➤ MATCHMAKING ISSUES :
SOLUTIONS :
Some players may find it difficult to find players. There are a number of reasons why this could happen. And as mentioned above in the summary, the game has no servers and is a Peer-To-Peer connection. Which is nice in the long run. Games with servers, the developers eventually stop funding.
For most players, they experience no issues at all except maybe a common disconnect here and there. But that comes with a Peer-To-Peer connection. Maybe the host player raged and quit because they died. Or quit because the team wasn't following ping commands to hold a position. For the younger generation, it could even be their parents jumping on their case for being up so late and having to immediately jump off. (We've all been there.)
Again, as mentioned in the summary, this will not fix everyone's problem. Some players just flat out have no luck at all. It may be a simple fix or a solution they haven't tried yet. But most likely it's something on their end and not the developers.
SET MATCHMAKING TO PUBLIC :
This ones is quite obvious but should be mentioned. Otherwise, at mission launch, your team is made up with synthetic bots. ( Alpha / Beta } The only time you want to set this to private is when you already have a team of fellow marines and friends you want to play with without having randoms filling the open slots.
ENABLE CROSSPLAY :
With this feature update, steam players can now play with consoles and vice versa. Creating a bigger player base population. This includes PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
FORM A TEAM :
Join the Official Discord[discord.gg] , Groups and Community to find fellow marines and meet new friends to help you along your endeavor.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL :
Not all players immediately jump into difficulties, such as Extreme / Insane / Hardcore. Try switching up difficulty levels to find where the traffic could be more populated. If your looking for a challenge on lower difficulties, throw in a difficult challenge card everyone can agree on.
ENABLE CHALLENGE CARDS :
By default challenge cards are enabled and most players find it to be a great addition to game features. With it disabled, you will only be matched up with fellow players who also have it disabled.
RELAUNCH MISSION :
If you ever find yourself sitting and waiting. Close out Mission Lobby and Relaunch. Some players are in mission while others are getting ready.
I find at times the matchmaking system gets messed up. This fixes the glitch :
Exit To Title Screen > Continue Game > Relaunch Mission
➤ CRASHING / FPS / STARTUP ISSUES :
SOLUTIONS :The game crashing can vary but are mostly caused by graphical issues. Whether it's a crash at the start or in the middle of gameplay. I've only personally experienced one crash and it was when I was exceeding beyond the limits of awesomeness, the game just couldn't keep up. No, but really, it was when I was playing mission chapter "Only Way To Be Sure". There were a lot of heavy enemy population, particles, glossy walls, reflections from water on the ground and more.
Here is a list of causes and possible solutions.
GRAPHIC ISSUES :
There may be an incompatible problem in which you can refer to Graphical Issue Section to download the required Installs/Updates any game title needs in order to run.
CORRUPT / MISSING FILES :
You can verify the integrity of a game to make sure you have all game files and that any corrupt files can be repaired.
Right Click Game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity Of Game Files
Just wait for it to be completed and start the game.
DISABLE OVERLAYS :
On lower spec systems, overlays can use a lot of memory and process usage. You can see this in task manager while running a game. These include Steam, Geforce Experience, Discord, and Twitch. It can be turned off or disabled in the settings depending on which app you're using.
In Steam :
Right Click Game > Properties > General > Enable The Steam Overlay While In-Game (Disable)
SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN STEAM USER NAMES :
When loading a saved game with special characters, it can cause the game to crash.
In Steam :
Right Click Game > General > Steam Cloud (Disable)
Change Steam User Name
Hold Windows Key and hit S Key to open search.
Type %appdata% and hit Enter. This opens
AppData\Roaming\
In the Directory Bar Select Appdata to enter the appdata root folder. Locate and enter the Local Folder
In the Local Folder Select Endeavor Folder > Saved > Savegames and Delete Contents
Start Game and Create New Character.
