Progression guide (1.0 version) image 1

Hello, within 900 hours of my playtime in the world of V rising I come to somewhat optimal playthrough for the basic game progression on server with standard settings - PvE. Author encourages not to use any guides of walkthroughs for the first time playthrough. Game is intuitive and has good ingame tutorial for everything you would need to beat it's final boss.

With 1.0 release managed to reach level 83 after first day and defeat Dracula on the second day (without beta access or spoilers) with usage of strategy describled in my previous guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3214062198

Overall progression did not change significantly up to tier 3 (second part of Gloomrot tier 2).

Tier1 Ilvl 0 - 30

After character creation, go through the cemetary, craft bone sword and bone ring. Go west Farbane entrance and head to the Alpha Wolf Den. On your way there collect 64 rugged hide and 96 bones. There always 4 wolves in the Wolf Den, so don't need to stress about hide too much (gives 40 and 10 bones). Try situating boss between the trees before ending him, so you get some free wood (around 1000). Should be easy on ilvl 10. Collect all materials, transform into wolf and head north to the Bandits Copper mine. Craft bone axes and bone mace.

During the entire way through Dunley farmlands there are couple important materials that might be useful later on. You will need for sure 2 crude amethyst for a mission quest and it is usualy bothersome to backtrack for it after you move from tier 1. All gems can be processed further into gem dust.

Below my usual route for tier 1 main bosses.

Try grabbing every chest on your way to the boss. If you have reinforced bone weapon (or lumberjack axe) you can mine copper by yourself. If not, you need to make Stonebreaker boss break copper veins for you. You need around 800 copper ore . Afterwards, equip chaos volley and head east to the Bandit logging camp.

You are looking for planks - should get around 12. Finish Rufus and head to the Bandit trapper camp to get rid of Kelly, the forst archer.

Check vendors on your way there - take a note of merc weapons and forge floor book. Scavenge for mats, needs at least 672 hide (for now) - caged animals are a good source of it.

Head to your future clastle heart location.

Place castle heart (240 stone, 30 blood), 3 floors (20 stone,3 blood), 3 palisades (80 wood 30 plant), coffin (180 wood) , blazer (180 stone), 2 stashes (150 wood each). I only leave castle heart and stashes, dismantle the rest.

Place sawmill (260 wood 80 stone) and 2 furnaces (480 stone 60 copper ore). Smelt all copper ore (800 ore = 40 copper bars). Construct simple workbench (8 plank 120 hide 80 stone) make bloodbone ring (16 blood), build tannery (160 hide 8 plank). You need 16 coarse thread and 32 leather (512 hide).

Processing leather takes time, can go for a horse if you are close to Dunley farmlands - just grab one and tp back.

Craft copper weapon (16 copper ingot 8 planks) - which one depends on which merc book do you have or aviable at vendor - do not craft crossbow for sure. Merc copper weapons are required to crack iron veins and harvest cotton - it's not required before tier 2/dunley - it's good to have if you are going there. Merc weapons aside from copper weapon, needs 2 gems, 4 leather and 12 wetstone - the latter is the hardest to obtain. If you need gems you can buy them from vendors (12 copper ea):

Speaking of vendors. There are 2 places you can find them in farbane. There is always a book merchant, mats merchant, gem merchant and potions/seeds merchant. It is very important to get FORGE FLOOR at some point before tier 2, and usualy you can get it at merchants for 70 copper coins. Usualy items rotate every 55 minutes, so if you don't have floor book yet you can check ever so often. From my experience the second book merchant can have different floor/potion books - it is worth checking both of them. Also vendors are good for potions too - if you have few spare copper coins, it is a good investment for most of the game.

At this point, you should get your full Nightstalker set with copper weapon - ilvl 27.

Important - after you get copper weapon you can mine sulfour - you will need 320 ore to smelt. I usualy go for random veins here and there.

If you feel confident you can go for a bear (on ilvl 27 with pots is quite easy) - collect 60 hell carrions while in a cave - will be helpful in the future.

