Introduction
It is well known that gacha games are incredibly difficult for someone with extreme gambling traits because they encourage you to make more bets than you should and it is very easy to lose control when making pulls on the banners.
BUT even if Limbus Company has one of the most generous systems out there in the gacha genre, this doesn't mean you should burn everything you have in your hands, much less if you are a casual manager.
As a whale over the decades I can tell you that in no other environment have I seen what can be done with the main currency of the game (Lunacy in this case) because there are gachas in which it is necessary to make a lot of expenses in order to advance the more difficult the content becomes and keeping up with the collection of each and every character requires a lot of time, patience and money.
The good news is that you'll have plenty of opportunities throughout the management process due to the constant gifts you'll receive and how easy it is to farm Lunacy with little to no effort, even if you didn't start at launch.
While I can't guarantee this will be a permanent solution to the urge to spend for the sake of spending or a cure for the "temptation to make a pull"... I can promise you that if you are a F2P player you will have an extremely good time without losing your mind if you follow these basic principles.
So let's go!
What Is Lunacy?
Lunacy is a special type of crystal rose that is used to "perform extractions" in the gacha mainly, in these extractions you can obtain character identities or E.G.O (a kind of ultimate ability) that can be used in combat.
There are two main ways to make extractions/pulls, a x10 that will cost 1300 or an individual extraction that costs 130, however there is a third option that allows you to make a daily extraction for 13 Lunacy that resets every day at 3:00 p.m. (a method of medium utility for a P2P) but it is not so advisable.
Lunacy can also be used for Enkephalin, the main source of energy that allows you to be active, as it is required to play levels or walk through the story mode, but even if this feature can be useful to quickly level up your first identities, it is not so necessary to use it in the long term as you can obtain a lot of energy every day.
For now just keep in mind that the smartest use of Lunacy is the Battle Pass and Walpurgis Night (a special event that usually appears every quarter) where special identities from the prequels Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina will appear, which are usually quite a bit more powerful compared to the regular ones.
Your stacks of Lunacy will be displayed in the progress bar next to the Enkephalin Meters.
How To Gain Lunacy Wealth?
There are two main ways.
The first one is by completing the Mirror Dungeon every week on the hard difficulty which will give you a total of 750 units and the other would be through the Mailbox where they usually consistently give away a variable amount of units that can range from 300 to 1300 depending on the type of bug or error they have fixed, even if it is a holiday season.
However, it is also obtained by completing Events, chapters of the Story Mode, Thread Luxcavation or leveling characters, although in a much smaller amount than the main methods.
If you want to add a layer of speed to your Lunacy acquisition you can consider the most profitable package there is, which would be the monthly subscription that would give you 650 Paid Lunacy and 1950 Free Lunacy at the end of a 30-day period for approximately 7 USD, it can be useful when starting out and is highly recommended to be able to access the Battle Pass.
But the most important resource to maintain a great Lunacy Wealth is your own mindset, because even though it may sound impossible to believe, it will almost never be necessary to spend it, it works more like a reserve currency due to the existence of the Dispenser, something that would be unthinkable in any other gacha environment.
Basic level expenditures are extremely viable when it comes to accelerating your progress in the game.
Battle Pass
In most cases, acquiring a Battle Pass is not worth the money, but not in this case, as it is one of the best decisions you can make as a manager to be able to access endless opportunities to accumulate resources to obtain identities without necessarily having to use Lunacy.
The cost of the Battle Pass is 1300 Paid Lunacy and consists of 120 initial levels along with an endless mode that will continue to give you resources starting at level 121 (Something that I have not even seen in any other battle pass).
Before continuing, you may be wondering what the difference is between Paid Lunacy and Free Lunacy. Although both types are essentially the same currency, the most valuable is Paid Lunacy, since only with this one can you acquire the Premium Battle Pass.
Although there is a package with a cost of 10.99 USD that usually comes out with each start of the Season and that will provide you with those 1300 Lunacy to be able to acquire the Battle Pass, I recommend buying 2 monthly subscriptions that will cost 14 USD but that in general terms will give you Free Lunacy as a bonus, then, with these subscriptions you will have the 1300 Paid Lunacy plus a bonus of 3900 Free Lunacy, something that you can use for something else later and that for a difference of 4 USD ends up being more profitable, of course it will depend on your budget.
The main reason to acquire the Battle Pass is to not only access the Premium E.G.O and some Egoshard Crates, but because if you are able to complete all the 120 levels, you usually get the 1300 back in the form of Free Lunacy, something that is still useful and seems extremely fair to me.
So the main trick is to level up as many levels as you can after 121 to get the most out of it, as each of those extra levels will give you 3 Nominable Egoshard Crates that you can use in the Dispenser, which we'll talk about in a few seconds.
Since the farming process is usually a pain especially when it comes to concepts like materials, artifacts and such, it's completely worth it here because you're not going to relay on RNG, the reward will always be fixed and will be limited to as many levels as you can go up, so I recommend playing a Mirror Dungeon on normal difficulty daily which will help you go up approximately 3 levels, which would give you about 9 crates a day, if you're consistent every month you'd have 270 free crates with hardly any effort, of course you can farm more, but a little daily effort makes it more enjoyable than spending the whole afternoon farming.
*Not to mention that the weekly hard difficulty run will give you around 72 extra nominable crates.
Dispenser
The Dispenser is a marvellous solution to unreasonable gambling and probably this is the only gacha where you will find it.
The premise is based on the exchange of tokens (Egoshard) for an identity or E.G.O drawn directly from the boxes, whether random (red crates) or nominable (yellow crates).
