LOGISTICS
There is not much to discuss here Comrade, keep your supplies ready however you like, and your command units BRDM-2. If you have it available, you may use Infantry command units. That is really just preference. Mostly this is up to you, but I insist you keep some BRDM command units.
INFANTRY
The most important point I will make is this, first and foremost, you MUST use BTR 60 transports in the beginning of the battle. They move quickly and can take points, and they will hold the line while you are waiting for heavier reinforcements.
Comrade, if you find yourself in control of a rifle division, I would make the bulk of your men equipped with the BTR 60. It is cheap, fast, and provides decent fire support for your men. I would use it defensively, as its gun is not good enough to be on the offensive, and its armor is quite weak. I would also keep these men with 2nd level veterancy, so that you can have enough squads and make sure they know how to actually hit something.
I would keep a small number of elite squads with the BMP-1 or 2, as you will probably need some top line soldiers in a difficult fight, and their heavier vehicles will protect them.
If you find yourself in control of the armored division, keep most of your 2nd level veterancy men with the BMP-1, and a number of BTR men for the initial attack, with some elites in the BMP-2s.
Personally, I do not like to use Metis squads, i keep it simple with BTR or BMP squads.
If you have them available, I would use the AT squads. I find they are good in urban areas where you will need to unload 20 RPG rockets on tanks at close range.
Saperi are a great tool, i would equip them with the RPO launchers, and transport them with BTRs. Keep them with 2nd level veterancy. You do not want inadequate men.
ARTILLERY
Very simple here comrades. ALWAYS have some Akatsya, and Smerch launchers if you have. If no smerch, the Grad is good too.
For your launchers, set the veterancy to the lowest, so you can have the most units. It does not really affect their accuracy, so no worries for you.
TANKS
Here comrade I will show you two examples, depending who you are in control of.
First, with armored divisions, I would keep almost all of my tanks at elite veterancy.
I would keep some of the T-80Us with 2nd level veterancy, so you can have a good amount of our best tanks. I would not use the T-80B for this division. This is very straight forward and to the point.
Second, with a rifle division, I would keep, again, almost all of my tanks at elite veterancy, except for your T-80Bs and some T-80BVs. Since you do not have as much tanks as you would in an armor division, you will need to keep some at 2nd level veterancy to make sure you have enough tanks.
And as you can see comrade I do not like to use ATGM BRDMS. They can work in instances, but the missile is quite slow compared to a tank shell firing at it. If you do use it, I would keep it somewhat close to your hypothetical target so that it does not take too long to hit its target before being sighted and fired upon.
RECON
Very simple. Set your recon Mi-8 to the lowest veterancy so you can have a lot of them. The veterancy does not really do anything to these units, so just use this to get more.
You should also have some Heavy Razvedka or Spetsnaz if you have them available. They can hide in the forests, mountains, and buildings with more stealth than our amazing Soviet helicopters, and they can double as a regular infantry squad with higher accuracy, and faster deployment. Keep these men with either 2nd or 3rd level veterancy, that is up to you.
I always keep these being deployed with an armed Mi-8 for support and speed, and it gives you extra attack helicopters.
AA
Very simple again, to blow up the capitalist jets and helicopters, there are many good choices, but I like best to use Biryusas and Osa launchers. We all know the Biryusa will devour anything those capitalists send over the skies, and the Osa launchers pair well in air defence with our fighters.
For rifle divisions, I would have 4 biryusas and 4 Osas. For armored, I would keep as many Osas as you want since there are no Biryusas, and the Tunguska is quite expensive.
HELICOPTERS
Very simple, keep as many AT Mi-24s as you can. They are quite nice, and strong. I do not use the smaller rocket ones, or the expensive one, or the AA one.
If you do not have many of them, as with the armored division, I would keep some low veterancy Mi-8s with the biggest rockets.
AIR
Your best ground attack planes will be our Su-24. The cluster and HE bombs are superb.
Cluster will destroy armored vehicles quite nice, but not infantry.
HE can destroy armored vehicles as well as their infantry.
Napalm is very nice for getting infantry out of buildings and forests, however I don't use it as much.
The Su-22 is quite nice as well. Keep it equipped with HE bombs.
And again, for all of your ground attack planes MINUS Su-25s, keep their veterancy at the lowest so you have the highest amount. Keep your Su-25 at second or third level veterancy.
If the capitalists deploy a very strong tank, you can use the Su-25s ATGM missiles to destroy this. This is the only reason I would use the Su-25, precision armor strikes, as it is slow. I would not use them for bombing runs.
For fighters, if you are of the armored division, I would absolutely use the MiG-31. The missiles have quite a range, it has good ECM, and it is very fast. This is an expensive unit, so keep the engagements very fast, after 2-3 missiles fired or 10-15 seconds of air time I would evacuate your pilot. Keep it quick and fast, do not let this unit linger around.
If you are using the MiG-23, you get more of these and they are cheaper, so you can send more in a swarm and keep the engagements a bit longer.
As you can see I do not have a high number of fighters compared to my ground attacks. That is because of the extensive use of AA missile systems that I mentioned earlier.
