Blood Management

As most of fantasy RPGs out there, there is magic in the game. So it makes sense to (ab)use it, right? Well, no. You are supposed to try saving your Blood Points when possible, as restoring them can be either costly or time-cosuming.

Best-case scenario is when you dont use them at all in fight, but sometimes thats not possible, or can prolong a fight so much that its in fact more cost-effective to spend some BPs to make fight shorter.

So when its good time to actually use all BPs and blood potions you hoarded?

When you fight against:

Bosses in quests or main story line.

Mobs that use a lot of debuff magic which effects is too troublesome to endure. And i'm talking about really nasty effects like damnation or domination here, or bleeding which drain your BPs anyway, not some random blindnees or burn.

Enemies that you know are extra sensitive to specific type of magic damage. Bacause if they not, chances are, you DPS will stay the same with or without magic, but you will waste BPs.

Some enemies are simply immune to physical damage and require magic to be killed. This one is no-brainer, but for the sake of completeness its still here.

Also keep in mind that when you go below 25% BP character will go into frenzy when next fight starts, and thats one more reason to not waste BPs as non-controllable char is less usable most of the time and can die an idiot death sometimes because of that. Frenzied character will rapidly restore his BP by blood-sucking, but thing is, most mobs out there dont have drinkable blood.

But speaking of drinkable blood, one way of hoarding even more blood essence is by keeping some mobs on the map alive and returning there solely to drink blood, thus avoiding spending blood essence unless strictly necessary.

Another thing to consider is auto-healing after the fight. Its handy, but comsumes BP as well. And if you low on blood essence it might be a problem because of blood-frenzy. It can be disabled in Asgar's castle.

Not to mention, that you if play your cards right, its totally possible to finish the fight with full HP by making use of revenge-point skills that heal hp. Valnar has all-party heal, and Asgar has personal heal. Ab(use) those as mush as you can!

Money Management

Gameplay tips (EN) image 14

The main problem here is that consumables are not just some extra that you can simple ignore like in good chunk of other RPGs. Monsters with AoE spells, or too deadly single-target attacks that you cant take on with your skills alone... So you will be using a LOT of consumables, at any point in the game, especially if you have not tweaked game difficulty down.

And that means you also need a lot of filar(money) to buy them, too.

So the thing to keep in mind is: %-restoring items prices scale with your levels.

Blood essence at, let's say level 10, and same blood essence at level 90 are gonna cost you different sum of filar. Same goes to potions of eternity.

Thats how prices look on level 90, for example.

So hoard them in early game when they are still cheap.

And while we are still on topic of filar, try to capture silver mines as soon as you can take monsters inside. There are 5 mines in total, with last two being hidden and only revealed after you capture first three. Those last two hidden mines are NOT displayed on world minimap after their reveal, so you have to fly around to find them.

The sooner you have the mines the sooner you will get the profits. Silver is generated only when you actually play AFAIK, and not when you idle.

Special Characters And Locations

There are some characters in game that can give you unique benefits, either by capturing them and then enslaving them with domination rings, or simple by interacting with them, in case of merchants.

For example, there are two location on the map with houses of those special merchants that are selling items no one else sell. Like elemental resistance potions, or blood pies.

I marked hidden silver mines with cyan rectangles, and two merchants locations with yellow ones.

There is also a merchant in Erena that are selling accesories with special effects. Make sure to check him out every 5 levels to see if there is anything interesting.

And speaking of non-merchants, near Atronus there is quest to look for bounty-hunter.

His name is Paronius and you REALLY want him as your servant. Because he will catch vampires for you. A great way to fill hall of sacrifice with bodies and your castle with spare servants.

Quests Help

Most quests are straightforward enough, but there are few exceptions that i would like to talk about here:

Drink of the desert

The plant can be found in the oasis west of Basalan(which is also location for other quest)

The Blood Rose

Quest does not specify where to look for rose. It can be found in the same swamp of one of merchants mentioned above.

Aesthetics and beauty

I wont list a location of every single painting BUT one of them is in the sewers of Atronus which you will have to visit during the main story line. Make sure to get this one, because later the location wont be accessible anymore.

Vampire etiquette

Arguable the most complicated quest in the game. And not because of fighting. The right answers differ for each game run, so instead here is location of all 8 books with corrects answers:

-1 is in the house of Avarus, the quest-giver.

