Configuration Settings

A common complaint by a lot of people new to the game is that it feels janky or clunky but that can easily be solved by a few changes in the game's configuration settings which can be found on the launcher

All you have to do is make sure to turn off Vertical Synchronization and as for the frame rate, if you are using a 60hz monitor I recommend you set it at either 150 or 155 fps but if you are using a higher refresh rate such as 144hz or more I recommend to set your frame rate the same as your refresh rate

But if you want the smoothest Napoleonic Wars experience possible I recommend downloading warband script extender (wse2). All you have to do is follow the guide video made by HiReaper

https://youtu.be/nl-y242QUhk

In Game Settings

If you are using the vanilla version of the game I recommend picking the settings that you'll have a stable frame rate with, as I haven't used the vanilla version of the game in quite a while I sadly cannot help a lot in this department

As for wse2 users, achieving a stable frame rate while making the game not look like horrible is still the main goal, wse2 offers a biggers variety of settings to choose from and can make the game look visually way better than the vanilla version

A tip I can offer for wse2 users with high refresh monitors is to set your frame rate at your monitor's refresh rate +1. I will also provide my own settings as well

VERY IMPORTANT

Make sure to zoom out your camera with the - button on your numpad, if you do not have a numpad you have to use the on-screen keyboard

Public Servers

Tropical Paradise is a FFA deathmatch server and currently is the most active server in the game with players online during most of the day and night. Despite being a deathmatch server there's no rules against teaming and you can play any class you want want aside from cavalry for which the slots are limited. There are rules in place to prevent tnt spam and there's usually an admin on the server.

Minisiege is the only public siege server in the game and is where most new players tend to flock to so if you want a chill experience without any tryhards that's the place to go. The server is mainly active during the evenings and often reaches 80+ players

Commander Battle is a server where you command bots to play out battles and with scripts in place to prevent people from ramboing. It's fairly active and almost always has people playing.

Bot Survival, as the name suggest the players have to survive waves of Bots trying to kill them and to spice things up when admins are on there's special events where the players have to fend off a horde of naked men or women

Groupfighting Server, though not as active as it once was, it has always been a staple of the game and is the best place to practice your skills as a new player. The server also has a website where you can see yours and everyone else's stats http://nwgroupfighting.com/

There's also other smaller servers with extremely sporadic activity that are not worth mentioning

Events

On the European side of the game, there are events every day normally at 7pm London Time.

They can be either a classic line battle, a siege or an event with special format such as flag spawn or a historical event

Formats

Classic Linebattle

This is the oldest and most basic form of event, it has lines of infantry, skirmisher formations, cavalry and also artillery. Usually these events have a total amount of 4-6 rounds depending on how fast paced the rounds are

Siege

Currently there is only one siege event on Friday hosted by the 1Rhein

Flag Spawn

This is the newest form of event that has appeared. Unlike in the classic linebattle where if you die you have to wait for the next round in order to play again, in the flag spawn events you will spawn on your line's flag for as long as your team has enough points. Once the points of one or both teams run out the admin will call an all charge so as to not have the round drag for too long

Historical Events

Currently there is only one historical event and it happens once a month on a Wednesday and is hosted by the 33rd. As the name suggests it's based on historical battles and thus uses maps based on the location of the historical battle

Competitive

The game's competitive scene isn't as prevalent as it once was but it is still alive.

Regimental Comp is tournaments where regiments participate in either a 1v1 line-battle format or a 10v10-15v15 group-fight format. There have also been tournaments with different formats such as most recently the Skirmisher Championship hosted by the 33rd, where 2 regiments had to team up with one playing as Lights and the other as Rifles.

GF Team Comp is tournaments where group-fighting teams participate and the formats are smaller than those in tournaments meant for regiments, starting from 5v5 and up to 10v10 but nowadays 6v6 is the most common format. There are also tournaments where the teams are randomized giving anyone the chance to win and those have been pretty popular the past few years but are more casual than normal tournaments

Pick-Ups is when a bunch of players gather together and play group-fight matches with the teams being picked by 2 players, who gets to pick first is usually decided by a duel. They are more casual and more welcoming to newer people since usually the goal is to gather as many people as possible with the only requirement being to speak and comprehend English to avoid communication issues. Pick-Ups happen once a week on the 96y Teamspeak: 51.38.144.58:9738 at 8pm London Time on Monday
