Quest

A list of quest steps for all NPCs in the game with a quest.

I grouped them based on their interaction with each other, considering many quests of the game require others to proceed.

These are not necessarily all possible endings for the quests, but instead the ones I think are the best outcomes either loot or story-wise, ones I aim to achieve each time I play the game before making role-play decisions.

—— Base Game ——

• Sellen & Witch-Hunter Jerren

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 38

Talk to her in Waypoint Ruins (Limgrave)

Find Comet Azur near Volcano Manor, and speak to her.

Find Lusat inside Sellia Hideway (Caelid)

Defeat Radahn, then talk to her, she'll ask you to meet the real her in Witchbane Ruins (Weeping Peninsula). She'll give Sellen's Primal Glintstone.

Exhaust Witch-Hunter Jerren (beard guy Radahn) dialogue after defeating Radahn.

Return to Withbane Ruins where Jerren will have killed Sellen.

Use Sellen's Primal Glintstone in the copy of Sellen inside the Seluvis' hidden puppet area.

Reload at Rennala's Grace and here, outside the arena, either use the Golden Sign to help Sellen, or the Red Sign to attack Sellen with Jerren.

Helping Sellen reward Jerren's armor, Lusat and Azur give their armor if revisited, the knife Glintstone Kris, and she'll sell Shard Spiral as a sorcery. Also, next to her when transformed, her helm.

Helping Jerren rewards Sellen's helm, her ball bearing and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone when talking to him outside. Now Jerren could be killed before he despawns to get his armor. Helping Sellen seems to be the best reward-wise unless that extra Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone is necessary.

• Smithing Master Hewg And Roderika

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 50

Find Roderika in Stormhill Shack (Limgrave, on the way to Stormveil).

Find Chrysalids' Memento in Stormveil on a pile of corpses and bring it to her.

After reaching Liurnia, she moves to Roundtable.

Do back and forth with her and Hewg until he suggests she can be a Spirit Tuner.

After upgrading a spirit to +4, a new dialogue will reward us with the Curtsy gesture.

Her hood can be found in Stormveil where the Chrysalids' Memento was after this.

• Thops

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 58

Find in the Church of Irith (near the entrance of Liurnia), and he'll ask for a key.

Find extra Glintstone Key in Raya Lucaria Academy, on the chandelier.

Bring it to him, and he'll reward the player with the "Erudition" gesture, useful for a few Mage Tower's puzzles.

He'll be dead near the Schoolhouse Classroom Site of Grace.

A Teardrop Scarab will spawn next to where he was in the Church that rewards an Ash of War.

• Rogier, Fia, D & Gurranq

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 74

Hug Fia multiple times in Roundtable HoldFind D near Summonwater Village (Limgrave) and after defeating the boss near, talk to him so he'll show you how to reach GurranqGive Deathroots to Gurranq, D becomes a merchant. Find Rogier in Stormveil the first time, after defeating Godrick, and find his spirit on how he became paralyzed in the lower part of Stormveil.

Find Rogier, D, and Fia in Roundtable. Talk to all of them multiple times, especially Fia. Rogier grows close to her, so exhausts her dialogue until she mentions the Black Knifeprint that Rogier wants.

Bring the Black Knifeprint to Rogier, he'll suggest to become Ranni's follower, after this, Rogier dies.

After resting at a grade in Altus Plateau or defeating Radahn, Fia will give you a broken knife that needs to be given to D. Reload the area, and near the blacksmith in Roundtable the door will now be open and Fia will have killed D and leave.

Find D's twin brother in Nokron, just before the Valian Gargoyle bosses. Give him the armor.

Reach Fia in Deeproot Depths and fight the boss Fia's Champions, after talking to her when having the Cursemark of Death, an item obtainable from Ranni's real body, at the end of her quest when she leaves. She will become the entrance the the boss Lichdragon Fortissax.

Defeat the boss, talk to her, get the Mending rune of the Death-Prince, the reload again in this area to find D over Fia's body he just murdered. Reload again to find D's full set and the Inseparable Sword in the same location.

