Finding Sozo In Spore Grotto

Before you can make Sozo one of your followers, you’ve got to meet him first. This happens when you unlock Spore Grotto, which only becomes accessible once you reach the Anura biome. For those who haven’t gotten there yet, the Anura biome is the second area of the game, and you’ll unlock it naturally as you progress.

Once you’re in Anura, keep an eye out for Menticide Mushrooms. These little fungi are key to moving the questline forward, so don’t miss out on collecting them when you spot them! After gathering a decent amount, head over to Spore Grotto and meet Sozo himself. He’s easy to spot—just look for the eccentric character who’s clearly taken his mushroom obsession a little too far.

Sozo’s Mushroom Quests

Now, here’s where things get interesting. Sozo won’t immediately jump to join your cult. First, you’ll have to prove your worth by completing a series of quests for him. Every time you talk to Sozo, he’ll ask for more Menticide Mushrooms, and honestly, he’s kind of obsessed with them. But, gathering them is pretty straightforward as long as you keep revisiting Anura and pillaging the mushroom patches.

Each time you return with the mushrooms, he rewards you with something cool. You’ll also learn more about his rather... unique personality. Eventually, you’ll get through all his requests, and just when you think you’re done with him for good—plot twist—you find Sozo dead in Spore Grotto.

Resurrecting Sozo And Making Him A Follower

Now, you’d think that’s the end of it, right? Wrong! The Sins of the Flesh update is your saving grace here. Thanks to this update, death isn’t exactly permanent for Sozo. You’ll get the opportunity to resurrect him and bring him back to life. And the best part? After you bring him back, he can join your cult as a follower! How cool is that?

Once he’s in your cult, Sozo adds his own funky mushroom vibe to your ranks, making all those mushroom-collecting quests worth it. Just keep an eye on him; you never know when he might start asking for more mushrooms...
