An overview of module efficiency

Preface

Modules are in plentiful supply in Limbus Company, but have you ever just wanted to play the game for 15 hours? Now you can! Efficiently!

This guide will assume that you can consistently and efficiently clear all content in the game. If you cannot, you will be forced to take options with lower efficiency, and I'm not really interested in calculating those. I'm also not going to factor in weeklies, the only two that would be worth calculating are the 5 exp/thread lux weeklies and first off, you will be getting those regardless, and second off, you only need 5 runs to finish the weekly and I'm not interested in doing division with two prime numbers (5 and 7). You can, if you want.

This guide will also focus heavily on egoshards. This is because everything you can spend modules on other than story will give you egoshards in one way or another. I will assume that we are working with absurd quantities of egoshard crates and therefore 1 crate = 2 thread, and while technically impossible, fractions of shards will be calculated.

The Things You Can Spend Modules On

This guide is up to date as of the December 21st update (Mirror Dungeon 3 Hard Mode). The things you can currently spend modules on are Exp Luxcavations, Thread Luxcavations, and Mirror Dungeons. I am going to assume that you are spending a minimum of 53 modules per week, at least one of each Luxcavation per day and 1 Mirror Dungeon Hard Mode per week.

You gain 1 module every 2 hours, and there are 168 hours in a week, meaning you get 84 modules per week as long as you log on multiple times per day to convert modules. That's an extra 31 modules that you presumably don't know what you want to do with!

Additionally, if you're a lunacy purchasing freak who understands that extractions are a scam, you might be spending 26 lunacy per day on an enkephalin refill! This gives a variable amount of enkephalin depending on your manager level, but I will assume a base of level 40 if you're hitting the refill button each day. That's another 43 modules per week, for a total of 74. This is too many modules, we must spend them.

I am also assuming you're not using the skip button for luxcavations. It's tempting, but this is an efficiency guide.

This Is The Part Where I Actually Give You Numbers

I lied in the last section. There's more than 3 things to spend modules on. There's SEVEN things to spend modules on! The extras are the difference between thread lux with or without bonus and mirror dungeon normal vs mirror dungeon hard. And additionally, you do get extra resources for the first exp and thread lux each day, and while I'm already assuming you're doing those, I'll list them for completeness. BP exp will be presented in terms of egoshards. The number without the Limbus Pass will be listed in parentheses. And keep in mind, egoshards can be converted to thread, so I will be presenting thread as combined thread, the amount of raw thread gained from a thread lux and the amount of egoshards that can be converted to thread.

Content Egoshards per module Thread per module Exp per module Notes Exp Luxcavation (first per day) 0.4 (0.133) 0.4 (0.133) 3,600 This is the only reliable source of exp, but it's not good for anything else. Exp Luxcavation 0 0 3,600 Exp Luxcavations don't have diminishing returns like Thread Luxcavations do, so you can get up to 111,600 exp per week with those 31 extra modules. That's enough to bring... 1.2 IDs from level 1 to level 40. Predict your shortcomings ahead of time I guess. Thread Luxcavation (first per day) 0.6 (0.2) 4.6 (4.2) 0 During season 2, only the first Thread Luxcavation actually gave you more thread than any other method. This has changed with the introduction of level 3 Thread Luxcavations, but that fact is why this guide exists at all. Thread Luxcavation (with bonus) 0 4 0 With the introduction of level 3 Thread Luxcavations, it's actually worth using up all 3 of your bonuses per day. Because of how much thread you need for UT4, along with UT5 on the horizon, I'd recommend doing all of your bonuses every day. Tip: Dieci Rodion can solo Brazen Bull and Blubbering Toad without much thought because they crater her SP without her taking much damage. Rime Shank go brr. Thread Luxcavation (without bonus) 0 2 0 Do not do this. I don't care how desperate you are for thread, do a Mirror Dungeon instead. Mirror Dungeon Hard (with bonus) 7.5 (2.5) 7.5 (2.5) 0 I assume you are always using your bonus for your hard run. You should also do this even if you don't have the Limbus Pass due to the 750 lunacy you get. Mirror Dungeon Normal (without bonus) 3.6 (1.2) 3.6 (1.2) 0 Before the addition of Thread Luxcavation level 3, this was actually better thread gain than doing the second and third Thread Luxcavations and was equivalent to the first Luxcavation. The rate is lower than Thread Luxcavations now, but because you get that thread entirely in the form of egoshards, it's still worth doing. You also get about 150-175 Starlight, but that's only useful for making future Mirror Dungeon runs easier. If you spend all of your 31 bonus modules on Mirror Dungeons, that's an extra 111.6 egoshards per week if you have the Limbus Pass. I don't think it's worth it without the pass.

Conclusion

My personal suggestion on what to do with your 31 bonus module is to put 4 of them toward finishing out your Thread Luxcavation bonuses and then put 10 or 15 toward Mirror Dungeons. This lets you stockpile 12 to 17 modules per week for when you suddenly find yourself two months later suddenly needing egoshards or exp that you didn't expect. Of course, you can also skip the Mirror Dungeons and just spend the 4 on Thread Luxcavations, but even if Mirror Dungeons can be mostly completed with the win rate button, it's still more bearable to spread some of them out over the course of a few weeks.