• Ranni, Iji, Blaidd Pidia & Seluvis

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 83

After aquiring Torrent, go back to the Church of Elleh, during knight, and you'll find Kalé asleep and "Renna" giving you the Spirit Call Bell.

Inside Mistwood (left side of Limgrave) sometimes a howl can be heard, after hearing it, go to Kalé, merchant after the first Tree Sentinel, and he'll teach you an emote called "Finger Snap". Use that in Mistwood Ruins near the tallest tower and Blaidd will come down telling you to look for Darriwil. Darriwil is the Evergaol Forlorn Hound near the access to Weeping Peninsula. Here you can summon Blaidd, and after defeating the boss he'll reward a Somber Smithing Stone 2.

Next, make your way to Ranni at the Three Sisters near the Carian Castle in Liurnia, especially after Rogier suggests we find her. Here join her pact, and speak to all NPCs. The first mission will be to find the hidden treasure of Nokron with Blaidd, but we don't know how to reach Norkon.

Near Siofra Reaver, close to the bridge that can be reached with a gust of wind and Torrent, he'll tell us Seluvis must know something.

Seluvis will give us a potion for Nepheli, and once questioned on the Nokron matter directs us to Sellen with an item to introduce us and Sellen will tell us Radahn, Ranni's sister, is holding the stars and her fate. Return to Blaidd to update him.

Find Seluvis puppet room near Ranni's Rise, and interact with the message of Seluvis, then go speak to him again and buy a spirit from him.

Now either find, or better, drop 3 Starlight Shards, then reload the game, and tell Seluvis you want more puppets. After buying a second spirit ash from him, reload and he'll tell you of his plot to puppet Ranni. He needs an Amber Starlight, found on the Altus Plateau or with the help of a map sold by Pidia, a merchant in Carian Castle, and puppet master of Seluvis.

After delivering the Amber Shard, we'll receive the potion to puppet Ranni - which won't work - and the Magic Storpion as a reward. From this point, proceeding with this brings no further results.

Defeat Radahn, free the stars, and approach the whole in Mistwood created by the meteor in the after-fight of Radahn.

Here proceed down to Nokron and obtain the hidden treasure, the Fingerslayer Blade. By giving Ranni this item, the quest of the others will permanently advance. For example, would you want to puppet the Dung Eater, keeping the Fingerslayer Blade is a must, otherwise feel free to give her the potion.

Blaidd is nowhere to be found because he was trapped inside the same Evergaol Darriwil was, go there and free him, then speak to Iji about why he would trap him. Blaidd was sent by the two fingers, therefore he thought might be a hindrance to Ranni's plot.

Now it's the moment to deliver the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni. Seluvis will die but his corpse will still sell the spirit ashes, and when approaching Pidia he will also die killed by his puppets of which Seluvis was one.

After Ranni leaves, speak to Iji as he will have more items for sale and Renna's Rise, the third tower of the Three Sisters will be open. Here there's a teleport that leads to Ainsel River Main, where early we can find a miniature doll of Ranni. Insist on trying to talk to it until Ranni speaks to us, and asks us to help her against the shadows further in the rea. In Nokstella Water Basin, a shadow of Blaidd, but not the real Blaidd, attacks us. Defeat it and Ranni will thank us rewarding us the Discarded Palace Key. This key is to be used in the chest right next to Rennala for the Dark Moon Ring.

With the Ring in inventory, interact with the coffin in Grand Cloister (Scarlet Rot Area after Ranni left us) and defeat Astel. The seal behind it will be open. From here, reach the Cathedral, fall in the hole in it, and speak to Ranni. This will unlock the Age of Stars ending.

Blaidd can be found in front of Ranni's tower, where he has lost his mind and we have to fight him.

Iji will die shortly after Blaidd is defeated, after exhausting his dialogue, killed by some Black Knife Assassins near his "shop" area.

Pidia will be at the same location, dead after his puppets killed him.

• Hyetta

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 102

Her quest is fully developed in Liurnia. Find her near the first grace of Liurnia and feed her the first Shabiri Grape that was right behind Godrick. She rewards a gesture.

