Intro

From what I've learned from my attempts, the most important things to keep in mind to get S Rank in these battles are time and health. After finishing a fight, you can see the rank breakdown list like. There, you can see what you've done and what you can do to earn more points.

If you finish with at least 80% HP you will earn 500 points, and with at least 90% HP another 500 points. If your HP drops below 80%, restart the battle because 1000 points have already been lost. You will have to learn the opponent's attacks so that you can avoid them as much as possible.

Same thing with time. In the hardest battles, like the ones in chapters 6, 7 and 8, if you win within 210 seconds you'll earn 500 points, and within 190 seconds another 500 points, and that's 1000 points which can be a big help to get the S Rank. Giving attacks commands to your other character is useful, especially when you are far away, to keep lowering the enemy's health whenever you can.

Oh, and another quick tip that took me way too long to figure out: if you get poisoned fighting some types of demons, switch characters as soon as possible and the poison will disappear.
