A Collection of Terrible Fates

Spoilers Abound!

If you want to discover these messages yourself or piece them together on your own, this guide will ruin that experience for you.

If you haven't discovered the Cenote Biome yet, there will be main story spoilers in this guide.

[????] Treha

Treha is another planet in the universe, called such by the Wardens. When the Wardens met another species of very similar physiology - but drastically different minds - they welcomed them onto the planet. This species is revealed to be humanity, and the planet was ravaged by humanity's insatiable desires.

[????] The Wardens

The Wardens landed on this planet to escape humanity. It was very carefully chosen to allow them to hide in its extensive underground caves and to be very far from humanity's sphere of influence. The Wardens are implied to either biologically or culturally be collectivist, believing they are all as one, but appear to be capable of understanding individualism.

Their life on the planet was cut short when a large meteor was identified as en-route. The group split: One set of the Wardens believing in fate, staying behind on the planet. The other sent themselves to the stars, leaving behind the means to follow them.

[3021] Cirella-IV

Cirella-IV was a cargo ship, passing by the planet through hyperspace. It suddenly dropped out, and those on board decided to make an emergency landing on the planet. They failed to land properly, and likely perished in the crash. The planet wasn't on any of their charts, and was likely discovered by tracing back the ship's path when their cargo didn't arrive.

The writer of the Cirella-IV log appears to be a maintenance worker, as the log is labeled as a "Machinery Log."

[3034] Izitial Prime Warp Gate

A group of builders spent 2 years working on a warp gate in the sector of Izitial Prime, where the planet is located. The gate was not meant to be on the planet, but likely in an orbit that was close to it. When they attempted to turn the gate on, it immediately lost power, and both the gate and the ship they were on were drawn toward the planet.

The builders attempted to escape by using escape pods. No evidence of those pods is found on the planet, but it's unlikely they made it.

[3037-3042] Ikhlas

Ikhlas is the sole survivor after what appears to be a battleship crashes into the planet. They are steadfast at first, hell-bent on survival, and work toward building a launch platform to escape. Unlike the convicts, Ikhlas does not have a multitool, making this incredibly challenging.

They begin to waver as they meet their basic needs, going from calling the planet cursed to remarking it makes them feel as if they want to stay. Their attempts to communicate with the outside world fail, and they make a seemingly prosperous home in the caves nearby. By the next year, though, they regain their determination to escape. This may have been spurred on by finding the blueprints for the Warden Key Detector, which is further into the cave.

Ikhlas' fate is unknown. While it's possible they perished seeking out the Warden's Keys, it's also possible that two sets were indeed on the planet and they were able to escape.

[3042] Scavenger

A private scavenger was given a reconnaissance mission to discover the reason behind the disappearances in the Izitial Prime sector, and record the location of any crashes and merchandise.

The writer of their mission statement makes many spelling and grammatical errors.

[3043] Cinitat II

Cinitat II was a cruise ship, on a voyage through lesser-known parts of the universe. Like the other ships, it likely had a power failure, though the writer of the log appears ignorant to the ship's workings. It had a large amount of passengers, as the group of survivors was only able to pull a small amount from the burning ship, yet the burial site has a significant number of graves.

[3055-3056] Xiaodan

Xiaodan was another convict sent by Sentinal Corp. to terraform the planet. Their crime is unknown, but they claim it was something small, at least compared to the task. While confident at first, they soon realize they don't have the ability to gather more resources in the current weather conditions. The stress of attempting to survive with very little and the circumstances of their situation lead them to madness, plastering the welcome message all along their walls and cursing Sentinal Corp. for sending them to die.

They predicted that the planet's weather conditions would be more favorable in 2 years, and were attempting to survive until then. In 3058, Convict GP-8971-L - the player character - lands on the planet.

The encrypted part of Riley's message to the player character is the location of Xiaodan's bunker. It's likely they were able to find record of the previous convict sent, and attempted to give you their location so you could work together if they were still alive.

[3058] Convict GP-8971-Y

Convict GP-8971-Y is a convict on a different planet than this one, Migoria-III. They call out for help, as the weather there is unfavorable and resources are low. It's likely they perish on their planet, as while you gain access to the launch platform soon after, there is no way to attempt to send assistance.