Find and feed her the second Shabiri Grape near the Purified Ruins, the eye can be found inside the Purified Ruins.

Find and feed her the third grape, which is dropped by Edgar the Revenger, the father of Irina. She will be near Gate Town Bridge.

Lastly, find and feed her the fourth grape that can be dropped by defeating Festering Fingerprint Vyke near the Church of Inhibition, Irina is at Bellum Church.

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 118

Find Ofnir in Roundtable when you arrive after Margitt.

Find Nepheli near Godrick and exhaust her dialogue, then find her in Roundtable and she'll tell you of Ofnir being her adoptive father.

Talk to Ensha for an emote. After defeating any Shardbearer Ofnir provides more information about all the others, talk to him after each defeated Shardbearer for a reward, or ignore it and purchase it from Roundtable's general merchant after defeating him as a boss.

Reach the Village of Albinaurics in Liurnia. Here, speak to Nepheli who will talk about how Gideon did all this destruction and she hates it. Always here, Find Albus, hidden as a barrel, and he'll reward you with half of the Medallion to the Haligtree.

With the first half in hand, find Latenna after the Lakeside Crystal Cove and she'll join you and give you the second half.

Go back to Roundtable and you'll be invaded by Ensha, he seeks the Haligtree key for Ofnir. Defeat him and discuss it with Ofnir.

Find Nepheli in Roundtable depressed about her father's action, then speak to Gideon again about it. Here she could be given the potion of Seluvis to make her a puppet, or she can be given the Stormhawk King, a spirit ash that can start the area of the game. Roderika must be at the point of being a Spirit Tuner to give Nepheli the ash.

Find Kenneth in north-east Limgrave on some ruins. He'll ask you to go to Fort Haight and defeat the knight there. Let him know and he'll then move here promising a reward. Exhaust his dialogues again.

After defeating Morgott, sit at Lake-Facing Cliff (Liurnia), first on the map after Godrick and reload. Gostoc and Kenneth will move to Godrick's throne room with Nepheli and make her the Lord of Stormveil, rewarding the player with an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Another one can be bought from Gostoc, Godrick's previous servant.

Bring Latenna to the Apostate Derelict in the Consecrated Snowfield to finish her quest and receive a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

• Knight Bernhal, Patches, Tanith & Rya (Zoryas)

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 130

Find Patches in Murkwater Cave, don't kill him and he'll become a merchant. When reaching Liurnia he'll also move there, giving the player the suggestion of letting us be captured from the Adbuctor Virgin in the bottom of Raya Lucaria to reach the Volcano Manor.

Find Bernhal in the Warmaster Shack selling Ashes of War.

Rya, will be in a pavillion in Liurnia of the Lakes, where she'll say someone stole her necklace. That someone being Boggard, which can be found in a shack nearby. Buy it from him, bring back the necklace and she'll invite us to Volcano Manor. From here, she can be met in Altus Plateau in two different spots, but make sure to rest at a grace should she not spawn:

- the lower part of Lux Ruins, up the stairs on the right from the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace, if you went through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice first

- the top of Grand Lift of Dectus, to the left of the top of the stairs leaving the lift platform, if you used the lift first

Once we reach Mount Gelmir, there is a spot near the cliff west of First Mt. Gelmir Campsite grace, where a line of Rainbow Stones will lure us to the edge with the iconic Patches trapping us.

After joining the Volcano Manor he'll become a merchant here until we defeat Rykard. Here, Tanith will talk to us about multiple assassinations. Perform all the assassinations asked and you'll be given the option to meet Rykard. Check with the NPCs after each target.

- The first target is Old Knight Istvan who will be given by Tanith.

- The second target will be Rileigh and will be a letter on the table.

- The third and final target will again be on the table next to Bernhal, Juno.

Optionally:

- After the first target, talk to Patches, he'll give us Tragoth as a target as a personal request.

- After the second target, Bernhal will have a quest to target two objectives, Vargram and Wilhelm.