The cost of the E.G.O and three-zero (000) identities is set at 400 tokens of the specific character, while the two-zero (00) identities cost 150 tokens, however it is not very common to bid for the latter since it is very easy to obtain them in the gacha.
So it is precisely for this reason that pulling on the gacha is something that should be rare, even if you have to wait a week to extract something in the Dispenser after the end of a promotional banner, the time frame is not that high, probably by then another banner will appear that you will also want to pull on and you will feed the vicious circle of poor control.
In essence, it's not a bad idea to go for the gacha if you really want to get something right away, but you're still going to be relying on luck, a factor you can't control, so accumulate as many Egoshard Crates as possible and save the Lunacy for the basics in the next section.
*Remember that with the end of the Season half of your shards will be automatically converted to Thread (a resource for leveling characters).
Walpurgis Night
The special event that appears every three months, which will allow you to acquire powerful identities and E.G.O resources that are worth spending Lunacy on since the amount of time you have to wait is much higher than with regular banners, and the Dispenser will not help you as much as with standard identities since they are more limited and exclusive.
This means that if you fail to draw directly from the gacha at the time of the banner's release, you will have to wait those three months for the respective identities and resources to be available for extraction using the Dispenser, which would be a full cycle, and you will not be able to extract them out of season but only when the event starts.
Technically the recommendation would be to wait the full three months if you are not in a hurry, but as an experienced gambler I can easily tell you that in practice it is not that easy, so this is precisely where Lunacy comes in.
While these special identities are quite strong, there are also identities associated with bosses that you will encounter in some levels of the story mode that do not depend on this event, but for those you will only have to wait a week at most. So, don't take it too literally, because not everything that usually comes out at each Walpurgis is excessively good.
Examples of entities that have appeared on Walpurgis Night would be Lobotomy E.G.O::Regret Faust and Lobotomy E.G.O::Red Eyes & Penitence which are associated with the abnormalities you encountered during the management process at Lobotomy Corporation, extremely powerful broken identities if used correctly.
So the only thing that makes spending Lunacy viable is the existence of this specific event and I always recommend prioritizing identities over isolated E.G.O.s.
Focus on entities that are capable of dealing damage to multiple enemies with each of their abilities or what would be called area damage.
Decaextraction Tickets
If you've already decided that you're going to make pulls, it would be advisable to first make sure you've exhausted all other resources, since you not only have the backup of Egoshard Crates in your arsenal, but you may also have Extraction Tickets lying around that replace Lunacy, which emulate its capacity.
There are 4 types of Extraction Tickets, the most valuable being the guaranteed x10 Season Ticket, followed by the guaranteed x10 random identity Ticket, then the one that allows you to make 10 pulls but without guarantee, and finally the one that allows you to make a single pull.
Fortunately, the system itself will always prioritize the use of these Tickets when we talk about non-guaranteed and individual tickets, while for guaranteed tickets there will be specialized banners to be used, although in the extraction no E.G.O. will be included, only identities.
The good thing is that even though you can't extract E.G.O with these tickets, everything is perfectly balanced, since you can't get repeated E.G.O's in any banner, which does happen with identities, even if you get repeated ones, these copies will become Egoshards.
Although guaranteed tickets are a great tool, it is highly recommended to save them, especially the seasonal ones, to use them until the end in case you have not been able to get the identities using only the crates, try to spend only the non-guaranteed ones.
*As an extra tip, if you use the Guarantee Decaextraction Tickets during the Walpurgis Night in the special Assured Extraction banner you have high chances with that than spending Lunacy itself because they will be included in the pool, so, try to save them for that.

Banners
The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a minimum number of pulls here to get something guaranteed after spending a certain amount of Lunacy and the odds are kinda weird, one time I spent like 50,000 Lunacy to try to extract an E.G.O and it didn't come out, while identities usually come out faster, so then I extracted that E.G.O with the Dispenser.
I thought back then that it would be like the traditional rules of most gachas and then I said to myself "hahaha how ironic that a gacha isn't whale friendly, it's really beautiful, verily" I never imagined something like that could happen, it's much more masochistic to roll on a banner here than in others, and it feels like a kind of vendetta because you can experience the feeling of collecting everything as a F2P player with hardly any effort.
So I again stress that when spending Lunacy you should focus on identities first and leave E.G.O.'s until last, at least when we're talking about Walpurgis Night because trying to do it with the Standard Banner are an absolute madness.
What To Focus On When Starting Out?
If you didn't start at launch it won't take you tons of time to recover from such damage like other gacha, so for your first few identities I'd highly recommend focusing on all the charge ones, at least when we're talking about the three zero (000) ones since they're pretty solid for the first set of chapters in the story mode.
Of course there are a ton more identities and playstyles, another of my favorites being the Tremor-based ones, which reduces the enemies' Stagger meter the more stacks of that status they have, but in general all the Charge-based identities are a pretty good starting point.
Base IDs
If you want things to be a little more extreme, you could try to see how far you can go without extracting anything but only in case you want to test yourself, since it is quite possible to advance quite a bit with just the base identities, those with a zero (0).
It is very fun but it is a very stressful and exhausting game style because you will still have to spend a lot of shards and resources to level them, do it only if at some point you want to understand in more depth why this is a great gacha, in case you live in a cave you can resort to this, it is a widespread practice among veterans and even you can complete Hard Mirror Dungeons with some tries.
In this way you would give priority to the extraction of E.G.O with the Dispenser and you would completely skip all the promotional stuff, in fact for a while now I have been liking to do that in other gachas to evaluate how far you can go, since there are some in which you can half but in others in which it is simply not possible unless you spend too much time.
