Buried Treasure Hints and Locations, plus The Meteor and The Relic

Introduction

This is a list of the locations for every buried treasure in Legend of Grimrock as well as where to find and how to solve the hints that lead you to them. In addition, it also has the hints and locations for the Meteor and the Relic.

The information in this guide is divided so that people who want to solve the hints for themselves can still do so without being spoiled.

The order that the treasures are listed in this guide are based solely on where the treasures are buried, not on the order in which you are most likely to find them.

Update 22/10/2014: Added all missing hint locations.

Buried Treasure #1At the lone oak, in the shadow of the blue light, I buried it.

-Captain Kilhagan

The "blue light" refers to the Crystal of Life.

Near the Crystal of Life is a large tree.

Dig beneath the tree on the side that has the initial "K" carved into it.

Buried Treasure #2AR E. UHU KO.

AR E. UHU E.

The key to understanding this sign is found in the Lexiconary.

"Ar" means "move left". "Uhu" means "move forward". "E" means "once". "Ko" means "three times".

From the sign, move one step left, three steps forward, one step left, one step forward. Dig here.

Buried Treasure #3I had more equipment than I could carry, so I buried some of it right between the two lanterns in eastern Twigroot Forest.

There are two lanterns in the northeast corner of Twigroot Forest, near the entrance to the Forgotten River.

Face the spot directly between the two lanterns and dig beneath the tree.

Buried Treasure #4

This map shows an area of the Forgotten River.

This area is just outside the entrance to Castle Nex.

Dig at the location indicated by the map.

Buried Treasure #5Underneath

This sign is located inside a pit near the north end of Keelbreach Bog.

Dig in front of the sign.

Buried Treasure #6A treasure chest long lost, guarded by the four fallen spirits in the bog.

Search Keelbreach Bog for a location marked by four fallen spirits.

On the northwest island, through the Windgate, there are four broken Stone Philosophers.

Face the spot in the center of the four Stone Philosphers and dig.

Buried Treasure #7

This map shows a building on an island.

The building is the Shrine of Water, on Sleet Island.

You'll find this spot to the west of the Shrine, near the entrance to the Ruins of Desarune. Dig at the indicated location.

Buried Treasure #8Three steps x and x south from x x

x x west x four x x Cemetery entrance

Put the two scrolls together and they read "Three steps west and four south from Cemetery entrance".

Stand in front of the large Cemetery gates and walk three steps west, then four steps south.

Destroy the bramble and dig where it was.

Buried Treasure #9The three Cemetery Riddles.

Find and read the graves of Jakon, Miriel, and Ronar Riddle.

Jakon Riddle

Banished from Etolla, the famous puzzlewright travelled to the Tavern of Wyrmflight to start a new life. Efforts were in vain for in the inn he was slain, by the river of Eel near the town of Needle.

Miriel Riddle

Ended her life in the Red Hills in the town of Ediamon. Puzzles and mysteries meant everything to her.

Ronar Riddle

Hallowed woods of Arn Awen claimed another victim. Remaining puzzles designed by him were lost in the burned library of Ormund.

Pay close attention to the capital letters on each tombstone.

The capital letters spell "BETWEEN", "ERHEP", and "HAARO".

Find the graves of Erhep the Master Carpenter and Haaro the Scribe in the south end of the Cemetery. Dig between them.

Buried Treasure #10There is a fountain with an ancient oak by its side.

From the oak, take four steps to the east.

And then two steps to the south shall you stride.

The treasure now lies beneath your feet.

The only fountain that has a tree beside it is in the Hamlet of Stormbreach.

Stand on the spot to the north of tree and walk four steps east, two steps south. Dig here.

Buried Treasure #11Where there is nowhere to hide from sunlight, the loneliest of all trees resides.

The missing limb will point you to the right direction.

Just walk as far as the eye can see.

The place with nowhere to hide from sunlight is the Barren Desert.

In the northeast corner of the Desert there is a single tree with a hollow facing to the west.

Walk due west from the tree until you hit the west edge of the desert. Dig there.

Extra #1: The MeteorI am the right eye.

I saw where the meteor fell.

I am the left eye.

I saw where the meteor fell.

Both Stone philosophers saw where the meteor fell. Find the point where their gazes intersect.

The right eye is facing north from Keelbreach Bog. The left eye is facing east from the Hamlet of Stormbreach. Their gazes meet in the northeast corner of Sleet Island.

Just west of the Sleet Island Crystal of Life, there is a large rock. Stand at the north side of the rock, face west, and dig.

Now that you have the meteor, take it to Crystal Mines Abyss and place it on the Forge of the Fallen Stars to obtain the Meteor Hammer.

Extra #2: The RelicYou have been mislead. Not everything is composed of four sides.
