I find the below the easier and less time consuming method.
FIshbone Coins
What are fishbone coins?
Fishbone coin is the main currency used to purchase fishing bait and fishing rods.
They can also be used in Gold of Four Seas Merchant shops to purchase recipes for fishing gear and talismans used to upgrade the gear. I don't recommend spending the coins on the recipes unless you know you are able to consistently make money crafting and selling the gear to other players.
How to obtain fishbone coins?
Weekly Gold of the Four Seas event on Saturdays and Sundays. The event opens up every Saturday and Sunday 6pm to 8pm eastern. The portal to the event can be found in cloudrise (-311, -160). You will be able to pick different areas to spawn in and once you are inside, you should immediately start fishing up any blue/gold fishing hole you see. I personally prioritize golden holes are they always guarantee at minimum a koi(or rainbow carp if you are lucky). However each golden hole will be heavily contested and disappears as soon as the third koi is picked up. If you find golden fishing holes too difficult to fish, just go for uncontested blue ones. Each fish you catch will count towards your points.
Make sure to farm up 500 points in order to get the 2 tael boxes. It should take you at most 10 to 15 minutes to reach 500 points with the bamboo fishing rod and 0 fishing gear/talents. (Top fishing rankers can even do it in under 5 minutes)
You can enter the event once per Saturday and Sunday and if you get 500 points on each day, you can earn 600 fishbone coins alone from the event! Remember to also pick up the 3(4?) weekly quests from Bianzho who is right outside the event portal. Each of his quests rewards 30 fishbone(I think 1 of them may reward 50. I will need to check next week) and only requires you to get 100 points.
Please note that if you leave the event area you will not be able to go back in, regardless of if you have exceeded your time there or not. So make sure to fish up enough fish to get the 500 points.
By participating in this weekly event every weekend for a total of 30 minutes (15 minutes each day spent getting 500 points), you will be to get 690 fishbone coins, 600 from the tael boxes and 90 from Bianzho's weekly quests.
The two daily quests from Dong Ruicong (Cloudrise (42,-81)). His two daily quests both reward 15 fishbone coins for a total of 30 coins per day. It takes at most 3 minutes to complete both his quests,(1 minute if Dong Ruicong ends up being the quest receiver).
Fishing from blue and golden fishing holes around the world with delicious fried prawns. Each fishing hole gives you the hole's specific fish and a random colored gold guzzler. The most common guzzler(green) can be sold for 5 fishbone coins. If you were to purchase the delicious fried prawns from a gold of four seas merchant store, it would cost 5 fishbone coins and 100 silver. You will always at minimum break even on fishbone coins if you fish blue and golden fishing holes.
You also have a very small chance of obtaining fishbone coins(usually 2) every time you fish. There is a talent that can increase that chance but I do not recommend it. I will explain more about talents below
Personally I think you should purchase delicious fried prawns from the auction house and I will explain to you why in this guide.
*****The Method - Fivefold Bait*****
The main focus of this guide will be on the fivefold bait.
What does it do?This bait allows the user to fish up any of the current map's local fishes. For example, the local fishes found in Chang'an City are prawns, mandarin fish, jade carp, exquisite prawns, and sea bass.

