Double Effects On Spells

Example: Comet+MP Turbo and another Comet+MP Absorb

You will cast a stronger Comet spell, and receive MP from the spell.

You can pair the same materia with different support materias to get two different effects on the spell. The materias must be paired in the slots connected together for this to work.

Support materias include: HP Absorb, MP Absorb, ALL, MP Turbo, Counter(Blue Version), Magic counter, Quadra Magic (ect.)

Final Attack

Using final attack with anything other than a variant of revive magic is probably a poor choice. Final attack is used when a character is defeated. A common choice is Final Attack and Revive. In it's mastered form, Final Attack can be used 5 times per battle. It is very useful for fighting the superbosses, but it will run out eventually. Another good combo of Final Attack is the Phoenix Summon. Phoenix revives all party members who are defeated back up to max HP. I don't reccomend using this on a character with low MP because Phoenix takes lots of MP, but it can be used well on a character that maintains high MP. Same as Revive, Phoenix can only be used 5x per fight. The only other combination I would consider adequate would be Final Attack + Knights of the Round.

Quadra Magic

Quadra magic is a support materia found in a cave near Mideel. The cave was intended to be acsessed only be chocobo, but if you don't have one, a glitch using the Highwind airship can be done.

Quadra magic can be linked to any magic or summon matera, except for Knights of the Round.

When mastered, the 4x magic can be used up to five times per fight (20 castings), which could potentially deal 199980 damage. Enough to defeat the final boss in those 5 turns.

Support Counter

The blue counter materia can be paired with Steal, Sense, Throw, Morph, Deathblow, Manipulate, Mime, or Master Command.

My favorite thing to use it with is the Mime materia, only acsessable with a green chocobo. Pairing it with mime will do an action that another character has already done(Summon, magic, command, ect.) You can mime limit breaks, but only characters' own limit breaks. Miming Magic won't use MP the first time, but after the first, it will consume MP. You can also mime Knights of the Round to deal a ton of damage. You can make multiple pairs of Counter Mime, and they will all work.

Counter's chance of occuring goes up as you master it. When mastered, it will happen every time.

Added Effect

Links to: Poison, Seal, Mystify, Transform, Time, Destruct, Contain, Choco/Mog, Odin, Hades

Equipping on a weapon can deal the type of damage within the materia. Odin may cause death and Hades will cause a ton of status effects on the recipient of the attack.

Equipping on armor will protect from the type of damage in the materia. Odin will protect from death and Hades will protect from the status effects included.

Time will stop enemies on a weapon, Poison will poison them, ect.

A powerful trick is to pair contain materia with added effect. You can cause confusion, berserk and paralysis with this combo.

Independent Materia

Purple materias.

8 copies of counter will do 8 counterattacks after being hit if they are all mastered. 8 is the limit though.

HP, Luck, MP Plus, ect. can be used, but there is no paired effect.

Knights Of The Round

Can be paired with Steal as well to have 13 steal opportunities, Added cut, Final Attack, HP and MP Absorb, Magic Counter, MP Turbo and Sneak Attack.

Using Quadra magic and the master summon, plus Magic counter and another master summon, there can be a very small chance of casting 4 knights of the round spells. There would be 52 different knights dealing massive damage. I don't reccomend doing this if you are only going after KOTR, since there is less than a 1% chance of succeeding.

Where To Find The Materias

Mime is located in a cave southeast of Wutai. You can reach it with any Chocobo that is not regular or Blue.

Quadra Magic is located in a cave east of Mideel. You can use a special Chocobo, or a glitch with the Highwind.

Added Cut is in the great glacier, which you go through during the main story but can be returned to at any time afterwards through the Icicle Inn and the snowboard minigame.

Added Effect is located in the Cave of the Gi.

All is in many places but Red XIII comes with one equipped.

Counter is in the Northern Crater, but do not continue past the point where everyone meets up in an area with green light showing from below, because that is the point where you can't come back from.

Elemental can be found be guessing the password first try in the Shinra building, Mount Nibel, or possibly finding it at the piano at Tifa's home.

Final Attack can be recieved from the battle square after winning the prizes OMNISLASH and W-SUMMON, which is also a materia to collect.

HP absorb Wutai Village and the Northern Crater

Magic Counter Northern Crater or possibly the Chocobo race if you pick item rather than GP.

MP Absorb Wutai Village item shop

MP Turbo Whirlind maze during the story

Sneak Attack Chocobo Race prize if you pick item rather than GP.

Steal as well Using the Leviathan scales, return to the Wutai Village, and head for the statue. Go left and go into the cave. You can find the materia at the end after extinguishing multiple fires to get there.

Knights of the Round Is located on an island slightly Southwest of the Northeast corner of the map. It can only be reached by a Gold Chocobo.
