Introduction

UBAS & You, A Complete In-Depth Mecha Guide image 1

Nyoho~ My name is Mason, I had always been fond of the character archetypes known as The Paladin. A character that can do all 3 jobs at once, namely Tank, Damage & Heal. I had played this game for almost a year now and the only Playstyle / Build that allow this more consistently is the Engineer with a UBAS Build.

To play as an UBAS Pilot is to be an One-man Army, the Unstoppable (beside wall collision bug) and Destructive Force that can plow through trash mobs with ease. The Ultimate Vanguard that stood between a rampaging Fluffy and your itty-bitty tiny teammate who skipped leg day (broken leg). Wielder of Duel Cannon-Gatling Gun that penetrates the horde while holding one of the most powerful suppression ability, Smoke Screen.

For long I have play UBAS in both Public and Private Lobbies and what I had notice is that there aren't many UBAS player and those that do struggles hard before giving up on the UBAS entirely. I decided to write this Guide to help my fellow UBAS enthusiast and hope that more players can enjoy this giant hulk of metal.

REMEMBER PILOTS, THE 3 GOLDEN RULE OF UBAS

1. NEVER USE MISSILES BARRAGE

2. THOU SHALL NOT ENTER ANOTHER MAN's MECH

3. UBAS TOGETHER STRONG

The Build

SKILLS Combat UBAS

The Main Protagonist of this build

Advanced Charger

Your main batteries to recharge the UBAS

Ammo Generator

One of the best skill to have as an engineer regardless of builds, Lv. 4 Ammo Generator equips Nitrogen Ammo for the team to provide the best suppression in the game.

4th Dummy Skill (extra suit level) Ranked Tier List (S-F)

S Rank

Sonic Flashbang

Provides excellent suppression especially when paired up with nitrogen ammo

Grenade

Versatile skill provides 1 amour shred, able to set off explosive (chain explosive, gas pipe) and only costing 60 Combat Suit Power

Critical Strike

The nothing skill, you get your extra suit level for the lowest energy cost (40) but thats about it.

A Rank

Assault Microdrones

Microdrone cost atleast 50-38 energy to use, when in the early game you need all the energy you need to recharge your UBAS effectively, it is good against trash mobs but thats where its usefulness ends, against Atrocities and Brutes or a larger mob is better off you get in the UBAS and fend them off yourself. At worst it would flew off elsewhere and fight some mobs off screen instead of the one close to you. Really good Late Early Game but usefulness falls off in the Mid Game.

Team Thruster

The go-2-car pooling skill for bringing slow moving teammate who are lagging behind to the front. It grants 100% critical chance to teammates while in the air, a well coordinated team can burst down bosses like Hell Spawn while doing it all in style. the only downside is that well, You mostly be piloting the UBAS

B Rank(UBAS support)

Reaper Turret

Cost a lot of energy to equip and deploy unless it's at max level, acts as a Metal Shield while providing some Overwatch support.

Rocket Ammo

Provide secondary ammo to explosive type weaponry (Rocket Launcher, Missile Launcher, Grenade Launcher). UBAS are naturally weak to enemies with amour, shredding those amour are a huge boost for the UBAS to finish them off.

Rapid Respond

cause one singular enemy to be afflicted with -90% suppression regeneration debuff, low cooldown means you can apply this debuff with no in between delay. Allow capturing all enemy with capture trap easily, providing 20% damage boost to the whole team's weapon damage depended on threat level.

C Rank

Repeller Pylon

Cost 100 energy to equip, to scare enemy every 12 seconds???

Fortify and Rebuild

Cost 100 energy to equip so you can repair walls and reinforce doors when doors are one of your biggest weakness, yea not really a good choice.

D Rank

Smoke Grenade

Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Don't

Trash Rank

Electric Pillars

Costs 75 energy to equip, it breaks in a few uses, only viable at max level just so that it can drain everyone's energy when you walk through it... including your UBAS.

