Germany - The Siege of Sevastopol Doctrine guide

Overview

Prepare for a mission that's not as simple as it may first appear. It's like a two-act play, and your choice of doctrine is the director's cut that shapes the drama. There are three intriguing doctrines to choose from, and I'll gladly give you a sneak peek into what each one brings to the stage. However, remember, I won't be holding your hand through this map; it's your show to run. So, let's dive into the doctrines and see which one fits your style.

The 3 doctrines and quick overview are:

All-Round, 213th Infantry Regiment

If you're one of those players who can't be bothered with challenging yourself, then this doctrine is your go-to "easy mode." I mean, seriously, why break a sweat when you can have it all handed to you on a silver platter?

So, here's the scoop: Pick this doctrine, and voila! You'll start with what they call a "strong starting force," which basically translates to having the most firepower of the bunch. You'll be drowning in troops, like you're running a military surplus store. And guess what? They'll throw in not one, but two mounted MG42s, just in case you were worried about having any difficulty dealing with infantry. How considerate!

But wait, there's more! This doctrine kindly bestows upon you the Sturmpanzer, a real game-changer with its mighty HE shell and decent range. It's like having your own personal artillery piece. And oh, it's not just for show; it's handy not only in the initial phase but also in the sequel – because, you know, who wants a challenge?

And the icing on the cake: in phase two, they roll out the Heavy Tank - Pz.Kpfw B2 740 (f). It's good, not great, but it'll do the job, especially if you're in the mood for some casual trench-clearing, provided you keep it away from those pesky AT guns. So, if you're looking for an easy stroll through this mission, this is your golden ticket to a carefree gaming experience.

Offensive, 173rd Engineer Battalion

Well uhm, it's just a bit perplexing that someone decided the Engineer Battalion would be the "offensive" pick here. I mean, who wouldn't want to charge into battle with a bunch of engineers, right? But hey, don't let that deter you. In the first phase, you'll have the Nebelwerfer at your disposal—a weapon that's as accurate as a blindfolded archer riding a rollercoaster. And guess what? You can't even refill its ammo during this phase, so you'd better make those rockets count by praying to the RNG gods. As if that's not enough, you'll also get two squads of Panzerpioneers, perfect for trench warfare, if they can survive the laser-guided AI mortar strikes that'll have you questioning your life choices.

But wait, there's more! In phase 2, this "offensive" Doctrine finally steps up its game and brings out the big guns—well, two Panzer 3 tanks, to be exact. Because nothing says "offensive" like engineers rolling into battle in tanks, right? So, you see, it's not as odd a choice as it may initially seem.

Challenge! Sturmpioniere or death!

Oh, you fancy yourself a real-life demolition expert, do you? Ever dream of smashing things IRL as the enemy wipes out entire squads with just one gloriously erratic mortar shot? Well, hold onto your helmets, because we've got the doctrine you've been fantasizing about! Get ready for a rollercoaster of excitement as you lead not one, not two, but three troops of "Elite" Panzer Pioneers, all strutting their stuff at a Vet level 5.

But, ah, brace yourself, my friend. This ride can be as leisurely as a Sunday stroll through molasses. Sure, these pioneers are practically bulldozers when it comes to trench clearing, complete with flamethrowers and enough grenades to make you wonder if this mission secretly doubles as a Fourth of July celebration. But here's the kicker: this doctrine offers about as much support as a paper umbrella in a monsoon, especially in the early stages.

Now, hold your applause because, in phase 2, salvation finally arrives! You'll receive three Aufklärer troops, and they're the cream of the crop when it comes to vision units. That might sound like gibberish if you play with the Fog of War off, but if you're one of those hardcore players who love a challenge, this vision upgrade might just save your sanity. So there you have it - the doctrine that's either your dream come true or a logistical nightmare, depending on how many mortar shots you can stomach!

And then also, the "paperthin" AA Halftrack - Sd.Kfz 6/2 (3.7cm Flak). Because who needs armor when you can rely on the sheer power of optimism to keep you safe, right? It's not like you're trying to protect yourself from enemy fire; you're just here to have a nice chat with those enemy aircraft, and maybe, just maybe, they'll decide not to shoot at you out of pity. So, if you're in the mood for a good laugh and enjoy living on the edge, this flimsy halftrack is your ticket to an unforgettable gaming experience.