I highly recommend this website for fishing and resource gathering as it lists and shows every resource and their locations in an interactive map style.
Note: I recommend using the bait in Chang'an City unless you really need red breams and would like to test your rng, then go use the bait in either Foothills, Jiandu or Grasslands.
If you were to use this bait on a body of water in Chang'an City, you would randomly receive a fish from above.
I am not 100% sure about the rng behind which of the local fish you will receive. I have tested it out in all the areas that have fishing spots and the results are still very random.
For example, sea bass is purple rarity(the highest among the fish) and yet I would sometimes catch them more often than exquisite prawns(blue rarity). However if I were to fish in Shanghuai Grasslands, an area that contains 2 purple rarity fishes out of 7 fish(puffer fish and red bream), I can't seem to ever catch a red bream or pufferfish(not that I want it). As I do not entirely understand the rng, I will give each fish an equal chance of getting caught, regardless of their rarity for calculation purposes. Though in my personal experience, I seem to catch prawns and mandarin fish the most when fishing in Chang'an City with jade carps at a close tie to mandarin fish.
How does fishing with fivefold bait make you money?I will ignore auction trading fees in the following calculations. I will include a small section on auction feeds below this section.
As explained above, fivefold baits allow you fish up a random local fish of your current area. For example, if I am using the bait in Chang'an city, I have a chance of getting either a prawn, mandarin fish, jade carp, exquisite prawn, or sea bass. For the sake of giving a fivefold bait a value, I will give each fish an equal chance of getting caught(1/5). At the current auction house prices in North America(my server), a fivefold bait would be valued at 3 gold.
Fish Auction Price Prawn 3.5g Mandarin Fish 5g Jade Carp 0.5g Exquisite Prawn 2g Sea Bass 4g Granted you are fishing at Chang'an City and the chances of getting each fish are the same(1/5), the average value of the fivefold bait would be (3.5+5+0.5+2+4)/5 = 3
Based on my personal experience, I find most fish I get from using the bait to be prawns and mandarin fish, so the value may exceed 3g. I also have to note that I do not use any fishing gear nor have good fishing talents so if you do have good fishing gear and talents, the value of each fivefold fish can easily exceed 3g. I will talk more about fishing gear and fishing talents below this section.
TDLR: Each fivefold bait can get you 3g worth of fish if used in Chang'an City.
How to get fivefold bait?You can buy fivefold baits from any Gold of the Four Seas merchants for the same price as delicious fried prawns, 100 silver and 5 fishbone coins.
This is the reason why I do not recommend buying delicious fried prawns using fishbone coins when you can buy them for 1g to 1.5g in the auction house. For me, each fivefold bait exceeds 3g in value and can be bought for 5 fishbone coins and 100 silver just like delicious fried prawns.
But It Is All RNG! What If The Fivefold Bait Only Gives Me Trash Fish Like Jade Carp?
That's ok because guess what? Just increase your chances and improve your rng!
I'm stupid af and didn't invest in fishing gear and screwed up my ancestral records talents. Well since I screwed up, you don't have to!
Fishing GearI highly recommend buying a full set of fishing gear. In NA, you should be able to buy a full set for 650g from some berserker (carll or something like that) that spams it in the world chat. If you really want to cheap out like me, at minimum get 4 sets while prioritizing the headpiece.
Why the headpiece? Well because you can buy this talisman from any Gold of the four seas merchant for only 1000 fishbone coins(should take you at most 2 weeks to get over 1k fishbone coins)
Ancenstral Records Talent and BuffTalents:
I highly recommend either Sky River or Jishui, personally leaning towards Sky River. Choice is up to you and I haven't done the math for it since as you can see, I screwed up my talents by dumping it all into Heaven Ship(which wasn't bad since I put it there to farm Golden red guzzlers for astral points, but they updated that and now any non-green guzzler counts towards astral points - smh)
Buff:
Guess what?! There is a 8 min buff that has a 40 hour cooldown that can seriously help you!
If you want to be super efficient with your fivefold bait usage, only fish with your baits when you have this buff off cooldown. It should only take u 3-4 cycles of this buff. However that requires you to log in outside of the weekends which is not what this guide is all about! You do you,
FortuneI'm not talking about this fortune:
Though do be aware that each fish you catch will decrease your fortune. If you run out you won't be able to fish. You get 1 fortune point every 15 minutes and can get 20 instantly if you go to inside someone's hotspring in their residence(like my residence: NA cumulus realm 1000 no 12).

I won't go in depth on how to increase this but basically think of it as luck. The higher it is, the better chance of good loot dropping. Will improve the chances of you getting double fish, etc.

The easiest way of getting a higher fortune, which isn't updated in this guide is just praying 3 times in the new moon event area.
I also give free "thank the mentor" buff service which is +49 fortune so just add/pm me if I'm online. Excuse me if I don't reply, I'm probably afk or offline. Ign is But in NA server.
Rainbow Carp BuffThis is one of the fish you can get from Gold of the four seas weekly events. You should easily be able to get a few per session, especially if you have the fishing talents. Better if you have fishing gear.
This fish gives you a +2% chance of doubling the fish you catch, stackable up to 3 times for a total of +6%. Very nice!
Auction House Trading Fees
Important thing to note when selling items through the auction house:
Deposit/total is different from Min. trade free/lot. The auction house automatically takes the deposit fee when you auction an item and will only return that fee if you successfully sold your item to someone, meaning if no one bought your item, you will receive your item back but not the deposit fee. However, if you manage to sell your item, you will receive the deposit fee back along with the amount the item was sold for minus the trade fee.
The Min. trade free/lot is calculated based on the final price the item was sold for. For example: if you put up an item for 12g as fixed price and 10g as starting price and someone bidded for 10g and won the auction for 10g, the trade fee will be 500 silver. Net: 9.5g
However, if someone managed to buy the item for 12g, the trade fee will be 600 silver, meaning you will net 11.4g.
TLDR: Basically just assume that if you item gets sold for a price, the auction house will take 5 percent of it.
TLDR
690 fishbone coins from weekly gold of four seas event- 30 mins max to do (15 mins both day)
60 fishbone coins from 2 days worth of Ruicong dailies (Saturday and Sunday) - 6 mins max to do (3 mins both day)
For only 36 minutes of your weekend, you can obtain 750 fishbone coins which can be used to buy 150 fivefold bait.
Each five fold bait is valued at 3g if used in Chang'an City. Each bait takes 10 seconds to use(if you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fishing rod like I do) for a grand total of 25 minutes of fishing non-stop.
For under 1 hour of playing time in the weekends, you have successfully obtained 450 gold worth of fish or 427.5 gold if you include auction price fees. Best of all, if used with fishing gear, rainbow carp x3 buff, fortune buffs, and fishing talents, you can easily obtain over 450g worth of fish.
Note: At the end of the day all my calculations on done based on the current auction prices of NA server and what I am able to sell my fish for. The prices can change everyday but on the bright side, mandarin fish seems to keep increasing in value so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
