Setting The Hook
Currently, you have to strike the fish only when using the float methods. With all other rods and fishing methods, setting the hook/striking with the ctrl+rmb button combo is not necessary.
Telescopic Rods
With telescopic rods, after hooking a fish with the left mouse button, just hold down the right mouse button. The character will raise the rod, thereby pulling the fish toward you.
In some cases, it may be necessary to chase the fish, or gently make few steps back to pull the fish closer to shore. However, such moves should be made carefully, as you may end up breaking the leader, line, losing the fish or worse.
Remember to make sure that when fighting a fish:
Do not swing the rod rapidly.
Do not press "shift" while walking with a fish hooked.
Try to keep your energy level in the green area of the indicator.
Equip yourself with a landing net, which you can purchase at a tackle store.
Fishing Rods With Reel
In this case, we have a reel or baitcaster at our disposal, which makes it much easier to fight larger specimens and gives us more opportunities.
Depending on the setup and fishing method, fighting the fish may be based on reeling in and pumping with the rod. If a big fish will bite on your setup, you may have to go after it to avoid being spooled.
In sea fishing, it may be necessary to close the reel and slowly reel in the fish with caution. At this point, you need to pay close attention to loose the reel drag if necessary.
While trolling, you can go after the fish while reeling in the line, but remember that the trolling mode must remain on. If you turn it off during a fight with a fish, you will not be able to activate it again until the fight is over.
If you us a conventional reel with a changeable gear ratio, use the lower one to fight big fish.
Remember to make sure that when fighting a fish:
Do not swing the rod rapidly.
Do not spam the "Hook Set" ctrl+rmb option.
Do not reel the fish in when it is spooling you.
When your reel's brake "lights up" and the icon indicating this has turned red from orange, loosen the brake until the icon disappears. This will allow you to reduce the damage to the brake.
Try to keep your energy level at green part of the indicator
