What Is Library For?
The library is a place where creatures discuss their experiences, professions and learn from each other. They can increase their experience from it and became a better worker. This is also a place for scholars. Scholars can write books from their experiences, professions and stories they know. Scholars and bards from around the world will meet in your library and share their experiences.
Types Of Knowledge
Historical knowledge - creatures visiting your library can learn about other regions, legends, creatures and artifacts, they will learn about them through reading and hearing rumors from travelers.
Artistic knowledge - creatures learn about it by watching speeches, performers and reading, thanks to it they can deepen their artistic qualities.
Academic knowledge - it is knowledge that is mainly gained through libraries where scholars discuss, study and research the topic of their choice. They create discoveries on these topics and write scrolls books about them. Topics can be learned from reading and from a teacher (who is more knowledgable in this topic). There are 9 topics in which creatues can educate themself :
mathematics, philosophy, history, geography, medical knowledge, natural sciences, astronomy, engineering, and chemistry. Knowledge of each of these topics is useful for individuals depending on their profession.
Secret Knowledge - can be achieved by reading or from another entity. The secret knowledge includes: Necromancy, when an individual follows this instruction he becomes a necromancer - an immortal being who knows the secrets about life and death, a magical being who can raise an undead army.

1. Start by creating a place for a library.

3. Build bookcases, tables and chairs, all of which can be built at a stoneworker, wood worker, metalworker and in a glass furnace.

Now select "new library".
5. By pressing "z" and selecting the library location, a new button with a magnifying glass will appear, allowing you to add scholars and scribes to your library.
- Scribes will make copies of books
6. In this panel you can also find the number of cabinets, tables, chairs, chests.
Dwarfs will keep blank scrolls and Codices in chests.
You can also select there how much writing materials you want to be in your library and how much written objects you want for each scribe.
There is also an option that will allow you to choose who you want to let into your library. If you want less migrants to come to your fortress, I recommend option "Citizens only" or "Citizens and long-term residents only"
7. Here you can find how to make scrolls and codices for your library step by step
