Reduce stuttering - permanent ER and EAC process priority settings

Apply The Registry Edits

Copy this code and paste it in an empty text file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/eldenring.exe/PerfOptions] "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000003 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe/PerfOptions] "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000001

Save the text file as "Elden Ring registry.reg"

(or whatever name you want, as long as you make sure the actual file extension is .reg)

Double click the file to apply the registry edits.

(The system asks if you wish to continue, this is normal, just click Yes)

You may need to restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

That's it. You're done.

Remove The Registry Edits (optional)

Note: You can just keep the registry edits after you're done with the game (they don't affect any other process, so it won't matter whether they're there or not) but if you want to remove them for whatever reason just follow the instructions below.

Copy this code and paste it in an empty text file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/eldenring.exe/PerfOptions] "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000003 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe/PerfOptions] "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000001

Save the text file as "Elden Ring registry removal.reg"

(or whatever name you want, as long as you make sure the actual file extension is .reg)

Double click the file to apply the changes and remove the edits.

(The system asks if you wish to continue, this is normal, just click Yes)

You may need to restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

Brief Explanation And Final Notes

You might have already read around of potential stutter fixes that involve setting Elden Ring as High Priority and Easy Anti Cheat as Low Priority in the task manager, this code does it permanently while also saving you the time and hassle to go through the registry editor and manually create entries for Elden Ring's and Easy Anti Cheat's respective processes.

In my experience, this proved effective in reducing the stutter to some extent.

Results may vary depending on a myriad of factors, such as storage speed, GPU model, drivers versions and so on.

eldenring.exe and EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe are the names of the executables and processes affected by this fix.

The dword:xxxxxxxx part of the code is the actual CpuPriorityClass setting value. The provided code sets the value of High for Elden Ring and Low for Easy Anti Cheat.

These are the other possible values (for reference):

00000001 for Low

00000002 for Normal

00000003 for High

00000004 for RealTime (this value should be avoided no matter what)[devblogs.microsoft.com]

00000005 for Below Normal

00000006 for Above Normal

You may also want to experiment with Above Normal for eldenring.exe and Below Normal for EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe as well.

Although I already provided the code, the removal of the registry entries is easily achieved by adding a hyphen before the registry entry name.

I hope this little trick proves somewhat helpful to you.

Cheers!
