Introduction
This guide will give you tips and tricks when flying the Mirage F1, introduced in the Cold War era, leaving you with multiple challenges when fighting in the modern day with new and modern aircrafts, this guide will also leave you to become a fearless lad in the old Mirage F1.
Features
First and only thing on our features list is...
Speed: In the mirage f1, you are extremely fast when it comes to intercepting , and defending. In full afterburner, you are almost untouchable faster than most missles and planes, etc "mig29" , "f16" , "aim120" and "r77 - this one might still get you if your not quick to react. Do not be afraid to burn fuel, even if you have three bags, You have lots of fuel to burn , but manage.
Radar
Radar is quite complicated and fairly difficult to get a lock in immediate danger , use your bore sight search radar mode it will save the time manually locking a bandit but you have to get with 4 miles within your target.
Loadout
I have decided to use this as my personal cap loadout. I will put down what I mostly use for my specific missions; yours may be different, but these are mine.
Payload 1 - AIM9-P
Payload 2 - Nothing / HEAT Rockets - Only for Ground Missions "Max you can get"
Payload 3 - Fuel Bag / R530F - IR / EM - CAP
Payload 4 - Fuel Bag / GBU-10/12 Laser Guided - Only for Ground Missions
Payload 5 - Fuel Bag / R530F - IR / EM - CAP
Payload 6 - Nothing / HEAT Rockets - Only for Ground Missions "Max you can get"
Payload 7 - AIM9-P
Obviously you can choose your own this is what I personally use I do not like unguided bombs and deploying them just too much estimation and angling for me I prefer rockets and the laser guided bombs.
R530 Missles - are in one word: "terrible." I only use those for helicopters and planes that can't defend themselves well, etc. Su25t, Su25, a10a/c and just really anything thing that wants to kill me but those are my main priorities for these missiles.
AIM9-P - Very good for visual and close a/a engaments and fights much recommend
S530F - It's a good missile, in my opinion. I would use it if I were able to use it to replace the other IR and EM missiles. If you can use it, go for it, they would be my Payload 5 and 3.
Rocket Deploying
I'm not gonna inform too you how to deploy air-to-air missiles; it will just take too long and be very confusing, I'm gonna leave that to you, If you do not know how, here's the link for two videos on how to engage with your air to air weapons.
GRIM - #1
Redkite - #2
Once your moving too your target take a look at this picture.
Im gonna list this as straight forward as possible so you dont get confused because I had to draw via mouse.
Bottom Red box is your depression number ignore "55" set that to 20 or to were one arm of your pipper is touching the top of your hud compass.
The other boxes represents your dive ange and the circle represents where your rockets are going to hit / fire.
As you dive the point of where your rockets are going to hit will increase do not go pass a dive angle of 30 you might need to sustain of couple of negative g's that will have a chance of puting you in a g-lock and killing you.
For a example the bottom middle red box will hit directly where your pipper is which the depression should be set at 20.
So speaking if your flying straight and you fire your rockets your point of where your rockets are gonna hit will be your flight path marker "which will be static" the point will increase as you dive.
Practice on this, this is my personal way of doing it I could not be bothered to put configurations into the plane too be accurate just not for me your choice though, I just dive and get close to ensure impact.
If your confused which you most likely will be heres a video for you this is just my personal way of doing it and the screenshot is from this video I just drew on it props to "DCS Heinlein".

Flight And Countermeasures
You are literally. The speed of sound and light, speed, mountains, and terrain are your countermeasures, and your actual countermeasures are flares. I do not use chaff. I max out my flares. Chaff does not work for me. It just takes up all my flare space. I don't use them at all.
I prefer to fly very low to the ground. Not only will I be hard to locate a bit on a Cold War server, but you will also be able to spot those helicopters lurking around. If you fly fast and low, you will remain almost untouchable even by some SAM;s, man pads not so much. "PS you can act like a sneaky flanker in the mountains and popup and kill something - you don't have the weapon power to do that"
Keep your head on a swivel, rely on your RWR, "If you're in the upgraded version of the mirage", rely on constant braa calls within your GCI and/or DCS Awacs, and try to remain concealed on a visual basis with all that you should be fine.
