Ultimate Desert Coliseum Lv99 Guide: Ruler to Measure the Ruler of Rules Edition.

Foreword

This is probably the most fun coliseum. I do wish they had a randomized wave mode though. This whole coliseum benefits from good planning and being aggressive.

You have about 1 minute of leeway to get over 150 with a perfect run on hard and the recommended chips.

Check out the guides to the other 2 coliseums:

Forest

Flooded City

Clear Condition

Kill 150 Enemies within 5 minutes.

Chip Preparation

Required Chips:

Weapon Attack +6-8 - Free damage to quickly mow down machines.

I recommend you get a +8 under 25 cost.

To farm these, load chapter 17-01 and unlock the subtower units. Fight along side Popola and Devola(Best Girls) to kill Medium Bipeds. You can farm the Medium Bipeds until they say "9S You must hack into the tower. We.. can't hold out like this" then jump into the pit towards the underground mothership and save and load. This will take you back to just before the tower event but after the subunit activation. 3~ runs should net you enough to make a decent +8. This should take under 20 minutes for a decent +8 chip.

Shockwave +6-8 - Ranged damage to quickly mow down stragglers and handle Volt Walker Goliaths from range quickly.

I got this to +8 but farming desert machines that have 3 other chip drops takes awhile. You get a free Shockwave +6 from partial clearing some of the coliseums.

To farm these, use the infinitely spawning machines in the orgy pit where you first fight naked Adam. This will take around 2-3 hours depending on luck for a decent +8 chip.

Overclock +3 x2 - The clock ticks in real time during slowdown, but this slowdown will allow you to mow down the entire wave usually. Be careful of dodging when there are only few enemies left.

These are pretty quick to farm, if you get 2 of them under 10 cost just use those.

To farm these, load Abandoned Factory: Hangar and run away from the elevator then make a right, kill the flying machines, loot, and run back to save and load. This should take around 30 minutes for 2 decent +3 chips.

Taunt Up +4-8 - Taunt chips don't stack due to a bug, so to get full effect you need the highest Taunt Up chip you can get.

I used +6 because farming Taunt Up chips is terrible. You get a free Taunt Up +6 from partial clearing some of the coliseums.

To farm these, load Desert: Oil Field in one of the Route C chapters and head outside to the main area, hug the left wall for 2 medium flyers and kill them, run back and save and load. Once you know where they are Desert: Center can be faster by riding the pig mount and killing them by running through them with it. Desert: Center has a huge access range after you kill them. This will take around 3-5 hours depending on luck for a decent +6 chip.

Offensive Heal +4-6 - More reliable than deadly heal.

You get a free Offensive Heal +6 from partial clearing some of the coliseums.

To farm these, Load Forest: Center in a Route C chapter and kill Small Bipeds/Quadrapeds.

Optional Chips:

Critical +6 - Helps with damage output, but is not really needed.

To farm these, refer to the Chip Bible[docs.google.com]

Fast Cooldown +6 - Helps squeeze in extra pod Wave charges, but is not really needed.

To farm these, refer to the Chip Bible[docs.google.com]

Evade Range +3 - Aids in triggering overclock easier, but is not really needed.

To farm these, refer to the Chip Bible[docs.google.com]

Chips to Avoid:

Evasive Systems - The clock ticks in real time during slowdown, bullets aren't really a threat here.

Equipment Preparation

Pods:

Use Pod A or B.

Avoid using Pod C - Missiles cause enemies to dodge backwards and in general spread out enemies, for this challenge you want them to group as much as possible.

Weapons:

Any Attack Speed Combat Bracer - Fastest attack chain plus attack speed quickly kills little guys. This change alone added 40 seconds to my clear times.

Fang of the Twins - Rising attack hits all around you and bullet ruptures, allowing you to kill packs of flying machines quickly. Can easily cancel Medium Flyer Vertical Blade Spin attacks in overclock as well.