Afterwards you will get bear form with which you can break large gates at Bandit Stronghold. For further developement you will need 16 wetstone - it can be easily found in Bandit stronghold (around ~10 in one rotation), Bandit armory (around 5), Bandit Encampment (east from Forgotten Cemetary, around 4). Quincey Bandit King is level 37 and is doable with pots and merc weapon - if you want some upgrades you can go for Goreswine (gravedigger ring - 12 grave dust 32 lilies), can get some grave dust at cemetary, other option is corpse pile and skeletal assasins. He is a traveling boss on following route:

After you kill Bandit King, with merc weapon you are more than ready to go for dunley farmlands. Process stone and wood so you have at least 88 brick and 48 planks for tier 2.

Upgrade castle heart to lvl 2 with 12 copper bars and 12 leather.

Tier 2 Ilvl 30-56

Tier 2 consists of a long farming/processing part: iron + cotton for iron weapon and hollowfang armour set. Due to the fact that Dawnthorn set recipy was moved to the boss in tier 3, killing Octavian is not mandatory anymore. Yet, it is good to get some levels before tier 3.

Iron weapon + hollowfang set.

12 cotton yarn + 8 wool thread for one piece of armour

12 iron bars + 8 planks for iron weapon

In order to produce Iron weapons you need smithy (32 iron bars 16 sulphur 200 blood) - should have enough sulphur from tier 1, with iron you need ~1000 iron ore to process (which takes a lot of time). Can use more smelters. Usual root that I make is kill Beatrice, ransack that village, go to haunted mine collect 1200 iron ore and check if Kriig fought with Meredith (usualy Kriig wins and can get easy kill that can give you additional books). Destroy boxes on and check chests for weapon books.

I build 4x4 castle with forge flooring and smelt all of the iron.

While iron is getting processed, I usualy go for cotton farms (black arrow route), and collect ~1400 cotton + 120 sunflower + rest of the wool threads. Going through the route should give you also access to all Dunley waygates. It is a good idea to trash boxes next to the Farmers Market for easy mats too. Return to your castle, put on bear form (has higher garlic res - it takes less time to get rid of it, can also make a cape). Pack every piece of cotton into a loom. You will need Tailoring Bench.

It takes some time to get rid off all of the garlic stacks, as well as process everything - I like to continue doing the main quests until I get the dominate human power. It takes some time to process servant too. If my stacks went to around 30-40 I go for Grayson for wetstone recipy (plus workshop floor) and if you don't have at this point 48 wetstone (36 with forge floor), it's a good idea to farm some of copper.

With all of that said, you should have enough materials for hollowfang set and iron weapon which would make you ilvl 41/44.

For the next jewellery upgrade you need 12 scourge stones - which takes wetstones and grave dust to make (4/4 for 1). It is good to make t2 cape at this point if you have spare yarn- since you might need some silver coins too.

Since I like doing all of the mid bosses of Dunley at once, prepeare some potions from farbane vendor and head to Maja. I like doing Maja, Leandra, Vincent in that order (you need daytime to fight the latter). If you got some space left can head to military outpost for some easy loot (especially glass and reinforced planks). It is a good idea to prepare some room with workshop floor for reinforced planks refinment.

With this upgrade you should be ilvl 50.

At this point none of the bosses are mandatory in tier 2 region but would recommend some upgrades before going next tier. The easiest way to increase your overall lvl is to get merc iron weapon (1 regular gem 4 greater blood 4 reinforced pank) + merc pendant (4 regular gems 16 glass). If you got unlucky and did not find any weapon/pendant books, need to get human desguise and some silver coins. Usualy going through couple of vilages gives you some silver.

Book drops are random and the only certain way to get proper gear is to visit the dunley Farmers Market. You will need to kill Bane beforehand for disguise ability.

Prices are following:

Merc iron weapons 64 silver (always 3 options)

Merc pendant 64 silver (always 2 options)With t2 cape (15 silver resistance) 75 silver does not hurt your character, 128 silver coins kilils you slowly - but you should make it from teleport to the book vendor (you can teleport with currency). Silver dmg does not break your disguise. If you want Hollowfang armour, remember that one piece costs 8 thick leather and 4 iron bars. For thick leather you need to kill Frostmaw in Hallowed Mountains.

