It Feels Off.
Fall damage has got to be bugged in Elden Ring. It feels so inconsistent with little to no actual damage being dealt - it either deals ~400 HP of damage or instantly kills you. No in-between.
Seriously though, if you actually want to know if a fall will ♥♥♥♥ you up, craft some Rainbow Stones and toss them off the cliff/ledge you want to drop off of.
It's a bit tedious, but it's definitely faster than having to sit through the death animation, loading screen, and the run to get your runes. Hope this helped, Tarnished! Praise the Elden Ring!
