Settings Recommendations
If you decide to get it installed, here are my settings and why.
Check "60fps Game" and set the 3D engine to "Vulkan" (this got all the animation frame rates stable for me).
Using Vulkan was the important trick which gave me the idea to post this guide in the first place. Using any of the other 3D engine options resulted in unstable frame rates during cast animations in battles!
This is the wing/wind attack from a Zemzelett, one of the first battle animations you will encounter that would normally crash your fps. With Vulkan, it keeps smooth at 60fps.
note: I am using a RTX 3070 / Ryzen 5600X system
Moving on, I would recommend using all of the "HD" textures, the "60 fps FMV", and "Real 16/9". This gives you an easy, one step mod install, to get the whole game running in HD and at 60fps, nice right!
"Dynamic Lighting" and the "Transparent" text box options are also cool, but they have some display bugs here or there. The bugs are limited to misplaced shadows on screen, which are rare but noticeable. For the text boxes, there ends up being some small spacing issues with the HD textures, where small vertical lines or spaces will show up on the transparent background, as to not appear visually perfect anymore. For me, the pros of these settings outweigh the small visual glitches, and I keep them on, but check it out for yourself!
Finally "Hide Models Mouths" and "PSX Musics" get you the more original feel. Get these mouths out of here, they freak me out!
I have some other settings in the screen shot which are optional, but you do not need to mess with anything else other than turning on "Steam achievements"