After assassinating the first target, Rya will move to a different room of Volcano Manor and will lose her disguise and look like a snake, where she tells us her real name, Zoraya. After the second target, she'll start complaining about hearing noises from the room adjacent, where an invisible wall will allow us to explore the rest of Volcano Manor. Defeat the Godskin noble in the Temple of Eiglay to obtain the Serpent's Amnion.

Give Raya the Serpent's Amnion and she will disappear. When speaking to Tanith there will be an option to dialogue about Zoraya's disappearance, she will give us the Tonic of Forgetfulness.

Zoraya will move to a small room near a lava pit filled with cages and skulls, where we will have three options. Easier to reach starting from the Temple of Eiglay grace, going to where there is an Abductor Virgin in the area, then under the bridge past it, and then into the room with her.

Kill her, leave her alive, or give her the Tonic of Forgetfulness. The rewards are the same so let her live.

After doing all targets, which means going up to the Mountaintop of the Giants, kill Rykard and speak to Tanith and Patches. Tanith will move to Rykard's arena and Patches to the Shaded Castle, right outside the Knights of Briar boss. Patches will give you Dancer's Castanets for Tanith, which you can give her but she'll refuse. Now you can kill Tanith for her set, and her knight will invade you rewarding Aspect of Crucible: Breath.

Patches will move back to Murkwater Cave, and become a boss again but this time he'll surrender immediately and go back to being a merchant.

Berhal will leave Volcano Manor and will invade us in Crumbling Farum Azula, in the walkway to the Old Lord's Talisman treasure chest, after passing the Beside the Great Bridge grace.

Zoraya will leave after Rykard's death, go to her final location for her loot.

• Dung Eater & Boggart

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 153

Find Boggard first in Liurnia as a vendor, needed for the first step of Rya's quest.

After reaching Altus Plateau, the room in Roundtable where the Dung Eater is will be open. After finding our second Seedbed Curse, he'll give us the key to his jail in the sewers of Leyndell. Go there and free him.

Next, a letter will be at Roundtable hold where he used to be, inviting us to meet at the outer moat, a patch of water near the entrance to Leyndell where the Dragon Tree Sentinel is. Here, the Dung Eater will invade us and try to kill us. It's possible to save Boggart by not buying prawns from him at all in Liurnia. If you have purchased from him and cause him to move to the outer mot, pass time until night and go to Boggart, who will be found tied to a chair. Exhaust his dialogues and loot the seedbed curse.

After defeating the Dung Eater, he'll tell us at Roundtable to feed him the Seedbed Curses to his real body, in the cell we found him in. We can do that and get a rune that will unlock an extra ending, or, we can feed him the potion of Seluvis and make him a puppet.

• Corhyn And Goldmask

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 159

After reaching the Altus Plateau, Corhyn will move next to the monument with the piece of map of the Altus Plateau. Here, he'll ask for directions toward Goldmask. Goldmask is on the other side of the broken bridge with the valley full of Wormfaces just ahead.

After learning of Goldmask's position by trying to talk to him, go to Coryhn and let him know. From here, he'll move with Goldmask for most of his quest. Teleport back to Goldmask's position and talk to Corhyn.

After obtaining at least two Great Runes and unlocking Leyndell they'll move to the near colosseum of Leyndell. Here we'll need first to cast Law of Regression in front of Marika's statue to reveal that Radagon is Marika. Relay this information to Goldmask at the Colosseum.

Next, we'll find them in the Mountaintop of the Giants, on the bridge near Stargazer's Ruins. Here we can offer Corhyn the Tonic of Forgetfulness, but he'll refuse it.

Lastly, after completing Crumbling Farum Azula, we'll find Corhyn near the entrance to the ashed city, kneeling near the tip of the giant golden spear. If we offered him the Tonic of Forgetfulness, he'd be at the previous location. Exhaust his dialogue and reload for his items. We'll find Goldmask at the bottom of the Colosseum and he'll reward us with a rune, unlocking another ending.

Elden Ring Veteran's Guide (SOTE included) image 166

After we reach Liurnia, Varré will move from the First Steps to the Rose Church in Liurnia. Here he'll ask us to invade players, but in Writheblood Ruins since patch 1.06 there is an invasion sign of an NPC that will also allow us to proceed with the quest offline.

