people leaving especially when it comes to looking at both teams.

But why even bother watching some stupid montage when you can just go to Discord/Steam Discussions and ask around?

You will not be disappointed. You will pick up the general notion in no time. Here is a gist of it.

Yes, these are all different people and all of them wrote something regarding the topic today. Yes, couple of comments are from a day before yesterday, but fresh messages from them don't really make sense without context of their previous comments. Anyway, you can check it out for yourself.

What's Going To Happen?

The game is going to die. Of course you can play the campaign with stupid bugs from release some of which may outright break your save. You can play 1v1s where you get opponents with 500 elo difference with you, because nobody plays this pile of garbage anymore and MM gotta find you some sort of opponent anyway.

If you know franchise, regardless of what gamemodes you enjoy, you know very well that team games were always a considerable part of the game. Well, that part is dead. And it will only continue to rot.
