Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development

Introduction

SPOILER ALERT

Hi!

In this guide I will show you what I learned after some time in game.

I highly recomend discover this game by yourself.

You can check this guide if you stuck or want additional informations.

Core of this game is managing mana and farming familiarity.

Familiarity let you spend less mana on things you do. To increse familiarity just... do things.

First Steps

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 9

At the beginning of your loop you shoud be fighting with 2-3 rats (1).

My copule first loops was only fighting them (up, right, fight x2, end of loop).

After some loops you can spend points in altar (2).

I chosed SPIRIT so when i interact with fireflies (3) I can use their potential.

(single use of fireflie gives 500 mana, if you use them when your limit is 500 then you waste some mana).

Now you can try to fight with fence. It seems to be tought enemy but when you farm some familiarity it shoud not take you too long to destroy it.

When fence is alredy down I bet you are bit swety. Its time to refresh at fireflies (5).

Best thing you can do after that is to burn that dirty rats in bonfire (6).

It gives you Rodent affinity which increases xp that rats give.

Spend some time on burning their corpses.

After a while you shoud be able to fight 6-7 rats (1) at once and spend (2) much more points than one.

SPIRIT will increase your mana pool by 200 per point. HEART will speed up game by 30%.

BODY will give you 0.5 damage and regain 2 health.

In my first playtrought i did not invest in HEART. It was mistake! 3 points there makes a difrence.

At (7) you will find "Wooden club" that increase your damage by 20%! That's nice!

Go for other rat nest (8) spend your points on altar and refresh on fireflies.

Invest some in BODY because next enemy (9, 10) is much more a challenge.

If you stuck remember to use bonfire to get more xp from enemies and remember this is idle game, gring is good. Critter tails (loot from 9) can also be used in bonfire.

I Need More Mana!

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 29

Now i will not tell you what to do step by step.

Now it's time for tips!

At (14) there is a barrel where you can find one small mana potion.

It gives 500 mana, just like fireflies but its used automatically when your mana reach 10% of max.

(15) is better sword 50%.

Don't be angry when actions take almost all your mana, farm some loops for familiarity.

(16) is mineshaft where you can fight 3 times to get bats.

Bats are usefull because when you interact with Old Man (12) he give you small mana potion for one bat. And you have 3 bats!

Don't hesitate to speak to him. After copule chitchats he will learn you haw to use mana potions better. Each level of this buff increase mana that potion gives by 15%. If you have some time you can left game to get buff to max fifth level.

When you have potions and you know haw to use them you can look at the scarecrow (13).

By interacting with him you will learn skill "Hand to hand". It increase damage you do by 0.1 for each level.

To get (11) open you need key from critter (10) or after copule talks with Old Man (12) he will give you a key. When you have key you don't need to interact with gate, just pass it.

Remember to check (!!), Light elf hides there. You will read about them later.

In (17) you can find shield that gives 3 defense. It is nice to have defense while fighting.

Defense is like Force Field. It takse part of damage you shoud get. Also it regains to its max after each fight.

House above (18) is inhabited by Fisherman. In my opinion his buff is not that usefull.

Final oponent on this map is Beast (19). It's wery tought. Remember to take sword and shield and invest in BODY, you can try different builds, adjusting points.

You Call That Defense?

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 48

Rats are no match for you, critters too, what now?

It's time to change map!

At (18) you can go down.

This map i smaller. A lot smaller.

Things shoud intrest you here are:

(21) chest with bottle of wine.

(22) Samurai NPC

(!!) another Light elf

Chest is simple, just interact and you get wine, it will be usefull later.

More intresting is Samurai girl. You need speek to her a lot.

Ffirst level of her buff is unlocked at 10 familiarity, final 54.

It increase your starting HP up to additional 5.

Get all 4 mana pots and speak, speak, speak!

While gathering mana potions don't forget to train on scarecrow.

At Familiarity level 12 you unlock training with her.

It allows you to spend gold to train Defense Efficiency.

What that means?

When you have 50% efficiency and mob hits you for 2 you lose 1 HP and 1 defense. ( I know you not but defense parry will be later on) At 75% it will be 0.5 HP and 1.5 defense.

But wait. Gold? Where i can get some gold?

You can sell carrots to Fisherman but naaah....

There is other way.... more bloody... Kill Old Man and you get 15 gold. Fisherman gives 20 but he is more durable and can kill you on early stages.

Train some with her.

For example you can take 15 gold from Old Man body and spend it on 15 trainings with her, rest of loop talk to her.

This skill is not very important now because Beast anyway eat all your defense. But it helps with rats and critters.

You Filthy Guard Let Me Pass!

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 74
Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 75

Its time to get rid of that guard (20) on the right.

To do this you must have wine from chest (21) and go... left.

Thats right. You need to kill Beast (19).

If you have trouble with that try to kill all mobs on map and attack it while your BODY stat is high.

Hand to hand from scarecrow is usefull. Sword and shield from chest too.

If somehaw you are still too weak burn some more rats and tails in bonefire for more points to spend.

After it's dead your passage to new map is open. You can play several loops to kill Beast so the mana cost is lower. It will drop Beast tooth which can be burn in bonfire for new skill.

You can use Observatories (23) to reveal parts of map. It take time to see anything but its worth to spend there a while. If you are lazy you have map below.

At this stage our main goal is to get 20 familiarity with Drunk Guards (24).

If you don't bring wine (21) with you, cost of speak is almost 10 times higher so it's good to have it with you.