Utility Skill Basic Charger. Provide some additional Energy for your UBAS early to mid game

Repair. Heals your UBAS by 30% so that it may tank more damage

WEAPONSPrimary

SMG or GAR

While SMG does slightly more damage than GAR, we will mostly be looking at their system item pickup. SMG sys increases your movement speed for a short time while the GAR sys Provide Designate for the team. Use SMG for your personal survival ability, use GAR for team support.

Mods:

Flamethower, Stock Capacitor, Dual Mag

Flamethower are good for early biomass clearing for early Suit Level. Stock Capacitor increase the energy needed to fire your weapon so use it sparingly.

Secondary

Thunder

Great for early game self defense and doesn't encumbers the user.

MEDALSMedal of Survival

Increase the pilot's HP by 100, as a UBAS user the survival of the Pilot is the biggest priority

Hawk Eyed Ribbon of Combat

Provides 1 extra starting Suit Level, it decreases your energy regen but the pilot will receive full energy regen while inside the UBAS most of the time so the downside is mostly negated

Hellfire Combat Award

provides extra healing and a buffer against the Bleed ailment.

Distinguished Service Cross

A word of Caution, while DSC provides extra starting suit level and +1 energy regen, it decreases a pilot's HP by 20%. The survival of the pilot is extremely important but if you want to risk it big use DSC, if you want to play it safe use the first 3 medals mentioned above.

THE ROOKIE BUILDSo you just started with no cool toys under your name, you got your first UBAS after hours and hours of play and now you made it. This Loadout is for the new recuits, you don't need much to be unlock in order to use it.

Primary Weapons

GAR good option for any new players, Gar System grants player the ability to Designate Target, removing 30% kinetic resistance on a single boss threat monster. Good Team Support Option.

Optional Mods: Energy ammo (Extra Suppression & Damage)

SMG does good damage up close, SMG System gives the User extra damage and a little speed boost for survivability. Good Personal Survival Option.

Optional Mods: Light Stock (Extra RPM), Enhanced Frame (Extra RPM)

Secondary Weapons

Thunder deals high kinetic damage, good against boss atrocities and Desecrator Leaders making it an Excellent Option for self-defense.

Optional Mods: none

Automatic Shotgun deals decent destructive damage, good against swarms and Desecrator Leaders. Modding it with the Suppress Frame provide the highest suppression value per shot (48) making capturing mobs easier. Excellent Option for trash clear and Suppression.

Optional Mods: Suppress Frame (extra suppression), Light Stock (Extra RPM)

Energy: 500 | 550 | 700 | 850 | 1,000

Cooldown: 500s | 440s | 380s | 320s | 260s

Speed: ?(default) ; ?+10%(Reactor Core)

Resistances: 0%Kinetic 95%Destructive 95%Energy

Primary Skills

1st Skill: Assault Charge (Dash)

Usage

Dashes 30 Meters. Activating any explosive in it's path (chain explosive, landmines, gas pipe)

Does 300 damage to passing mobs + Stomping Damage to any passing structures (Cars, barrels etc)

Pilots must ensure the path they are dashing through is absolutely clear of Obstacles as the dash is prone to bugging out (client side issue only), when it bugged out it consumes your energy and the dash is cancelled with cooldown.

Pilot should mostly use dash on the sidewalk or open field for 90% success rate of the dash activating.

2nd Skill: Micro Missile Barrage (Trash Skill)

Usage

Don't

Fires a barrage of 8 Micro Missiles explode in a 4 Meters Radius, each dealing 8,000 damage for a total of at most 64,000 damage based on impact radius, applying the Broken Debuff(-5% both Kinetic Resistances & Destructive Resistances up to a maximum of -25% debuff) .

Doesnt specific how short of a range this skill has, Useless Trash Skill that drains 120 energy only for you to sometimes miss because of it's short range

Only viable on Biomass(20% destructive resistance) with >45,000 HP or Hell Spawn during its weakness/debuff stage (refer to Versus Bestiary Section)

Doesn't do its supposed damage anyways due to a bug that cause the missiles to kill each other

note: DO NOT use this skill on Biomass, you can destroy a >45,000HP Biomass with The Cannon and Trampling using at least half of what Missile barrage uses.

