The Prophesy of Pendor Complete Guide

The Prophesy of Pendor Complete Guide

Goal Of The Game

The Main goal of Prophesy of Pendor is to create a single Kingdom and unite the land while also being on good terms with a certain faction called "The Noldor". This also means smaller factions (Called Knighthood Orders) must be destroyed as well for complete victory. There is the option to support an Order and lead them to their own victory above all other Orders, but, this route is bugged and not recommended especially for players new to Prophesy of Pendor. For now we'll simply focus on being the King/Queen of Pendor ourselves.

A disclaimer here: Prophesy of Pendor is quite a difficult mod especially in the beginning, but this guide will show you how to end up practically a demi-god of warfare, though it won't be easy. This is not meant to discourage or scare away anyone.

The Lore Of Pendor

Many ages ago Calradia was united by one ruler whom gave the land it's (then) new name of Pendor; the nation prospered while the people engaged themselves with economy and trade. But the land fell into ruin after a horrid plague killed more than half of the country's population. Failing to avoid the epidemic caused the royal family and it's bloodline to die with the Kingdom. Great internal strife began, every noble and lord fought to seize the throne and within a month had completely destroyed the nation and all it had stood for. The neighboring countries took advantage of the opportunity and began assaulting the broken country for themselves leading to many bloody war and forming several independent factions.

Factions

The Fierdsvain:

The Fierdsvain were created from the "Mercenary Jarls" whom came from the North, sent by the Baccus Empire to the West they ended up settling there when they decided moving back North proved to be too difficult, when they settled with the native Pendorians their respective culture's intertwined and grew together forming what is now the Fierdsvain. The Fierdsvain thrive on war and trade, a majority of them are vicious and cunning people while still being very brave. Koningur Valdis is the leader of the Fierdsvain.

The Kingdom of Sarleon:

The Kingdom of Sarleon descends from the original Kingdom of Pendor. It is located in the center of Pendor and is ruled by King Ulrich a descendant of King Alfred- the founder of Sarleon. With a very antagonistic and controversial view of Knighthood Orders (including their own) they strive to create and lead a single faction.

The Kingdom of Ravenstern:

This kingdom was formed after a successful and unified act of pushing back a barbarian invasion laid by those settled in the mountains. As the barbarian's laid siege to the city "Rane", the greater lords of the northern nations provided no assistance, despite Rane's pleas, though a small army formed by the lesser lords marched to Rane's defense. Once the invasion was fought off, the army decided to declare their independence from the Northern lords and created the knighthood, "Order of the Dragon", a short time later the Ravenstern empire was announced once the Order of the Dragon cut off ties with every other nation. The ruler of Ravenstern is King Gregory IV, the Grandson of Gregory I, whom led the charge in the defense of Rane.

The D'Shar Principalities:

The Shavanir Desert, once consisting of many different nomadic tribes now "united" by Kadan Bahadur Khan under "The D'Shar Principalities" their cities were formerly trading centers but grew over time into towns as more and more mercenary groups and nomads settled into them. The D'Shar are a very self-conflicted group, barely a faction due to how much internal strife there is. The lords are largely a backstabbing and hateful bunch, ignoring Kadan Bahadur Khan's orders often and preferring to follow their own bloody pursuits with an army of cavalry troops to which the D'Shar are widely known for.

The Baccus Empire:

A enormous army both in size and power landing on the shores of Pendor battling and claiming with little stopping them, except a civil war which broke out-- stopping the campaign and the Empire itself. With the Baccus Emporer assassinated, the leader of the campaign General Oasar disbanded the Baccus Empire and renamed himself Overlord of Janos as it divided into small tribes, independent cities, and orders; the most notable and prevalent of which is the "Snake Cult" led by an upstart called "The Overlord". Currently the "New Baccus Empire" (Now simply, the Baccus Empire) is ruled by Marius Imperator whom is in constant war with the Snake Cult.

The Noldor:

The Noldor are the last trace of the ancient races of Pendor. During the horrific "War of the Titans", The Noldor lost everything — greatness, power, and even their ability to use magic, now they live in isolation. Found in the Eastern forests of Pendor they are extremely hostile to anyone who tries to enter their territory. Among the Noldorin are their great generals Aeldarian, Ithilrandir, Faergwethanir, and Caelvanir (Although Aeldarian and Ithilrandir are the only ones found roaming the map). The Noldor are pure-blooded elves, though they've forgotten how to cast spells when they fled from their native land, most of their accumulated knowledge remained in the form of scrolls. Thanks to this, they enchant their armor and weapons causing them to be considered the best in all the land; couple this with their natural superhuman statistics and the Noldor are undoubtedly the strongest faction in all of Pendor (Late game the Player Faction can rival but not surpass the Noldor in terms of arsenal).

Irregardless, the player's Alliance with the Noldor is required to complete the game, in turn this will give you access to their equipment and unnaturally strong units (in exchange for the Qualis Stones). Noldor troops, as it was written above, possess high attributes and skills. A Maiden Ranger's composite bow has tremendous damage, high speed, and perfect accuracy, which can make just one single troop a killing machine against a band of enemies; their armor and shields have the highest defense in the game and their horses have the greatest speed.

