How to fix the menu crash!

If you've been playing TGAAC, there's a good chance you've come across the crash that happens upon opening the options menu, which many people will be doing often to save their game.

While there is a few mods out there that claim to fix crashes, I've found none actually work for this specific crash, but fear not! Because the solution is actually very simple!

Fixing The Crash

To fix this crash, you don't need to mess around with game files, or download fixes, only simply flip a switch in a program many PC users are bound to be using: Discord.

The solution is as follows: Navigate to your discord settings and simply turn off discord overlay for The Great Ace Attorney: Chronicles! Yes, it's really that simple. While it may make checking your messages a bit annoying, it's better then losing possibly hours of progress, even with the auto save, which only chooses to save at pre-determined points.

What If This Doesn't Fix My Problem?

If this doesn't fix your problem, there's a good chance that it isn't Discord causing the crash. If this is the case, the crash may be caused by lacklustre hardware, a faulty installation, or simply the game running out of resources. Some possible solutions could be:

Verifying game files through going to the games properties in Library, and selecting to verify game files in the Local Files tab.

Making sure there are enough resources for the game to use by ending unnecessary programs in Task Manager. (shutting down discord will free up a lot of resources on low end devices, and also solve the main cause for this crash anyway.)

Download a fix similar to the one in this guide here. (May not work, be warned!)

If all else fails, you may need to resort to saving in 5-10 minute intervals, so in the event of a crash, you don't need to skip forward too far.