3rd Skill: Smoke Screen

Usage

Drops down a 20 Meters Radius Wall of Smoke equivalent to Heavy's Smoke Wall at max level for 15 seconds.

Just like the Heavy's Smoke Wall, it applies 50 suppression per second to any enemies in it.

Using this skill on high threat targets like Thanatos, Specimen, Fluffy.... etc can cause them to be almost perma-stun / frozen with nitro ammo from teammate's gun fire.

Note: This skill is arguably the most powerful ability. A UBAS with only Smoke Screen is enough support for the team (More on Smoke Screen later)

4th Skill: Power Stomp

Usage

Stomping the ground causing enemies in a 30 Meters Radius to be stunned for 4 seconds, dealing 1,500 Kinetic Damage.

Reduces panic amongst your teammate when getting caught off guard by multiple high threat targets.

Cancels Monster's attack with the right timing.

Extends Hell Spawn's vulnerability.

Secondary/Utility Skill

Power Strike

Usage

Throw a punch, dealing 7,500 Kinetic Damage in a 120-160 degree cone within a 2 Meter Radius.

Note: Power Strike cost 10 energy to deal 7,500 Kinetic Damage, while shooting your cannon with 10 energy deal 2,500 explosive damage.

It's a 200% damage bonus, meaning any monsters that have kinetic damage and destructive damage differences of <50% is worth punching.

Hotjoin Bug

When hotjoining a game as a UBAS, your body will be vulnerable to any Projectile/Area of Effect Based Damage despite being inside a UBAS. Death and revive is the only remedy.

Leave Mech Bug

When spamming the "V" button to leave your UBAS, it will trick the game thinking you are still inside the UBAS when you are not thus not being able to aim with your weapons correctly and at worst skill became unusable. Death and revive is the only remedy.

Missile Bug

Missile Barrage's Missiles kills each other on contact. Pray to our lord and savior Syrus to one day fix it.

Ability denial Bug

Rarely some of your skill became grey out and unusable, it is an extremely rare bug. Fire your cannon a few times to fix, leave and re-enter UBAS if bug persist.

Camera Bug

Camera become stuck in WASD mode, pressing the change camera button "T" twice to reset it

Dash Bug

Trying to dash when a solid object or a door frame is in the way would cause dash activation to fail and still ate you energy. Never dash into a door and only on sidewalks/empty roads.

Lag Bug

Crazy ♥♥♥♥ happens when you pilot a UBAS and your ping with the host is extremely terrible.

Movement leave bug

Piloting your UBAS in RTS mode while leaving your UBAS will cause your UBAS to still walk toward your last destination, this is a advantageous bug.

Hellspawn Infinite battery charge bug

While getting inside your UBAS and the Hellspawn destroy all your battery as the animation is playing midway, it will cause whatever the energy regeneration of the UBAS was at the time to freeze thus granting positive energy regeneration up to the maximun of +6/eng per second.

Field Training 101 - Prologue

So you have finally got your desired build, there will be a lot of Good Habits you need to acquire and Bad Habits to get rid of. This section of the guide will focus on getting new UBAS players up to speed with the team and learn how to be a good UBAS player in easily digestible steps.

Chapter 3: Movement and Environmental Hazards

Chapter 4: Trigger Discipline

Chapter 6: Castle Doctrine

Chapter 7: Team's Lifeline

Epilogue

Chapter 1: Rule 1, Cardio

After Spawning on the map, you need to farm experience point to level up your suit for skill points. Follow the host and keep up with them, in this state you are vulnerable. Experience Point can be farmed by killing mobs, looting lockers & armory, Turning on Power Relays.

Put 2 skill points into Ammo Generator, begin making ammo for the team by standing very close to one of your teammate and activating the skill. Make sure you are always generating ammo when you can, once you are full (10 Max Clip) rememebr to press the 'X' key to drop 3 Clip of Ammunition so you can make more ammo as activating the skill while you are full wastes 3 ammo.

additionally if you are running ahead of the team try and stop by some places to loot lockers for more ammunition and items.

