After joining a game you will greeted with the following screen

This is where you choose your character. Theres a few things to take note of, at the top there are 4 tabs, this indicates the tier the unit is, there are 4 tiers, Recruit, Soldier, Elite, and finally Hero. Within each tier there are some further classifications.

Below each tier you may notice a symbol, this indicates what type of unit the class is, all units are catergorized into 4 classes, Melee, Ranged, Cav, and Support, most of these are pretty simple but we will discuss support classes at the end of this section.

Finally, each unit belongs to a faction, in the above image, we can see 2 factions the troops fall into, Triaxion League and Council of Nestorious. The factions are only really important when receiving buffs as certain units will only buff units of the same faction. We will look more into this when talking about support troops.

Recruits vs Soldiers As you may imagine from looking the prices, Elite and Hero units are better than soldier and recruit units, hence the price, but what about Recruits vs Soldiers? Both are free so which should you choose? Lets take a look at similar Recruit and Soldier units and look at the differences.

Here we have a basic Nord Recruit unit

and heres a basic Nord Soldier unit

We can see that the recruit starts out with some weak armor for free while the soldier is naked. If look at the prices for equipment of each unit we can see further differences.

As shown above, the Recruit comes with much cheaper equipment for the same protection. Recruits also refund you the cost of the unit when you die, as to not make you lose all your money after dying.

So what about the Soldier? The benefit of the Soldier class is higher stats in general to their recruit counterparts (things such as 1/2 handed and traits such as Power Strike) they also usually come with slightly higher health. The major downside is when you die. If you had earned more money than the cost of your soldiers equipment, you will not get a refund on your equipment. This is a bit confusing so heres an example.

EX) If a person who went recruit paid 3k for their equipment dies while having 10k stored, then the cost of the equipment is refunded and they have a total of 13k to choose their next unit. The player gets a refund no matter how much gold they have stored.

EX) If a person who went Soldier paid 5k for their equipment dies while having 1k stored, the cost of the equipement is refunded, leaving them with 5k, enough to choose the same unit when they re-spawn. If the player had 10k when they died, they do not get any refund and will still have 10k.

Whichever you choose to start out as depends on your playstyle, as a beginner I would recommend a recruit as they offer more forgiveness to dying frequently.

ElitesThere is not much to say about Elites, they work the same to Soldiers in how gold is refunded. You may think of Elites as buffed up soldiers, they have higher stats, better equipment, and better traits then Soldiers, they also come with higher health.

HeroesHeroes are the most expensive and most powerful units in the game, on top of having higher stats than elites they buff Recruit, Soldier, and Elite units depending on the character.

As shown in the image above, Heroes are special from other units in that there can only be one person using same hero at any given point. Unlike, the Soldier and Elite units, dying as a hero will only refund HALF the cost of the Hero. They also come with an ability that is activated by holding "C". These abilities take several rounds to recharge and should be used sparingly. A decription of the ability can be found by clicking on it and it will take you to a screen similar to below.

Support Units

As said in the beginning of the section, the 4 classes of units are melee, ranged, cav, and support. Support troops are found in the righmost column of the troop selection screen as shown above.Support troops differ from the rest in that their primary goal is go give buffs to other troops.

As shown above, the flag gives Athenian troops increased ranged damage, speed, and health. The way these troops work is they must buy a flag weapon such as the one shown above and they must have it equipped at all times in order for the buff to be active. You can tell whether a buff is active by looking at the rightmost corner of your screen as shown below. There you can see a shoe icon, and bow icon and a cross, all indicating a buff is active for corresponding faction. A further way tell if a buff is active is by looking for special icons on top of players heads, when a player is influinced by your buff, they will have a special blue symbol above their head.

One you are in the game and playing, there are a few things you're going to want to know.

BedsBeds are scattered throughout the maps for healing, these can be found in the form such as in the above image, but they can also take the form of couches, or a traditional mattress depending on the map. Hold "F" at these beds and your health will slowly be restored.

QuiversIf you're an archer, gunner, or have any type of throwing weapon you will eventually run out of ammo. Throughout all the maps are quivers scattered about looking similar to the image above. Simply hold "F" while looking at one and you're ammo is restored to full.

AnvilsIf you use a shield, and rather than grab them off the corpses of your slaughtered enemies, you would rather repair it, you can do so at the anvils scattered about. Similarly holding "F" will repair your shield to full health.

CabinetsEventually as you earn money you will want to upgrade your equipment or switch classes, this is where the cabinet comes in. Simply press escape, change your class or loadout, make sure you can afford it, and simply hold "F" to change class/loadout.

ChestChest such as the ones above allow you to buy a random weapon or shield, these have a chance to have a modifier on them on boost their stats similar to native, but they also have an even lower chance to give a legendary weapon.

As stated earlier, legendary weapons can be found randomly in chest, but can also be bought using a special star chest for a whopping 30k. These are the best weapons in the game, generally surpassing even special hero weapons. Simply hold "F" and choose what kind of weapon you want.

Here is a spreadsheet that gives a list of all the legendary weapons.

Reducing Loading TimesThe initial loading screen can be shortened by a large amount by increasing the max fps to 999.

In-Game Settings

By default these are all off, I recommend turning them all on. These can be found under the "Mod options" menu when pressing escape.

CrashesFull Invasion is a very large mod, as such it can also be unstable at times, particularly when changing maps. There are a few tweaks that can be done to reduce this issue.

When starting the game enter the settings as shown below.

Disabling music and sound variation is a very simple way to reduce crashes. In the event that this doesn't help, lowering the in-game graphics from inside the game would be the next step.

It is worth noting that crashes do not seem to be an issue on Linux and is a Windows specific issue.

Cannot Change ClassAt times, most commonly when attempting to upgrade from a soldier tier unit to elite or hero, you may find that the wardrobe does not switch you to your desired class. This can alleviated by switching first to a recruit tier unit and then again attempting to switch to the desired elite/hero unit.

Cannot attackAt times, particularly when it is a heavy/laggy round, you may find yourself unable to attack. If this happens, refreshing your character at a wardrobe, or waiting for the round to end and hitting the 'refresh character" button after pressing escape will most likely solve the issue.
