Can You Use This Layout For Other Controllers?
Is the controller a PS4 controller? Then yes it should work, the only button that will not be available is the Master Mode Switch (located on the Mute button).
I have not tested this layout on the PS4 controller, so use at your own risk!
For any other controller? Probably not... this is due to the radial menu being accessed through the Touchpad.
In Game Keybinds
This layout utilises the default keyboard bindings for all controls.
To ensure that gyro looking works properly, you will need to bind Left Pad Click (JOY_BTN7) to Force cursor to show, toggle. I recommend binding R3 (Right Stick Click) to this as well.
Note that when switching HOTAS buttons while the gyro is active, the mouse cursor may show, which is why I suggest binding a controller button to this key, it does not have to be Right Stick Click.
Free controller buttons that you can bind are:
L1 (Left Bumper)
R1 (Right Bumper)
L3 (Left Stick Click)
R3 (Right Stick Click, if you haven't bound it to Force cursor to show, toggle)
Looking Around (Gyro) And Zooming
To look around the cockpit while flying, press the left side of the touchpad. This is hide your mouse cursor and let you look around by moving your controller.
You can press the same button to disable looking around.
If at anytime your cursor appears while looking around and the gyro is active, simply press LALT+C (or R3 if you bound it).
To zoom your view in and out, hold the Select button and use the Left or Right Triggers.
You may wish to bind Zoom In Slow and Zoom Out Slow to your Left and Right Bumpers for easier zooming.

HOTAS And Master Mode Switching
To switch the currently available HOTAS functions for the Dpad, use the Right side of the Touchpad. You will see a radial menu appear. Press the Touchpad in to select the HOTAS function.
The Radial menu shows icons that sort of match their function names, but each function is named while you hover over it.
You can view or edit the icons and menu opacity at anytime by viewing the virtual menu.
The Dpad follows the following binding pattern:
DpadHOTASUpUp/ForwardLeftLeft/CenterRightRight/CenterDownDown/Aft
To change the Master Mode, press the Mute buttons at the bottom of the controller.
Viewing And Editing This Layout
You can view all buttons on the controller at anytime through the steam overlay's Controller Settings.
Important note on editing this layoutRemember that each button on the controller is unique per action set, so if you change one button on the Default action set, you will need to go through ALL other action sets and change that same button manually.