Beginning Tip

Rane and Valonbray both hold a secret chest holding very valuable loot. For Valonbray, at the dock (sea-side of the city) is a very large ship which you can board, on the deck sits a chest which you can open and take it's contents. For Rane, go through the front gate, make a left into the alley, go to the end and on your right should be a pile of hay, sticking out of it slightly is a hidden chest, this chest contains a Qualis Gem which is very valuable ( DO NOT SELL IT OR LOSE IT).

Walkthrough

Becoming a demi-god of combat

With the Qualis Gem acquired from Rane begin searching through all the taverns in Pendor until you run across a fellow by the name of "Brother Randalf", go through the dialogue and trade the Qualis Gem for the map. Once done search the map for a new location, the "Hidden mines of Al-Aziz". Enter it and you will find two characters, Hamidaron and Aziz Hermit.Hamidaron will offer you one of 5 "rune weapons" in return for a Qualis Gem and a Gold Bar the Hermit will upgrade said weapons for another Qualis Gem and some Wine (He will not talk until you have Wine in your inventory). Gold Bars are aquired through loot after battles and Qualis Gems are gained from capturing Unique NPCs such as Warlord Zulkar or Wolfbode the Slayer (explained further later). The best option for what weapons and what upgrades would be the Two-Handed Sword and the Bow. When you're ready to upgrade them (have 2 Qualis Gems) then go to the Hermit with Wine in hand and you'll be greeted with Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald upgrades. Choose Sapphire for both weapons, with that you down you know have the fastest and most damaging weapons in the game. The sword swings faster than any other weapon and with the highest damage (to my knowledge), and the bow has nearly 100% accuracy with amazing speed making it nearly an automatic bow.

(in new version the brother Randalf thing is outdated. Instead of requiring a gem, he now requires a large bag of diamonds to trade the map)

Easy Money

The best way to raise money in the beginning is through tournaments. Go to the arena in any city and ask the trainer where tournaments are being held, once you find out, head there. During this section you will undoubtedly find out how dangerous traveling around Pendor is, you can barely carry 100 men among armies of 200 - 500. You'll get there too, don't worry! But jump from tournament to tournament betting 500 each round and you will get 20,000 denars for each win. Easy money, usually.

With those two done...

It is time to either join a Kingdom (Personal recommendation, Ravenstern) or begin our own. The former is the better option as this will give you plenty of time to build relations, figure out locations, make money, build up your skills and army, etc, etc. Regardless at some point our reign will be declared, once a castle and kingdom is taken and formed then the government will be run through your minister, when asked about what culture your kingdom is-- choose Pendor. They're very cheap and higher tier troops prove very deadly against all other foes. The easiest way to gain vassals is capturing nobles whom you have a good relation with, through prisoner dialogue you can ask them to join you.

Where And How To Get Qualis Gems

The Prophesy of Pendor Complete Guide image 32

As already covered, one can be found in Rane

Another can be found in a chest hidden in the Red Brotherhood Refuge, this location is found after buying a map from travelers. The gem is in a chest near the cave.

The best option for Qualis Gems is as a reward gained from Unique NPCs. When captured, through prisoner dialogue with the NPC you can let them go in exchange for a Qualis Gem.

After obtaining access to Elacrai, every first four days of each month a tournament is held, there is a chance for the prize being a Qualis Gem.

Unique NPCs

Unique NPCs are apart of the secondary factions, these armies/parties stand out from normal generated parties especially with enemy count (usually 300+). When you defeat one of these armies and capture the leader you are given these options through prisoner dialogue with them.

Require them to swear an oath to never return to Pendor (Eldarian, ithilrandir, and Maltis will give you special equipment). They will honour it and be exited from the game forever, 3-5 honour and fame is awarded to you.

Killing them causes them to be exited from the game forever and you to lose 3-5 honour and fame

Let them go in exchange for a Qualis Gem or Diamonds (lesser option) meaning they can return. The is the best option resulting in an infinite amount of Qualis Gems as long as you can defeat them. For Maltise, Aeldarian, Ithilrandir, Burilgi, Alaric, Obrist, Rasmus, Eyegrim, and the Three Seers, you can release them in exchange for armor for your own Custom Knighthood Order, this option is not recommended.

State And Knightly Orders

Knighthood Orders (KHO's) are minor factions , they patrol around the map and can usually be ignored. Despite this they are actually quite important to the game's story. At your leisure join any of the factions, for me I went for the Shadow Wolves and the Silvermist Rangers, recommending the latter as it can help relations with the Noldor. Helping the KHO will reward you with rank points (found in Character Reports) and once you've amassed 300 the "Order Grandmaster" quest will begin. There are many details to this quest so here is a link to the wiki-guide https://pop3.fandom.com/wiki/Knighthood_Order_Quests#The_Order_Grandmaster

You can also create your own KHO, this is a extremely expensive process and truthfully only a side project but can give you troops that are almost-- if not superior to the Twilight Knights and other Noldor.

