Dwarf Fortress - Ocean/River/Magma Sea Safest Tapper

Step By Step Method To Tap In An Ocean

The below image is a step-wise representation of the process.

The steps can be elaborated in short as follows:

Dig a channel beside the liquid body.

On this channel make a bridge. To prevent flooding make a bridge being this bridge.

Raise this bridge made behind for safety reasons. This is exceptionally critical. If the lock is opened under extreme pressure then instant game end flooding occurs.

Now with the bridge raised, a lock is formed. The main bridge is sleeping.

But, there is a slope beneath it. When the liquid border dig command is given, a dwarf will come and directly dig this border from the slope underneath the bridge. When they dig it, because they are below the bridge, may it be water, poisonus water, magma, the dwarf beneath is safe and won't die.

In steps 8 and 8 - A it is shown that the dwarf is digging the edge.

In steps 9 and 9 - A the fluid is flowing on the sleeping bridge.