At 15 familiarity they teach you haw to sew a cape from 20 dead rats. On the first levels it's weaker than shield but at 34 familiarity its same and on 42 and 53 much better.

So when your Rodent cape buff hit level 3 you can delete taking shield from chest (17).

At familiarity 20 they will tell u a password that let you pass the sober guard (20) on first map.

Other things on this map are:

(25) Fire bats - they give you 3000 mana on kill so its wise to have max pool around that when you kill them. They also give you 50 spirit xp which is used to skill "Spirit control"

This skill increases your mana pool by 100 for each point invested in SPIRIT below or equal to the skill level.

e.g. You have Spirit control on level 2. You invest 3 points in SPIRIT. First give you 300 (total 800), second gives you 300 (total 1100), third give you default 200 (total 1300)

(26) More barells with small mana potions, be sure you grab them.

(27) Another rat nest

(28) Biger brother of earlier meted scarecrow. Takes 100 hits instead of 10

(!!) Light elf

Don't forget that you don't need to do everything in mail loop. You can create separate loops to talk to NPCs, fight scarecrows, using bonfire.

The City Of Dreams

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 99
Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 100

After you pass guard (20) you will find yourself in the woods.

Pay attention to barrel with mana potion (31).

If you go down at (34) you will find fire bat, you can kill him but dont go further yet.

Let's back to our woods.

Werecritter is weaker than the Beast (32). You should be fine.

Get some BODY in altar. If you lack of HP you can kill part of fireflies and regain it thanks to Fisherman buff.

Now the Beast... (32). Try to kill it. Build some BODY, get some mana and welcome in the city (33)!

Dont forget about Light elf (!!).

Start with Observatory (34), tak some mana potions from barrels (35) an lets show begin.

You can spot 3 Villagers (36) in this part of city. Talk to them. You can talk 7 times with every Villager. They give 1 gold per talk. 3*7 = 21

After talking with them you can kill them. They loot Villager Hat. You can use it in bonfire for another skill. But its main purpose is to sell it in Pawn shop (42) you will get plenty of gold from hats.

(37), (38), (39), (40), (41) are shops. You can talk with them to get speek familiarity to level 50.

Every 10 level of familiarity, they lower the price by 1 gold.

Don't talk with them yet. Check fragment about Blacksmith in "Dirty Jokes" section of this guide.

For sure we want buy some mana potions (41) you should have gold from Villagers, Pawn shop, Old man and Fisherman. Buy as much as you can but limit is 5. Now do the "Dirty Jokes".

After geting Blacksmith buff, set speek familliarity with every shop to 50.

Your mana pool should be about 5000 to get from big mana potions as much as they can give.

I Knowed There Is Faster Way!

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 119
Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 120

There is a way to get to City faster than from woods.

Go left (43) and you will be in a second part of city.

Search for sewers.

To fully explore sewers you need 20 familiarity.

It will open a way to mineshaft. Now you can also enter mineshaft to end on sewers.

Dirty Jokes

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 127

Now when you have faster way to get to city (16) (44), best to do is speek with Blacksmith (45).

You need to achieve 55 familiarity with him. Its essential.

His buff makes that speaking to people is 50% easier.

From start of the loop gather small mana potions, kill Old Man, go to mineshaft, get hats, sell them, buy big mana potions and speak with Blacksmith as much you can.

When you achieve 55 familiarity you can do other things.

Next good NPC is Caporal (47), you should get her buff to level 5 too.

Now speak with shopkeepers from right side of town. Get other NPC buffs to level 5.

At this moment you should have:

5 shops at 50 familiarity

Old Man - mana potions 75% better.

Fisherman - you can fight 10 fireflies to regain HP

Samurai - starting health +5

Drunk Guards - Rodent Cape 5 armor

Blacksmith - 50% easier speaking

Caporal - 10% of exp restored as mana after kill

Next one is Priest (46) - max HP +12 (total 36) unlocked at 53 familiarity.

You should farm some villagers hat to burn in bonfire to get more xp from them.

Carporal (47) can also teach you Defense Parrying while you fight her. You can try but now you are too weak for last stage of fight.

Defense parrying is defense mitigation.

e.g. 50% efficiency and 50% paryying means that when mob hits you for 2, you lose 1 HP and 0.5 defense.

For next part you will need shoes! Buy them, sword, shield and many potions. You will not have gold for everything so u need adjust potions to what is happening in loop. You die? Take more HP pots. Mana over? Take more mana potions.

But don't forget shoes!

Beginner Guide - HalfWalkthrought - in development image 155

After you buy shoes. Go to (34). You killed bat there when was going to city.

In front of you is in my opinion worst path (49) in the game. You need kill very powerfull mobs. And ground is flooded gras which requires tons of mana. Only way is to farm familiarity here. After some tries adjust potions so they end in same time.

Grind. Grind. Grind.

You can kill bat and use fireflies on the way for now. In later stage you need to skip them to save them for return but now there are yours.

After you get to Necromancer (50) you can use fireflies there and some barrels with mana potions [51].

To unlock Chancelor you need 10 level of familiarity with Necromancer (50).

After that, you will be able to see some ghosts.

Now in new loop you need to go to the right side of the city and look for Puzzled Spirit. It take him some time to appear but he never desappear so u dont't need to hurry. You can take woods path to get to city. Once you spoke to him, boxes after him will be avaliable to traverse. You need to get many Familiarity with them to traverse fast.

Love Is All Around

You live in a basement and don't have a girlfriend! Now u can have one!

All you need is some wine and hours of talking!
