The amount of Souls earned varies based on the difficulty of the enemy or task. You can also find Souls scattered throughout the game world.

Step 2: Find a BonfireBonfires serve as checkpoints in Elden Ring and are also where you can level up your character. You can find Bonfires throughout the game world, usually in safe areas like towns or hidden in dungeons. Bonfires also replenish your health and Estus Flask charges.

Step 3: Speak with MelinaAt the Bonfire, you will find a Melina who will level up your character. Speak with her and choose the option to level up. You will need to have enough Souls to reach the next level.

Step 1: Gather Upgrade MaterialsTo level up your weapons in Elden Ring, you'll need to gather upgrade materials. The type of materials needed depends on the weapon and the level you want to upgrade it to. Some common upgrade materials include Titanite Shards, Large Titanite Shards, Titanite Chunks, and Titanite Slabs. You can find upgrade materials by defeating enemies, looting chests, and exploring the game world.

Step 2: Find a BlacksmithOnce you have the necessary upgrade materials, you'll need to find a Blacksmith to perform the upgrade. Blacksmiths are located throughout the game world, often in towns or hidden areas. The Blacksmith will charge you Souls and require the necessary upgrade materials to perform the upgrade.

Step 3: Choose Your WeaponAt the Blacksmith, select the weapon you want to upgrade. You can only upgrade weapons that you have equipped or are carrying in your inventory. Each weapon has its own upgrade path, and you'll need to follow that path to level up the weapon. For example, some weapons may require Titanite Shards to reach level +3, while others may require Large Titanite Shards.

Step 4: Pay Souls and Upgrade MaterialsOnce you've chosen your weapon and the level you want to upgrade it to, you'll need to pay the Souls and upgrade materials required for the upgrade. The Blacksmith will perform the upgrade, and your weapon will now be at the new level.

How To Level Up To Not Waste Anything?

To do this you will have to check what symbols your weapon of choice has right now. My elenora blade for excample has these scalings for my character levels buildup: strenght: E (This weapon does't contain mutch strenght levels), Arcane: D (For my levels this weapon will be ok but can be better with upgrading it and upgrading my arcane), Dexterity: C (It's a very good power for my character build).

This means that Eleonra blade is a very good weapon with a balance bettwen my stats.

Now let's look for another weapon

This ♥♥♥♥ has other stats (like every weapon will have), is it good for my build then? Not very, because only advantage i get is from my strenth. I would have to level this weapon, put some points into faith and dexterity to get it working.

Remember to always play with what you like the most!

How To Level Up? (Spirit-Ashes)

Step 1: Obtain Spirit AshesSpirit Ashes are a special type of NPC in Elden Ring that can be used to help you fighting with enemies. You can get them from: chests, dungeons, you will just get them from exploring the world

Step 2: Find a Spirit ShrineTo level up your Spirit with Spirit Ashes, you'll need to find a Spirit Shrine. These are special locations scattered throughout the game world where you can offer Spirit Ashes to level up your Spirit. They are often hidden in hard-to-reach areas or guarded by powerful enemies, so keep your eyes peeled.

Step 3: Finish Roderika's questRoderika is the only NPC in the game who can upgrade your Spirit Ashes. You’ll first find Roderika at Stormhill Shack in Limgrave, to the right of the road past Gatefront. Interact with Roderika here and exhaust her dialogue. Leave her be for now and make your way to Stormveil Castle. Press on until you arrive at the hall where the Grafted Scion is. On the southwest corner of this hall, you’ll find a door. Head through it and turn left. There’s a pile of dead bodies ahead that’s guarded by two dogs. There’s an item atop this pile. Loot it to get the Chrysalid’s Memento. Once obtained, return to Roderika and give this item to her. After exhausting her dialogue here once more, she’ll tell you that she’ll head for the Roundtable Hold. That’s where you’ll find her next.

Step 4: Turning Roderika Into a Spirit-TunerOnce Roderika arrives at the Roundtable Hold, there are still a few things you’ll need to do to make sure she becomes a Spirit-Tuner. Speak to Roderika and exhaust her dialogue. Then, head to Master Hewg and speak to him about Roderika. Hewg will tell you that Roderika has a gift for spirit tuning.

With this information, return to Roderika and tell her what Hewg told you. Return to Hewg again and tell him to watch over Roderika, and tell him it’s what she wants.

Commit to a build and weapon early, and make changes laterOnce you’ve chosen from one of the Elden Ring classes, you’ll need to commit to strengthening your build as soon as possible, especially if you want one of our Elden Ring best builds. When spending your Runes to level up your Attributes, dump them into your class’s best ones, as well as a bit of Vigor and Endurance, to really help you play to the strengths of your build. If you really want to respecialize and mess around with your Attributes, you’ll be able to find a particular item that can be exchanged to reallocate spent Attribute points, but it’s quite far into the game.

Explore Limgrave thoroughly at the start to max out loot and power-upsElden Ring has an incredibly vast open world full of nooks and crannies for you to explore and, more than likely, clear of horrifying monstrosities. Take advantage of the fact that you can take a stroll away from the critical path and use it to explore early on and level up. In doing so, you’ll not only learn the ropes of the game before coming up against some seriously tough story bosses, but you’re probably going to find some good loot too.

