Clean Up Your Resurrection List

Clean Up Your Resurrection List

Before You Get Started...

I'm going to do my best to cut to the chase of what you need to know, and keep it simple to read while being thorough enough to properly convey the instructions and why it needs to be done the way I'll mention later.

Another thing, this involves using a save editor. If you're not comfortable with the idea of using one, regardless of what your reasoning is, then stop wasting your time here and move on. However, I can assure you that if you properly follow the instructions listed below, this process is safe and will leave your game unharmed of glitches and bugs, at least in my experience I've yet to come across any unusual oddities caused by this.

Every important detail will be highlighted in bold font, like this. It is crucial you pay attention to these, as doing so will completely prevent, or at the very least minimize any potential damage you could inflict on your save, because this will involve completely deleting dead followers from your game. This is why you should ensure that all the followers you care about keeping are alive and out of the graveyard, so you don't risk losing them. Last but not least, prepare to make a backup of your save EVERY TIME before you perform any type of save editing. This is to prevent any possible damages that could come from accidental mistakes you might make. There are also serious story spoilers in this save tool, but one of the steps will mention a way to completely avoid them, so again please pay freaking attention to the bolded text.

One last note, make sure you don't have any dead bodies present in or around your settlment, and that there's absolutely no followers buried in graves and/or sitting in morgues before starting this process, as game breaking bugs and issues could occur if you fail to do so otherwise. This tip is in courtesy of Alucard, which you can find the comment here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1313140/discussions/0/3815165632075311467/

If you've read this completely, you're now ready to begin this very simple and short process.

What To Expect

This is the problem you've come here with:

You can't see it in this screenshot alone, but I have a decent amount of followers clogging my resurrection list that I don't care to ever see again.

This is what to expect if you've followed the instructions properly:

They are no longer there, which makes my game feel cleaner than it has before, and makes me more reluctant to continuously hire more followers.

What You'll Need

- You'll need this save editor tool that is ran through your internet browser: https://cotl-save-editor.vercel.app/

How it's going to look like upon first glance:

- You'll also need access to your save file, which should be located here for Windows users:

%USERPROFILE% \AppData\LocalLow\Massive Monster\Cult Of The Lamb\saves\

Your "saves" folder and save file should look like this:

Ignore the "namify" file, as that comes from a mod that simply adds extra generated names to my game. You shouldn't see that there, unless you have the mod yourself. The save file is highlighted in red, and the # by your save file is determined by the save slot position it is in game. Because my game only has one existing save at the moment, it is named slot_0.json

That's all you need. Moving on.

Please Do This

Highlight your "saves" folder and copy/paste it in the same root folder, or at least anywhere you'll be able to find it:

I am literally going to make this a separate category and step to catch those buggers that TLDR; all the ♥♥♥♥ they come across. Seriously, please do this every time before you attempt any save editing, as I am not responsible for what happens to your save, plus it's always important to have an insurance policy in case something goes wrong. If you STILL miss this step somehow or just don't do it, you're the only one to blame here for any permanent damages that take place.

Moving on.

Using The Save Editor

- Click on the folder icon at the top of the save editor:

- Locate your save file as instructed in the previous section and open that save into the save editor. Once you have done so, this is what it should look like:

- Use ctrl+F to find "Followers_Dead", which should take you to these two lines:

The reason why it's important to use ctrl+F here is because it will let you go straight to the list categories of code you need to delete and avoid story spoilers that is riddled in between the other categories of the save editor. Plus it's real convenient to do this every time. You won't have to worry about coming across any spoilers if you do this step every time.

- Click on both of these list categories, which should expand them and show you the ID's and stats of all your dead followers. This is what these lists should look like:

- Highlight and delete everything inside of these two lists while keeping the " ] " at the very end to ensure nothing messes up the code:

- Last but not least, click on the arrow icon to download your newly edited save and use it to replace your existing save:

Done

If you've done everything listed above and followed it to the dot, you should have achieved this:

If, for some reason, anything went wrong or just didn't work, restore your backup save that you've hopefully made before starting this process to start over and try again.

Now go enjoy mercilessly hunting for new followers and do with them as you please with your less cluttered save. Thank you for reading and enjoy your day.