DON'T OVERCLOCK / SET RECOMMENDED GRAPHIC SETTINGS :
Overclocking is when setting your GPU and CPU settings to their maximum limits. Usually, to gain frames per second on lower grade systems that can't handle newer games. This can shorten the lifespan of your system and cause frequent game crashing. You should always run default / recommended factory setting for your GPU and CPU.
Most GPU's and CPU's come with software where you can change the settings. I have NVIDIA and it comes with a Geforce Experience and a Control Panel. From the control panel, it allows me to change settings to my needs. Also, it shows what it recommends for each setting. The recommendations are really the standards for how much your GPU and CPU can handle.
Setting texture filtering to the highest is OK, but anything beyond recommended maybe pushing it. The only setting that is important to focus on is the Power Management Mode. Set to Prefer Maximum Performance to help fuel your GPU and CPU with maximum power when it's needed.
Also, it may not hurt to play with Threaded Optimization. This allows programs and games to utilize multiple CPU's that are available. This can be good and bad. Using Auto setting with new programs and games can utilize this in a good way if it's programmed to do so. On older programs and games, it can really put a lot of excess limits on your CPU. I have mine Set To Off because my graphics card has a better processor than the factory CPU.
NOTE : In general, you should have settings in graphics control panel to what is recommended or set to application controled. Application controlled allows programs and games to set the graphic settings. You then edit graphics in game / program settings
IN GAME GRAPHIC SETTINGS :
NOTE : If you you are still having low frames per second after installing / updating Windows / Direct X/ .Net Framework/ Visual C++ Redistributable, then you may want to lower Graphic Settings in game. Start with Ambient Occlusion, Shadows and Screen Space Reflections.
Direct X :
Maybe Direct X 11 runs more smoothly than Direct X 12. Or vice versa.
Full Screen :
Try windowed mode vs full screen.
MINIMIZE OPEN APPS / PROCESSES / SERVICES :
Hold Control Key and Alt Key and Press Delete. Select Task Manager.
By default, it'll open the Process Tab. Look for any Unnecessary Apps that can be closed and Select To Highlight each App. Click on Button labeled End Task
Select Startup Tab and Select To Hightlight any Apps you don't want to start and run when starting the computer. Enable / Disable as needed.
ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS :
Try running the game with administrative rights. Navigate to your installed game root folder, wherever that may be.
\Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens Fireteam Elite\
One Time Only :
Right Click Endeavor > Run As Administrator
Save This Setting :
Right Click Endeavor > Properties > Compatibility Tab > Check Box ( Run This Program As An Administrator ) > Click Apply And Ok To Save And Close
NOTE : If this didn't help. Try the same wiith Steam.
One Time Only :
Right Click Steam > Run As Administrator
Save This Setting :
Right Click Steam > Properties > Compatibility Tab > Check Box ( Run This Program As An Administrator ) > Click Apply And Ok To Save And Close
➤ FRIEND INVITE / DISCONNECT ISSUE :
SOLUTIONS :FRIEND INVITE :
You send the invite while you are both in separate hangars. Not while on a mission. One invites while the other accepts. Then you are connected in the same hangar. From here you gather supplies and decide what mission to play.
HOSTING / INVITE :
You also may want to try switching up who is hosting. Whoever has the better running system and network should be the one to host the missions or send the invite. Being a Peer-To-Peer connection and all.
MISSION COMPATIBILITY :
Make sure you're both playing a mission you both have unlocked. If you are further than your friend, you have to play where your friend is at to catch up to where you are.
DLC COMPATIBILITY :
If this is a DLC issue, you both have to own the DLC to play together in DLC missions.
MATCHING SETTINGS :
Make sure you and your friend have matching game settings. Crossplay on/off. Matchmaking public/private, Challenge Cards enabled/disabled.
FIREWALL :
Check your Firewall settings and make sure Aliens: Fireteam Elite is allowed there.
ANTIVIRUS :
Many Antivirus Real Time Protection blocks programs and connections from going in and out. Try excluding Aliens: Fireteam Elite in your Antivirus Settings.