Use map markers to track discoveries and important thingsElden Ring's map builds out as you explore and find Elden Ring map fragments, but an important piece of info is the fact that you can put down up to a hundred custom markers on locations, beyond just the standard waypoints. These are really helpful, as there's a lot the map doesn't show once found, like merchants or optional bosses. Use these to keep track of everything, and you'll thank yourself later.

Equipment is just as important, if not more important, than your levelLevelling up will allow you to improve your basic stats and resistances, but it's equipment that weaponises those numbers and turns them into real power. Consequently it's not enough to just keep pouring Runes into Strength levels if you're a warrior or knight; you'll want a good melee weapon with decent Strength Scaling. Knowing How to strengthen weapons in Elden Ring and improve them at an anvil or with a blacksmith using Elden Ring Smithing Stones is important. Even the way your weapon moves as part of its attack patterns is important - long reach, quick motions and wide swings can be a lot deadlier than slow, tiny stabs, even if the latter theoretically does more damage on each hit.

Shields are good, but rolling is better - especially if you're lightA shield with 100% damage reduction is a really good choice for a new player, able to stop any sword or arrow with only a drain on your stamina to show for it. Even if you don't start with one, you should probably buy one from Kalé, the merchant in the Church of Elleh by the Tree Sentinel.

But don't get dependent on it. As helpful as shields are, rolling out of the way of an attack is always better, especially later on when bosses are using devastating spells and divine strikes that'll break through your block.

Look for Golden Trees and Churches to upgrade your health FlasksThe item you'll use most in Elden Ring is your Flasks of Crimson Tears, and possibly your Flasks of Cerulean Tears if you're a spellcaster. These restore health and FP respectively, but their limited use and the fact they normally only get restored at Sites of Grace means you have to be careful about how often they're used.

Enemies with golden eyes drop extra RunesIt's a small thing, but every now and then you'll see an enemy who randomly has glowing gold eyes. They won't be any tougher or deadlier than the others, but they are worth slaying - they're a randomly occurring special enemy who'll drop much more Runes than the others. The actual number seems to vary somewhat according to enemy, level and location, but they're never not worth killing.

Even More Tips For Getting Started

Elden Ring features an incredibly large world to explore, you're not going to want to jog everywhere. Luckily, you can sprint (either on foot or on horseback) as much as you want when traveling -- and it won't use up any stamina! However, once you enter combat or get close to an enemy, sprinting will start consuming stamina, so be wary where you run!

As an open world game, the Lands Between are yours to explore at your leisure, in the order you choose. If you find a place or boss that looks difficult, you can always find a way to explore in another direction if you look hard enough, and return to previous challenges when you level up in Elden Ring or get better weapons to help you.

In addition to the large sprawling "Legacy Dungeons" where the Demigods of Elden Ring reside, you'll find all sorts of smaller Dungeons in the Lands Between. All of them are optional and can be explored or bypassed as you wish. Dungeons can be as small as a few cave rooms, or as spacious as a fortress with multiple tiers and buildings. Each will be home to a Miniboss that will often drop a rare or unique item that may make it worth your while, as well as items that can be found along the way.

If you're having trouble finding smaller dungeons to explore, be on the lookout for decrepit looking statues holding a small blue flame. Interacting with them will summon a faint blue trail leading in the direction of a nearby optional dungeon. You can also find tall ghostly candelabras that summon an ethereal spirit - following his trail can lead you to secrets like dungeons as well.

While there is a day and night cycle in Elden Ring, you'll find that most of the game won't be affected by whether the sun or the moon is out. However, you may find enemy visibility reduced at night, and some areas may host different enemies when the sun goes down - like certain Roaming Bosses.

It can be tempting to race along the open world and bypass enemies you find on your way towards the next big dungeon, but remember that fights you bypass will mean less runes to level up, and less items gained to use when things really get challenging. Stop to smell the flowers - so to speak - and kill everyone you meet to keep gaining runes as you explore.

Sites of Grace are plentiful in the Lands Between, and often times you'll find them on the outskirts of large points of interest or along the main roads. If you don't see any, be on the lookout for the small Stake of Marika statues that you can choose to respawn at if you die nearby - these are often located next to challenging fights, allowing you to quickly respawn nearby and get back into the fray.

Crafting is a key mechanic of Elden Ring that can easily be overlooked. Things like fire pots won't be found anywhere else - you'll need to craft them yourself in cracked pots that regenerate when thrown, allowing you to make different variants as needed. Since materials are so abundant, don't neglect stockpiling weapon grease, throwing knives, throwable pots, and other consumables that can help in difficult encounters! There's no weight attached to crafting materials, and your storage will hold tons, so there's little reason not to spam the pick up button as you race across flowers and items as you travel. You'll never know when you might need to craft a certain item, so its better to have a surplus of items than to waste time looking for the one material you need.

Perhaps even more important than just leveling up, the key to progression is often tied to increasing the power of your armaments. You'll find smithing stones all over the Lands Between - from bodies that litter the landscape, from certain enemies, and especially in mines. Don't neglect using them to reinforce your weapons and bring up their level, as having an appropriately scaled weapon can be crucial to getting through tough encounters. You can find a Smithing Table at the Church of Elleh at the start of your adventure, and eventually find a smith at the Roundtable Hold to take your weapons even further.

Sometimes, you may notice the glowing leaves of the Erdtree fluttering down and filling the screen with their golden light. This will actually cause an invigorating effect to buff your character as well, and will increase the amount of Runes you collect by a small percentage while the leaves are falling.

The End