-2 is in the Uldur in the basement of local smith

-3 is in the House of Joyful Tears (revealed through main story-line, and cant be entered later)

-4 is in tower in Hadrin (cant be entered again after completing quest associated with tower)

-5 is in Asgar's castle library

-6,7 and 8 is in Faryn castle

Combat Tips

Well, for starters, do not use magic unless necessary as was already mentioned before.

When you do, though, consider this:

Instant-damage magic is often less effective in the long run. A simple burn can deal more damage than a single fireball, if you are okay with waiting for a few turns. Also this type of magic is not dependant on your character M.Atk stat, so if you see your fireball dealing low damage due to your bad stats maybe burning will yield better results.

Many buffs last until the end of fight, so casting them once and then relying solely on normal attacks and RP-skills is a great way of conserving your blood points

Blade Aura spells are a great BP-conserving alternative to regular spells when you encounter enemies resistant to physical damage, or ones sensetive to specific damage type.

Plain sleep spell which you get by having single status rune equipped makes fighting in early-to-mid game much more simpler.

Also make sure you have consumeables with you before starting a fight. Healing potions is a must, but dont forget some auxiliaty stuff like bandages, clarity potions, eternity potions, or blood pies too.

Some fight might be too troublesome otherwise.

Oh, and lastly, after you get Valnar in the party, its usually good idea to prolong a fight for a bit to accumulate enough RPs to heal everyone. Such a heal is free, after all, after fight auto-heal or heal potions are not.

Magic Rune Combinations

First let me list regular magic that can be obtained by having enough runes of single type:

Light Magic lvl Description Shadow Magic lvl Description 1 Beam of light 1 Shadow ray 2 Small Purification 2 Black oil 3 Lightning strike 3 Haze 4 Holy guidance 4 Dark shadows 5 Blinding light 5 Hex 6 Chain lightning 6 Shadow cloak 7 Rotten Weapons 7 Oil wave 8 Holy shield 8 Greater shadow cloak 9 Light vortex 9 Shadow blast 10 Magic shield 10 Sapping immunity

Fire Magic lvl Description Ice Magic lvl Description 1 Fireball 1 Ice shard 2 Burn 2 Chill 3 Double blast 3 Ice hail 4 Fire armor 4 Ice armor 5 Burst of fire 5 Freeze 6 Thaw 6 Cold bones 7 Big burn 7 Cutting ice 8 Fire bomb 8 Frost burn 9 Fire armor aura 9 Ice armor aura 10 Inferno 10 Frost wind

Status Magic lvl Description Blood Magic lvl Description 1 Sleep 1 Blood strength 2 Weakness 2 Solid veins 3 Prism spark 3 Blood agility 4 Healing stigma 4 Blood regeneration 5 Damnation 5 Recovery 6 Corrosive mist 6 Sacrifice 7 Domination 7 Aura of blood strength 8 Sleep mist 8 Feeling of revenge 9 Great chaos 9 Blood might 10 Invulnerability 10 Blood transcendence

I wont list every single combination, instead here is most useful stuff, and a few general rules:

2+2, 4+2, 4+4 combinations exist pretty much for all rune combinations

4 blood + 2 other is blade aura, and 4 blood + 4 other is resistance aura of given type. Lesser versions for two blood instead. Blade auras is cheap way of getting around physical immunity of some enemies by switching physical damage with elemental one, and resistance is self-explanatory.

Ice+Blood+Shadow = Blood Freeze, which is enemy heal blocker

Ice+Status+List = Painful rupture, which is a cheap way of increasing normal attacks damage

Ice+Fire+Light+Blood = Lesser Elemental Shield

2*Ice+Fire+Light+Shadow+Blood+Status = Strong Element Shield

Still Not Enough?

Well, you can also check the german guides out there, google-translate gives a rather decent translation when it comes to german --> english translation.

Plus there are also built-in cheats in game.

To use them, ask the ??? vampire guy in location north of Edyril for help(only possible if you are level 20+). He will then ask what exactly do you need. Possible answers are:

FILAR

LEVEL

KAMPF

TRANK

MARLEXSome are clearly german words, and yes, they are supposed to be typed that way even in english version of the game.