Companions

The Prophesy of Pendor Complete Guide image 68

Traveling through Pendor you can meet companions in the various taverns ready to help you in your journey! For a cost....

It is worth noting that, unlike the original "native" companions, Pendor's companions are much more expensive (For example, Sir Roland will cost you 8000 denars). But they are highly experienced and well-armed. The starting skills and experience of the companions vary slightly in each save. Although attributes, equipment, and weapon profiencey are always the same.

Each companion costs 3x more than a normal unit of the same level as well as take 3x as long to fully heal after wounded in battle. On the other hand, they can be trained and equpped as the player chooses, sent to raise the Right To Rule, or even train troops for your CKHO.

Each companion likes and dislikes one other (image included)

Companions As Lords

Nobleman Upstanding Nobleman Martial Nobleman Benefactor Martial Nobleman Benefactor Nobleman Benefactor Nobleman Nobleman
Benefactor Martial Nobleman Benefactor Martial Nobleman Good-natured Nobleman Mercantile Benefactor Benefactor

Much like native, you can grant fiefs to your companions if you become a King. Some companions will field special troops along with their normal culture troops or a whole new recruiting template (like Lethaldiran with Noldor, Donavan with Barclay...). All companions start with 1000 renown if turned into vassals. Commoners when becoming lords have three different personalities:

Roguish: Tries to live life as a lord to the full (something between bad-tempered and cunning) : Tries to improve the quality of life of his people (similar to martial) : Tries to maximize fief's earning potential (similar to bad-tempered/sadistic)

Note: Making a commoner a vassal will drop your relation with most lords (not only the ones in your kingdom) upon talking to them.

In bold are highlighted good & decent personalities or good social status. Adonja, Alyssa, Kassim, Riva, Frederick (despite his awesome troops), and Sara make terrible lords until you have so many vassals you don't need to care. However, despite his Cunning personality, Lethaldiran's army is archer-heavy and includes Noldor troops. Making him a vassal has its advantages, but he shouldn't be one of your first choices. Likewise, Frederick's Mettenheim forces are worth having on your side once you don't have to care about keeping all your vassals happy.

Sir Roland and Ansen are by far the best two options for your first vassals. Since Ansen is a good option, you can also make Sir Rayne a vassal and open your party up to Boadice and Frederick to replace the other two in your party.

*: They have special recruitment templates, meaning that they will recruit other troops and with different numbers than the standard kingdom recruitment templates (to see these, go to that companion's page).

**: the companion will take by default the template from the kingdom her awarded fief belonged to, he/she will get soldiers from the faction of the original, even if its a village. If she is then given a walled fief, no matter to which faction it will belong, she will remain with the original culture, and train troops of that culture no in that walled fief's garrison as well.

From testing: I took Pendor culture. Then recruited and made vassal Leslie, giving her Tulbuk (a D'Shar village) as her first fief. Then gave her Valonbray (a Fierdsvain city), she kept on recruiting D'Shar troops on her army AND now as well Order of the Dawn troops (as Valonbray starts with a Dawn chapter). On purpose lost Torbah (D'Shar city to which Tulbuk is attached), so Leslie only had Valonbray, she kept on recruiting D'Shar and Dawn troops on her party and on Valonbray. So it's set-up at the moment Leslie or Sara are given their first fief.

***: when made vassal, she will be called Tribune Julia. She is the only one with this special naming convention.

You can change the template of companions to the default one of the culture you selected to . To do so, talk to them "I wish to ask you something" - "I want you to train your soldiers according to the customs of my kingdom".

Companions with * (special templates) will say they won't train "inferior soldiers" and refuse to change

The Old Tale

The Old Tale - A quest added in update 3.9.4. Consists of two parts.

Part 1

Talk to the scribe Vorador in Poinsbruk. Ask him what rumors he has heard during his travels. He will tell you that some of the tavern's regulars got drunk and started talking about a castle near the village of Kwynn and ask you to find out about it.

In Kywnn, ask the local headman about the castle, which is supposedly located near their village. He will first direct you to Seven Cross Keep, but then mention the ruins found at the source of the river, in the mountains. That's what we need.

Go West, to the local mountains. Near the mouth of the river, you will find Old Ruins. The ruins will meet you with broken iron gates and traces of battle (a pile of skeletons and rusted swords). In one of the destroyed buildings, under the rubble, you will find a chest. It will contain a Cracked Griffin shield, a random item, and a Fragile Book (a quest item).

Read this book (requires 8 intelligence). Unlike other books, this one is read much faster, only 4-5 days. After return to Vorador in Poinsbruk

Vorador, after listening to your story, will point out that it was probably the Gairbolt Massacre - an event that the Lions try not to advertise. The last 60 knights of the order of the Gryphon held a feast for the Grand master of the lions, but those 300 knights came not to feast, but to kill those who were still loyal to the old kings of Pendor. The location and details of the massacre were lost until today. Then Vorador advised us not to mention this story to anyone, so as not to incur the wrath of the lions on ourselves and others. You will also get 510 experience points.

However, the ruins still remain... and you can use them....