After gaining ability to dominate human, it is good to get at least one prison cell (8 iron bar 2 reinforced). Getting 90% blood quality prisoner is a big boost for your character and makes your progression easier. Can get also Dusk Caller (4 Scourge 60 Hell's Carrion) to teleport dominated humans directly to your prison cell - only with alchemy table.

With level 56 we are ready to travel into the gloomrot and cursed forest.

Tier3 Ilvl 56 - 65

Progression guide (1.0 version) image 58
Progression guide (1.0 version) image 59

Ttier 3 consist of hardcore farming session - requirements for Dawnthorn armour set is 32 silk 48 pristine leather. For this upgrade it is needed to collect 1000 pristine hide 1000 mutant grease 64 silk worms 64 cloth. If you are cloth short you can produce it from leftover leathers + grass.

If you have tailoring floor - required materials are almost halved. Need only 540 grease/pristine hide and only 36 silkworms/cloth. The floor book costs 64 silver at the vendor, but it might be very rare to show up. Usualy there is a decor book instead of floor one - and there are 2 floor books in tier 2 research. Good luck with hitting that one.

Other strategy is to get just half the gear, which will result in lvl 60 - the issue with this one is further farming tier 4 city is a nightmare without proper gear.

Dawnthorn armour set - 48 Pristine Leather 32 Silk

Due to the change in progression, for dawnthorn recipy you need to kill Angram The Purifier in Gloomrot - level 61. He is trivial if you clean up the Pools of Rebirth first and use aoe spells since they don't trigger his shield. Watch out for his punch too. Since you are in gloomrot it is nice to collect 300+ Tech Scrap and mutant grease. Look also for Radium Alloy, Canisters and Sulphur. Mutated animals roam around yellow pools and attack houses near them. Can check inside sulphur mine too for easy chests and loot.Since this area used to be part of larger tier 2, books for Study also drops in Gloomrot south and Cursed Forest.

After returning from excursion, head towards the Cursed Forest - spider cave.

How it usualy goes for me is that I clear all of the cocoons/ spiders inside of spider cave - seems that drop rate for silkworms were increased since last update and one cave clear is enough. Ungora the Spider Queen is difficult underleveled so I use strat with Frost Shield and aftershock/chaos volley/corpse explosion. It is a good idea to pot beforehand. You need to kill Ben the Old Wanderer for Pristine leather recipy - track him with Vblood indicator and hope for the best. Craft Shroud of The forest too (can be done from inventory).

Afterwards I like to mark western ramp to gloomrot and go hunt for 1000 pristine leather - can get a bunch from stalkers, bears, wolves and frogs. Stalkers can hurt a lot at this point in the game.

Make sure you reach eastern teleport for future.

After that if you did not collect 1000 grease before, go to gloomrot and farm some mutants.

If you do not have enough space go through Cursed Forest cave passage - you will get out next to the sulphour mine western farbane. It is good to kill Clive the Firestarter whenever you are using this passage for the first time. You will need alchemy table in the future. Process everything in tannery/loom.

The other strat for silkworms is to produce them in Vermin nest (360 stone 80 bone) - can have up to 4 - with 1 fishbone 16 mutant grease produces 6 silkworms - for 60 need 10 bone 160 grease - which seems reasonable. Fishbones are a random t1-4 drop or can be obtained from processed fish in a blood press. Can also produce Mutated Rats with 4 grave dust 1 Sludge container (will yield 60 grease).

While processing mats, I usualy go for Ziva the engie for fabricator and Domina for Enchanced Grinder. Gather 600 tech scrap while you are there, 400 sulphur ore and 100 additional grease.

If you are running low on iron, visit Iron Cave (north-west from Dunley market) but watch out for golems there or visit Meredith in Haunted Cave. Holy potion recipy is required for tier 4 boss. Other strategy is to ransack Cursed Forest vilages on cooldown - can have ~30 iron ingots. Container respawn is about 6 minutes (don't quote me on that), so can get quite a nice amount every raid.

With merc pendant, weapon and Dawnthorn set you should be lvl 65 and ready for Cyril and Faulrot. While you are there, collect 600 ghost crystal, scourgestone, ghost dust and every piece of ghost shroom you can get.