When returning to Varré, he'll reward us with the Lord of Blood's Favor, which he wants soaked in the blood of a maiden. The easiest way is the body at the Church of Inhibition, near where Vyke invades us.

Delivering the Lord of Blood's Favor will reward us with the Pureblood Knight's Medal, an item that can teleport us to Mohg's Castle. By using it, White Masks will invade us multiple times on the map. Near the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint grace, we can find a sign of Varré for a final showdown. After defeating him, talk to his dying body where his summon sign was.

We can find Millicent in the Church of Plague just above. Reload, she'll feel much better and will leave on her journey.

Return to Gowry's Shack where he won't be, but Millicent will. Exhaust her dialogues, reload and exhaust Gowry's dialogues.

Next, we'll find her just northeast of the Erdtree Gazing Hill grace, and to proceed we'll need the Valkyrie's Prosthesis, which can be found in the Shaded Castle.

She'll move to Dominula, where she can either help us defeat the Godskin Apostle or will have dialogues next to where the boss was.

Next, she'll move near the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins grace, exhaust her dialogue here too.

We'll find her again in the Prayer Room's grace in Elphael, exhaust her dialogues here too.

On our way to Malenia, we'll pass inside an open area with tree branches and a pool of scarlet poison. Here, we must first defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, then she'll move here.

We can either help her or fight her. There will be two signs available. - If we help her, after defeating her sisters she'll talk to us just near where the sign was and when reloading the area the needle we gave her will be on the floor. The needle can then be used on the Scarlet Aeonia in Malenia's boss arena after defeating her for an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Preferred option.- If we fight her, we'll be rewarded with the Rotten Winged Sword Insigna, good talisman.

Talk to Gowry after to talk. You will no longer be able to purchase from him. If you kill Gowry at this point, you will receive the Flock's Canvas Talisman and Gowry's Bell Bearing. If he is already dead, both items will still be obtainable from his corpse, found in Gowry's Shack.

At the first cross, meet Redmane Freyja and Hornsent, and exhaust both dialogues back and forth.

Redmane Freyja will also instruct us to ask Hornsent for a map of the Miquella crosses he has found.

Proceed towards Belurat, and find here both Ansbach and Moore. Again, exhaust all dialogues. When you rest at the grace, you can speak to Ansbach about Moore and he will give you more lore information about him.

Ansbach will ask for the locations of the crosses, each time you find one, report.

Moore is a merchant and as long as he's alive, the Scavenger Brood will share cookbooks with us. Buy an item from him, then reload and exhaust his dialogues to get the Black Syrup.

Moore HAS TO be alive or the Forager Brood won't give us the cookbooks. Killing a Forager Brood will cause him to invade us.

Make your way to Thiollier, near the Pillar Path Cross grace on the way to Igon and the Dragon Pit, here exhaust his dialogues.

Speak with both Thiollier and Moore to learn that Thiollier needs Black Syrup from Moore, and to get it and deliver it in exchange for the Thiollier's Concoction, needed for the Dragon Priestess Florissax quest.

Proceed in Castle Ensis, defeat Rellana, then find Leda and Hornsent just outside. Exhaust their dialogues.

Hornsent will give another map of crosses.

Dryleaf Dane is the Monk who leaves the letter near the cross, and he'll always be hostile at the end. He can be found just East on the next cross of Miquella near some ruins. Use the "May the Best Win" emote on him to start a fight and get the Hand-to-Hand weapon.

Proceed enough into the game to approach Shadow Keep and a message saying something broke will appear. Miquella has left his love behind and all NPCs are not under his spell.

Exhaust all dialogues again with everyone.

Talk to Moore and tell him "Put it behind you".

Complete the Stone Coffine Fissure, and especially talk to Thiollier, and tell him about St. Trina's whereabouts. He should move in front of St. Trina.

He won't be able to hear her voice, but we can, by Imbibing her nectar up to 5 times, if not more. Exhaust Trina's Dialogues.