Chapter 2: UBAS Pre-ride Inspection

Wow you reached level 2 and have 5 skill points in total!!! Don't get cool feet now, de-level all available Skills to get your skill points back with the 'Ctrl + Skill Number' Key. Max out your UBAS Skill and always Max it out before calling, it's either Max UBAS or no UBAS at all. Once called, de-level your UBAS Skill all the way to level 1 and congratulation, you have a level 5 UBAS with 4 points to spend, max level your Advance Charge Battery Skill.

AMBUSH!!! you weren't looking and all of a sudden a big horde of trash is running directly at you, do not panic! Call the UBAS directly on yourself, run as fast as you can towards the side with the least amount of enemies to the very edge outside of the red circle and stay there, shoot at any enemy running at you away from the run circle and tank the hits from the mobs that are inside the circle. Watch as the swarm get crushed by the UBAS, wait for 1-2 sec to compensate for the lag so the UBAS don't crush you then run like hell into the UBAS.

WARNING!!! any monsters that took 10k explosive damage and survive will in turn destroy the UBAS, use this maneuver at your own risk. Incapacitated Marine still counts as an entity and will take infinite amount of damage thus destroying the UBAS if it's called on them

Once inside the UBAS take Note, if your camera isn't following you in WASD mode press the 'T' key twice to fix the camera. any of your skill is grey out and not working? stop shooting to use them, if the problem persist leave the UBAS and re-enter, bug caused due to the Pilot trying to use a skill and shooting at the same time. want to leave the UBAS in an emergecy? DO NOT PANIC, gently press the 'V' Key once and only ONCE, failure to do so will cause the Pilot to be in a buggy state where the game don't recognize you as being outside of the UBAS, while in this buggy state Pilot can not aim properly and there's a chance You can't use your skill anymore.

Chapter 3: Movement & Environmental Hazards

Playing in WASD mode is the way to go for UBAS players as AI pathing with RTS mode will get your UBAS in dangerous situation or getting stuck on a barricade. Your UBAS tramples in a 180 degrees angle in front of the Pilot, with a 1 meter radius.

Any Mobs / Vehicles / Barricade / barrels will take damage if you walk next to them. Walking next to Fire barrels and Vehicle will cause considerable damage to your UBAS if they explode near you. It would be best if you avoid them by facing away or shoot them, only shoot the ones in view as to not destroy any possible useful item especially on Wave 12 when legendary item such as Erebus Lifedrone spawns.

Next up, you wanna learn how to properly use Assault Charge, when you try to dash into a solid object that your UBAS can't walk through, the dash won't activate if you are lucky and at worst, you dash activated but you don't dash and it still ate your energy. To properly Dash first position yourself on the sidewalk, the sidewalk is your best friend as there are rarely any obstacle, make sure there aren't any obstacle in the way and Dash away.

Got stuck on the terrain? press the 'T' key into RTS mode and right click away to get unstuck, then press 'T' again to get back into WASD mode.

Be aware of any random explosive in public games, Assault Charge are like constant explosion, passing any explosive and active gas pipe will set them off doing extreme damage to your UBAS.

Chapter 4: Trigger Discipline

It causes 1 Energy to Fire 1 round with your Auto-cannon, as such Pilots are required to learn Trigger Discipline. What you're looking to do is to balance out your Energy Reserve with your Health, if your total Health is on 90% and your Energy is on 70%, stop shooting and tank some hits.

Mostly shoot when you have a trail of trash mobs following you, as they accumulate behind you they will body block each other in other to hit you, just fire off a few rounds to kill all of them once they hit critical mass ( when there's a lot of them ).

You must get familiar with the damage resistances of Bestiary, if the difference between the kinetic and destructive resistance is >40% it is always more worth it to punch than shooting the main gun. UBAS biggest weakness is against armored type enemies, each amour block is worth 5,000 hp plus whatever resistance the monsters have so only shoot at unarmored targets with low explosive resistance.

Against singular trash mob it's best to just trample it then shooting by simply facing your UBAS at it, even if you stand still and spin your UBAS it would do trample damage in your vicinity.

Never and I mean NEVER use Missile Barrage.