With Cyril dead (again), it is time for the final part of playthrough (Yay).

To prepare well for the final tier, I would advise to get additional bosses and build some other infrustructure.

Need to kill Jade for Advanced Blood Press and if don't have enough Exquisite Hearts (4) or Greater Blood (8) It is a good idea to hunt down Tristan too (for Greater Blood recipy - you will need more primal blood in the future). In addition, if you don't have enough glass you can visit Grethel in Dunley and farm some quartz - it will be needed for Radium production and Healing pots. It would be a great time to start your garden too - hopefuly you have enough seeds at this point - farm plots requires only grass to make. Potions are nice and easy way to improve your character - need an alchemy table for that - visit Clive. At some point would be great to get bigger bag too - hunt down Lydia in Farbane and Wilhelm Werewolf for it (requires 12 pristine leather - it is quite a lot at this point). Goreswine is needed for bone dust recipy - if you have issues with scourge. Produce Dusk Caller at Alchemy Table (4 scourge 60 Hell's Carrion) and construct additional Prison Cell (8 Iron bar 2 Reinforced).

Last chapter can be clearly divided by gear upgrade and your overall level increase.

DARKSILVER WEAPON - ILVL 70

Starting from Darksilver weapon, you need to construct Anvil and Advanced Furnace. Produce at least 5 Sludge Containers in Fabricator, process it afterwards in furnace. 20 radium should be enough for this and next gear improvement. Put into grinder at least 16 scourge ~600 ghost crystal (64 spectral) and head to the northern region of Silverlight Hills - Silver Mine. You need to mine at least 320 silver ore for first batch of Dark Silver Ingots - watch out for silver poisoning. You can fight Sir Magnus there for a nice cloak. Silver mines is a good area for additional mats like reinforced planks and schematics. You will need these in a near future. Grab everything that is not nailed down and head out of the mines.

Silverhills area is packed with patrols, so I tend to travel with usage of cave system to teleport right to the very eastern part of Farbane. It will be used very frequently in the future and can shorten travel time significantly. Afterwards, pack all silver and spectral into a furnace, choose a weapon and get ready for the next battle with your brand new Darksilver Weapon.

BLOOD MERLOT AMULET - ILVL 74

Fighting Baron on level should be easy enough. Ransack whole place, get at least 500 Sacred Grapes and head to fight Mairwyn (Emberleaf Grove). It is a good idea to fight her during the night. At this point I go and fight Henry Blackbrew in Gloomrot North (Transcendum Labs) and Matka in Cursed Forest (Nest of the Curse Weaver). For Henry fight - don't hit his counter, every hit you take puts debuff on you that makes you receive more dmg - so don't get hit. In his push phase try using ults that makes you stand still and time your dash. During Matka fight watch out for the green returning projectile - if you get hit, it will spawn 3 exploding pools under you. Also you can iframe her polymorph (with great sword or slashers). At this point you need to stack some serious amount of ghost shrooms for futher armour upgrade (256 to be exact). Can grab them gradually, especially that you can teleport with them freely. They are scattered around whole Cursed Forst, but you can find most of them around Matka arena, witch huts (killing Witches can drop them too) and Lair of the Behemoth (usualy 4-6 plants). Do not anger Behemoth... yet. Cursed wood can yield some amount while processed. Extract blood merlot from prisoner, should have enough materials to craft amulet.

NEW ARMOUR SET - ILVL 77

You need to build advanced loom - pack 256 ghost shrooms, 64 wool thread and all yarn you have. And for the love of god get tailoring floor cause would almost cut in half required materials. In addition to ghost yarn you need also a primal blood for each piece of armour. Also you need to grind books, and a lot of schematics too.

Grind, grind never changes. Dawnthron armour set can be upgraded into 4 different sets, each requiering certain books to be fully completed. For full armour set description check chapter below. It is also possible to finish the game with armour set containting piece from each set. It is up to you if you want to grind for a perfect build or speedrun to the end boss. I do not mind the grind, since I like playing the last part of the game with great sword.