Tell Thiollier what she said, and Thiollier won't believe us. Insist by telling him again and he'll get angry.

Drink the Nectar again for the next step, BUT, maybe use a Sacrificial Twig to avoid losing runes as they will be locked for a moment.

Thiollier will invade us, defeat him, and find him again in Trina's Shine. Talk to him again, and as long as we hear Trina say to kill Miquella, we'll be able to refer the words again to Thiollier.

Exhaust his dialogues until he only says a raspy: "A-Ah".

Now he'll be a summon both for Leda and the final boss, after which, in the arena, we'll find his body and equipment.

Leda will suggest that not everyone can be trusted and ask who should she kill. She will go for two people really: Hornsent and Ansbach.

Giving no answer will lead to Hornsent being the victim regardless, and two summon signs will appear at Shadow Castle near the shortcut to the Main Plaza. We can either help Hornsent or help Leda kill him.

Unless we summon Hornsent for the fight with Messmer, he'll always attack us at the end.

On the other hand, not helping Leda, will lock us out of the next step of the quest. IMHO, help Leda kill Hornsent and get his equipment.

Next she'll want to go for Ansbach, but first, exhaust her dialogues.

Enter the Shadow Keep's Specimen Storehouse and find Ansbach in a room on the lower floors.

Make your way up the tower and find the "Secret Rite Scroll". DO NOT GIVE IT TO HIM.

Find Redmane Freyja on the 7th Floor grace, exhaust her dialogues, then talk to Ansbach and deliver both the scroll and Freyja's questions.

Reload the area to receive the Letter for Freya.

Delivering this letter to Freyja will add her to the entourage of NPCs to fight later, but not doing so might lock out some items, so do give her the note of Ansbach on how to understand.

Go back to Ansbach to deliver the message of Freya about facing him in a fight.

Reload the area again and now two signs should be available.

Leda wants to attach Ansbach, and this is a good moment to side with Ansbach as he'll also be one of the few NPC that can be summoned later. Fighting with Leda will reward a Talisman, while with Ansbach, his bow.

Towards the end of Enir-Ilim - MAKE SURE TO CLOSE EVERYTHING ELSE BEFORE - Leda will stop us and realize our search for Miquella is not to help him but stop him, so she'll want to fight us.

Both Thiollier and Ansbach should be available as summons, summon both.

Use the red sign to find her and her associates, and at the end of the fight, all NPCs' bodies will be around rewarding their equipment.

Reminder, Thiollier and Ansbach will be in the final boss arena after the fight.

Item Checklist

For an item checklist, I strongly suggest this one[scripterswar.com] , as it allows you do download the config file and restore it when needed. Good way to keep track of all items in the game.

Buff Stacking

My setup for buff stacking is the following.

1. I start by equipping:

- A weapon, in this case, the Giant Crusher hammer with Royal Knight Resolve on it.

- Estoc with Seppuku on it.

- Mushroom Crown helmet.

- St. Trina Smile talisman.

- Axe Talisman (since I do RNR and a change attack, might as well).

- Two-Handed Talisman, free extra damage.

2. I use a Lulling Branch to slowly build up sleep.

3. Once sleep is about to kick in I use first the Golden Vow item, then cast ideally right before falling asleep Flame, Grant me Strenght incantation.

4. Switch the talisman to Kindred of Rot's Exultation talisman.

5. Use two Fetid Pots to poison myself.

6. Switch the helmet to White Mask and talisman to Lord of Blood's Exultation.

7. Use seppuku, then switch to hammer.

8. Activate Roylal Knight Resolve, then run to the boss and charge attack.

The best damage I saw was 10490 in the base game and 24730 in the DLC and! :)

To Do's And Final Thoughts

I would like when I have time, to update my maps to remove some of the UI elements that made it through the merge and to correct the ones of SOTE where I think I might have missed one Ash or Scadu fragment.

I'm honestly uploading this after a friend suggested so when I showed him how much manual work I made, in case anyone else plays the game like me and would like to have this.

Please do provide me feedback, and I'll be more than happy to adjust potential mistakes.