Chapter 5: SRB Field Maintenance Routine

Smoke Screen, Repair, Battery. These are the habit you must always have when you leave your UBAS no matter what, Smoke Screen deploys a wall of smoke surrounding you creating a buffer zone against fast movers so you would have time to react. Smoke Screen debuff enemy movement speed by -55%, 50 suppression per tick and -10% max suppression

Repair your UBAS if its damaged then place down a Battery, any left over energy could be use to generate Nitrogen Ammo, shooting monsters inside the smoke screen can Perma-froze them as long as you kept a consistence stream of Nitrogen Bullet, one tap-tap your gun to not run out of nitrogen as easily.

Always place batteries whenever you can, once Smoke Screen is over, get back inside your UBAS when you deem necessary, position yourself behind the UBAS against any immediate threat that you can't kill while keeping your movement to a minimum for maximum energy regeneration, defend your position till smoke screen is back then repeat the whole process again.

Chapter 6: Castle Doctrine Build

UBAS & You, A Complete In-Depth Mecha Guide image 185

Smoke Screen is UBAS's Greatest Ability, it applies 50 Suppression every ticks suppressing even a Thanatos with ease. It slows targets down by -55% speed together with Suppressed Debuff, makes target grind almost to a halt, adding Nitrogen or Energy Damage in the mix and the target will Permanently Stun-lock as long as the Smoke Screen Persist.

I call this Build Castle Doctrine, it helps fortify your position and being able to hunker down so long your teammates shoots whatever is touching the smoke. Simply Spam Smoke Screen when you can and keep placing battery at you position, use Nitrogen Ammo from your Lv.4 Ammo Generator to keep monsters at bay by slowly 1 tap-tap-tapping your fire button. See any mobs with Armor, use Missile Swarm to shred them, once Smoke Screen is almost over get back into the UBAS and start shooting and tanking, use your Stomp wisely to avoid damage or save teammates, when smoke screen is up again do it all over.

As UBAS's biggest strong point is Defenses, you are what keeping your teammates between you and 4 rampaging Fluffies, you halt bosses advances with nitrogen ammo and shred them for your panicking teammates to mob up whats left. Your relative positive in your team is to be in front of them.

Chapter 7: Team's Lifeline

You have train hard and past all the field training exercise, now it is thing to give out your full potential, running solo mission, be a 1 Man Army that you are meant to be.

Break away from your teammates, start memorizing all of the calibration terminal locations and prioritize activating them. Saw a mission objective near by and your team is half across the map? go do it for them, solo it, memorize the mission chains, know what to expect and how to encounter them.

air drops landing near by you? go get'em them dosh tiger, hog all the secondary ammo and a trap plus a fibrin bandage as a bonus. Your heavy running out of ammo? problem solved, drop off all the ammo you hog from that airdrop plus a little something extra after passively using Ammo Generator to make ammo during your SRB Maintenance Routine.

Clear Biomass, Gather up items like Tokugawa Overload, clear objectives, making map objectives, have epic 1 versus 1 against the different type of bosses, creating epic Last Man Standing helicopter pad holdout after a Team Party Kill to revive everyone, carry the team on your shoulder.

You are the Team Lifeline, this is what you would expect from a general UBAS Engineer Gameplay. You probably be spending more than half your time just charging you Mech, but you yield for all those intense moments which makes it all worthwhile.

Epilogue

There you have it folk, the Do and Don't of a UBAS pilot. This is where the Tutorial usually ends but there is more to learn. I may or may not release this Guide soon but I will try to provide regular updates, sections like Versus Bestiary and the likes are underway and there are multiple fun Achievement i thought of as a milestone for you as a challenge.

It took me so long to write this guide cause I wanted it to be perfect but that would just be a excuse to procrastinate, I am very passionate about UBAS yet sometimes I felt lonely in this style of play, amidst all the toxicity of players that doubt me, doubting the UBAS, and are too blinded by their egos to see for what UBAS have to offer despise its overwhelmingly positive performance. I wish more players would give UBAS some love and learn what is to learn and strive to get better.