I farm Brighthaven until I get amulet book, armour books, 50 gold chains, 260 goldsun coins (or a weapon book). The usual route I take is from northern gate checking 3 houses for chests and destroying every piece of box I can reach with my sword. Enemies and chests respawn every day/night cycle - I am checking the shop if I have enough coins (for prices look chapter below). Whenever I got my inventory full I travel through the cave system and repeat. Checking from time to time gloomrot vendor for weapon book. Whenever I got enough research I move to the next upgrade.

SANGUINE WEAPON- ILVL 80

Produce 2 holy resistant flasks at Alchemy table and head out to the Brighthaven Cathedral. You need proper amount of holy resistance to enter that place. It has couple of tough enemies as well as couple of boxes. Fighting Azariel should not be an issue at this lvl, watch out for his projectiles (use frost shield for good damage). After achieving Gold Ingot recipy, smelt 12 bars and upgrade your Darksilver weapon into Sanguine variant.

AMULET- ILVL 83

Voltatia and Ogre should be a joke at this point. What is not funny is the amount of materials you need for amulet upgrade. Hopefully you have a room with Jeweller's floor and Artisan table. If not, you need 48 Radium (720 tech scrap + 48 Sulphur + 12 Containers [48 grease 48 glass 12 iron bar]) plus 24 charged batteries. Scrap and batteries can be easily found in transcendum camps in north gloomrot. Walkers can be destroyed to get 1-2 of dead batteries, there are couple at the charging stations and next to the Power Plant entrance. So far you don't need Advanced Tannery.

Tier4 Ilvl 83-91

Progression guide (1.0 version) image 101
Progression guide (1.0 version) image 102

SHATTERED WEAPONS- ILVL 87

You need to finally kill Octavian for the next upgrade (requires Ancestral Forge). You will also need to kill good old Styx, which moved to the Dracula's Demise. Get all of the blood crystals when you are at it. Do not worry about bat leather yet. The next section requires you to farm time gated mechanic which is located in Mortium. Every hour or so some of the regions will light up and you will be able to do Mortium rift mechanic. Go for the big boy rifts only (red ones) and collect 1700 Greater Stygian Shards and couple stacks of bat leather. Buy shattered weapon of your choosing and start malding how much you will need to farm still. The upgrade required 4 onyx tears as well as Blood key which also requires 4 Onyx Tears. With floor numbers look better, but still need do to more grind afterwards for last Amulet. There is only one upgrade left - armour.

Fighting Gorecrusher or Valencia is not mandatory before getting shattered weapons. With or without upgraded weapon you can attempt Behemoth in Cursed Forest - would advise fighting it in it's lair. Fighting Behemoth in his lair is an advantage for you - no need to fight additional monsters or avoid sun. Wait for his twin to spawn and use ult to eliminate it quickly. Valencia fight is also quite straight forward - use frost shield for her cone flurry attack for a big chunk of damage, rotate clockwishe around the arena and try to ult iron maiden when spawned. Using ball of lightning can help with destroying it.

Afterwards, you can build Advanced Tannery and prepare for the next farming session.

Materials needed for the last part of a game

Each of the shard bosses give you one piece of an armour set recipy - each costing 12 Shadow Weave 12 Bat leather. After couple of calculations (without floor) 1 armour piece costs:

24 cotton yarn

192 ghost shrooms

48 wool thread

48 silkworm

48 cloth

480 grease

480 pristine hide

120 bat hide

For comparison resources needed for 4 armour pieces without and with floor:

Resource No Floor Yes Floor Cotton yarn 92 54 Ghost shrooms 768 342 Wool thread 192 81 Silkworm 192 81 Cloth 192 81 Mutant Grease 1920 810 Pristine Hide 1920 810 Bat Hide 480 270

Basice resources needed for Blood Key with and without proper floors:

Resource No Floor Yes Floor Gold chains 64 27 Sulphur 80 33 Tech scrap 960 360 Mutant Grese 64 24 Glass 64 24 Iron Ingot 16 8 Battery 32 15 Blood Crystal 480 270

Cost of EMP production without and with floor:

Resource No Floor Yes Floor Iron Ingot 16 12 Tech Scrap 240 135 Sulphur 16 9 Mutant Grease 16 9 Glass 16 9 Battery 8 6

