Part 1: Desks?
You might be wondering why im mentioning desks here. The reason why is because they are actually the simple mod progression tactic i mentioned in the beginning. Desks appear in just about any mod that takes place inside of a man made structure such as a laboratory in which alot of mods take place in, this means that most of the time you will find desks in game.
Part 2: How?
Of course i know it sounds silly saying that desks are your almighty savior, but hear me out on this one. If your being chased into a room by something and theres a desk in that room, get on the desk. Unless its a completely custom and not used from the official game creature, that things not gonna get you. The only exception being thin desks, if the desk is not as wide as you then it wont work. For an example of my own, during a mod when i was about to open an elevator and complete it i was ambushed by the creature and hit once. I survived (obviously) and slowly crawled to a nearby room with a desk in it. The creature came into the room but it was too late, i was on the desk already. (For quick context, this desk was L shaped with me being on the long part and the creature on the curved part.) Of course it was still attempting to chase me, so i waited. It kept trying to get to me from either side but every time it made a move i went to the other side of the desk, eventually it stopped chasing me and stood at the curved part of the desk (i believe this happens because the a.i is made to have the creature always at a point where it can attack you if you screw up). So after about 3 minutes of waiting for it to move i gave up on waiting and slowly walked past it (this was one of the creatures who are blind and rely on hearing, so i could just crouch past them). Once i did that i walked out of the room and to the elevator where i closed the elevator and rose up to victory. This normally doesnt even happen, alot of the time the creature will walk in and out of the room or leave entirely, but this goes to show that even when it doesnt go as planned, you can still get through it.
Part 3: Why?
Why would you stand on a desk for 3 minutes when you can just try and get past normally? well let me explain it like this, SOMA's creatures are great, they are fantastically good at making you afraid and all that. But of course the games old and such is the A.I, which means that in mods the creatures can act chaotically and violently because they werent meant for that place at all, this means that your likely to encounter a monster you cant escape by normal means. This means that you cannot enjoy the time and effort that people put into this game because your repeatedly cornered or just plainly stuck in a corner in a room dying over and over. And sometimes the monsters are just plain unable to adapt with the situations (A good example was the time that i went around a fence to the other side and taunted a monster on the other side of the fence, and because its not exactly supposed to be there by mod means, it just screamed at me and acted like it was in a chase sequence).
Part 4: Fin
Thank you for listening into this guide about desks, if you feel your time is wasted then i apologize, this is my first guide and i wanted people to know about the almighty desk powers. If you have any questions i will do my best to answer them in this comments.