Pod Programs:

Wave - Level 2 charge wave with a Taunt Up +6 will kill any small bipeds/stubbies which are taunted, Level 3 charge will kill with Taunt Up +4. This is a free small biped/stubby wave clear.

Waves And Strategy

A companion video to visualize the strategy is available here.

(2 Small Stubbies with Shield and Bunch of Small Stubbies with Fisticuffs/Guns):

Immediately start charging your Wave. You can use the heavy weapon throw attack (Evade, Run at enemy, Heavy Attack) to break the 2 shields. Taunt and use the Charge 2 or 3 Wave. Do not overclock to get the taunt. Do not use pod programs during overclock, pod programs execute at slow speed during overclock. Clean up any stragglers who dodged the Wave.

(Bunch of Small Biped Axe/Sword/Lance):

Move to spawn point and taunt during spawn. Overclock the axe attack and move into the mass to activate B mode.

(3 Medium Biped with Axe/Lance, Bunch of Small Flyers):

Move to next spawn and taunt during spawn. Do a rising attack in the middle of the 3 Medium Bipeds. This should kill most of the wave.

(2 Volt Walker Goliaths):

Wait a bit and taunt during spawn. Move far away and kill with shockwave. Beware of the Volt Walker Goliath's corpse, the damage hitbox for the Volt Leggings persists on the corpse until it explodes and it will easily one shot you.

(4 Spider Machines with Blade, Medium Flyers with Guns/Explosives):

Taunt anything near you and kill while avoiding the middle until corpses explode. Any overclocks on the Medium Flyer's Vertical Blade attack can be used to kill them by using a rising attack to interrupt them. Begin charging Pod Wave at end of this enemy wave.

(3 Small Bipeds and 5 Small Stubbies with Guns):

Taunt on spawn and use charged Wave.

(3 Small Bipeds and 5 Small Stubbies with Guns):

You should be ahead of spawns and can taunt on spawn to quickly kill middle enemies.

You should be ahead of spawns and can taunt on spawn to quickly kill middle enemies.

(3 Small Bipeds and 5 Small Stubbies with Guns):

You should be ahead of spawns and can taunt on spawn to quickly kill middle enemies.

(4 Quadraped Machines and Bunch of Small Flyers):

Position in center and taunt on spawn. Use a rising attack to clear when enemies gather in middle. Begin charging Pod Wave at end of this enemy wave.

(3 Reverse Jointed Goliaths and Bunch of Small Stubbies with Guns):

Position slightly off center and taunt on spawn. Use pod Wave to clear out Small Stubbies and go ham on Reverse Jointed Goliaths.

(5 Small Stubbies with Guns):

Taunt in middle and use shockwaves to finish.

(5 Small Stubbies with Guns):

Taunt in middle and use shockwaves to finish.

(2 Spider Machines, Quadraped Machine, and 4 Small Bipeds):

(3 Medium Biped Lancers and 10 Small Stubbies with Guns):

Position in middle and taunt. Focus Medium Biped Lancers and use shockwaves to kill Small Stubbies. Begin charging Pod Wave at end of this enemy wave.

(3 Small Stubbies with Shield and Bunch of Small Stubbies with Fisticuffs/Saws/Guns):

Taunt on spawn. Break shields. Use charged pod wave.

(Bunch of Small Biped Axe, Sword, and Lance):

Taunt on spawn. Kill normally.

(3 Medium Bipeds with Guns and 3 Medium Biped Lancers/Fisticuffs/Blade with Shields):

Focus whichever spawns near you, use overclocks to kill Medium Bipeds with Guns.

(2 Volt Walker Goliaths and 2 Goliaths):

Position in between 2 Volt Walker Goliaths and taunt on spawn before they drop. Quickly move away when they drop and line them up to be killed with shockwaves. Taunt and kill Goliaths. Begin charging pod Wave at end of this enemy wave.

(1 Tank and Bunch of Suicide Explosives):

Taunt tank on spawn and kill it quickly. Use charged pod Wave to kill suicde explosives.

Repeat from Wave 1

You need to kill half of Wave 1 a second time to reach 150.