So 4 pieces of armour costs 2x as much as Dawnthorn + additional materials. At this point should be clear how much Tailoring/Forge/Jeweller's floor can matter and how important it is to use it. Farming silkworms, pristine hide and mutant grease is possible with Vermin Nest, as long as you have enough materials for it (fishbone, Plague Bearer, grease, glass and iron). You can farm mutated rats (6x10 grease) as long as you have glass for Sludge Container - you can get as much grease as possible with it. With that you can farm silkworms if got enough fishbones (6 silkworms for 1 fishbone). Would not expect you to have great amounts of Plague Bearer (40 for 60 pristine hide) - since it only grows in Gloomrot. For this strat it is good to have Alchemy Floor too.

But basically without cost of repairs/pots these are the numbers to reach highest level in the game after beating last boss with intended progression route - if did not ommit anything.

Since you know how much you need to gather and process before attempting the great 4 - you should be free to do it.

Just start with Winged Horror East of Farbane (The Dreaded Peak) - it is easy with a good spell build + pots. Remember to start during the begining of the night too. Pack some health pots just in case and always remember to gring good quality blood. Yip for this fight: whenever he dashes in your direction, there is a small space between him and 2 balls which can be used to avoid him. Bringing clense for this fight is great too since it removes the burn debuff (some of the jewells has them).

(I will proly put some video here).

Next on the chopping block is Solarus residing in The Fortress of Light - need Holy Flask before fighting him. Equip frost shield and some offensive spell. Kill him, kill angel, kill him again. Done.

(I will proly put some video here).

For the Adam fight you need at least 1 emp to open the entrance (2 if you are carrying resources). For the first phase, try not getting grabbed. Some people tries to run him with counter and slashers, I enjoy fighting him with great sword. In the first phase iframe his stomp, avoid his grab. Try getting into his rythm if you are fighting up close - left right left of him. Second phase imo is easier - just destroy lasers, kite him and use range spells. I did him with no buffs some time ago during gloomrot update so this video can be helpful:

Now for the big bad one. You need a Blood Key to pass throught the gate to him (can change Amulet to your usual one afterwards). I strongly recommend frost shield + offensive spell again this fight. Shield can put out a lot of damage during his red ring phase - block projectiles. Can also block his spinning boomerang red blades. In phase 2 it is a great tool to black his 4 front slashes. It is the best boss fight imo in the game - it is fluent and well telegraphed. Not much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happening in standard version.

I got video dating back to the second day after 1.0 release so you can watch it:

Plus video from Brutal version (only 2 phases in standard one).

With this said, there is not much to kill in the world of Vardoran. Hope you enjoyed your tour and see you again in the future updates - hopefuly.

Peace!

Notes After Completed Runs

Run 13-11-2024

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ungora 3:36:00 dead on ilvl 53, Angram dead on ilvl 53.

Early merc iron axes drop heleped a lot.

Good silver coin source is cursed village and Werewolf village.

Buy a neck book that you have gems for.

Not having lvl 56 and trying to get Ben is a suicide and backfired terribly - you don't get Vblood instinct at 53.

Doing endgame bosses is possible on ilvl 83 (no last tier of armour or shatered weapon)

You can get 200+ greater stygian shards from Dracula's castle garden.

Good source of regular gems is bedrock pass.

Full clear of Pools of Rebirth gives you ~600 grease.

Getting aditional 2k of iron ore from iron cave was enough.

Getting 1k5 sulphur ore was enough.

Never had issues with glass (did not touch quartz quarry).

1 Rotation of ghost shrooms gave ~200

Can carry up to 80 silver or 400 silver ore with 15 resistance (tier 2 cloak)

Drop equipement next to Silverlight shop and bring additional coins for 160 gold purchase.

Can make Silver potion with 40 Plague Brier.

Need to interact with servant to push quest further (not only summon it).

T3 Castle upgrade requires glass and reinforced

Might be a good idea to change Castle spot.

Can't make Grave Dust without Goreswine

Maja and Leandra on 41 was easy with pots.

One plot gives 10 roses - may be a better idea to farm Polora.

Aim for 40 charged batteries - was enough after Onyx drop.

Adam is a ♥♥♥♥ (used blood rage + ball lightning)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
