The Tomb - Easter Egg

The Tomb - Easter Egg

Step 1 - Open The Door To Nowhere

1. To get started, you’ll want to survive for a few rounds in the spawn area of The Tomb, in order to earn enough Essence to progress.

2. Then, follow the orange objective marker, opening several doors by spending Essence.

3. The on-screen indicator will guide you to a purple, glowing rock on a pedestal. Hold interact (Square/X/F) to place an amulet inside.

o This amulet was obtained during the events of Citadelle des Morts, you don’t need to have picked it up in The Tomb. You’ll also be able to place down the amulet whether or not you played the previous Zombies map!

Step 2 - Build The Staff Of Ice

The easiest way to get the of Ice is by using a Wonderbar! GobbleGum to ensure your next Mystery Box roll is a Wonder Weapon. There’s a 50/50 chance of obtaining the Ice from the box after you use this GobbleGum.

However, you can also build the of Ice without consuming a Ultra-tier GobbleGum, using the method below:

1. First, wait until Round 8, and a Shock Mimic will spawn near your location.

2. Defeat the special Mimic and you can pick up the .

3. With this unique item in hand, you can now obtain both pieces of the of Ice.

The must be obtained first, as it allows you to see the symbols necessary to obtain the Ice components. The following two items can be obtained in any order:

1. Next, head to the Neolithic Catacombs, where you’ll see a constellation of a hunter on the wall near the Crafting Table.

2. To progress, you need to make sure that this purple crystal has spawned in the hunter’s cavern.

o If it has (and you have the ), you’ll be able to see the constellation symbols light up.

3. If it hasn’t, that means that the purple crystal is in one of the other spawn locations nearby. Find it, and shoot it.

4. Wait 45 seconds and the purple crystal will appear in another nearby location. Repeat this step until it is near the hunter constellation.

5. Next, you need to shoot the symbols in the constellation in the correct order.

6. Those who recognize Roman numerals should have few issues here, but since the symbols look a little funky, here’s the order that you’ll need to shoot them in.

if you aren’t too familiar with Roman numerals, here’s a brief overview of the order:

I: 1

II: 2

III: 3

IV: 4

V: 5

VI: 6

VII: 7

VIII: 8

IX: 9

X: 10

o Bear in mind that the location of the symbols will change each game, but the symbols themselves can always be shot in the order below:

7. You’ll now need to follow a purple orb that emerges from the constellation and fight off four waves of enemies in the area nearby.

o The first wave will contain only zombies and parasites, but each wave gets progressively harder with Doppelghasts and Shock Mimics joining the fun.

8. Once complete, pick up the , which spawns next to the hunter.

1. For the final piece of the of Ice, you’ll need to find the bull constellation in the Tombs.

2. Once again, we need to ensure that the purple crystal is in the same area as the bull.

3. If it hasn’t spawned there, simply look in the area nearby and shoot the purple crystal, then wait 45 seconds for it to appear somewhere else.

4. Once the crystal is near the bull constellation, shoot the symbols in the following order:

5. You’ll now need to fight off four waves of enemies in the area near the constellation.

6. Then, pick up the , which spawns next to the bull.

1. With both the and acquired, head back to the Door to Nowhere.

2. Inside the Dark Aether, head up to the strange altar to the right of the Pack-a-Punch machine and hold Square/X/F to interact with it, placing your components over the hole.

3. You need to defend the nearby area to protect your staff as it’s being built.

o Any zombies that are glowing purple are going to attack the staff, while other enemies will charge at you instead.

o If you fail this step, you can continue by interacting with the staff the following round – and your progress from the round before will be saved.

4. Once complete, pick up the of Ice and you’ve got yourself a Wonder Weapon!

Step 3 - Upgrade The Ice Staff (Purple Crystals)

Escorting The Orb

1. Next, look for a group of three purple crystals that are at least semi-close together.

2. If all your crystals are spread too far apart from one another, shoot the ones you’d like to move and they’ll appear somewhere new after 45 seconds.

3. Take out your Staff of Ice and use its primary fire to blast any three purple crystals within ten seconds.

o If this is not possible, you’ll need to find three different crystals, or reposition the ones you’re using.

o If you’ve got multiple players with the Staff of Ice in your party, you can split up to make this step easier.

4. Once you’ve successfully frozen all three purple crystals with the Staff of Ice, your character will have a voice line to indicate that this step is complete.

1. Once the Dark Aether Rocks step is complete, one of the four Doors to Nowhere will be sealed shut.

2. Exit the Dark Aether using one of the other portals, then head to where the newly-closed portal entrance is located in The Tomb.

3. You’ll see that the Door to Nowhere, which is now shut, has eight purple symbols on it.

4. Use the Staff of Ice to shoot the three symbols found on your Dark Aether Rocks.

5. This will open the portal once more, and you can head through it.

o If you get the wrong three symbols, the door will still open – but going through it will cause you to fall to your death!

o If you’re playing Solo, be sure to take a Self-Revive with you just in case.

6. You’ll now find yourself next to a purple orb in the sky.

7. Hold interact (Square/X/F) and you’ll begin escorting the purple orb.

o If you’re playing in a Squad, all members of the team must be in the Dark Aether and must escort the orb together for this step to succeed.

8. While escorting the orb, you need to remain close to it at all times whilst simultaneously killing zombies that spawn nearby.

9. Every zombie kill will power up the orb, which will float in a set path for around a minute before floating inside the altar.

o If you fail this step, don’t worry. After a short time has passed, you can repeat it by heading through the special portal in the following round.

10. Once you’ve completed the escort, head to the altar and hold interact (Square/X/F) to upgrade your Ice Staff into Ull’s Arrow.

Step 4 - Complete The Statue Trials

Vermin TrialDoppelghast TrialAmalgam Trial

1. Head to the right of the altar and you’ll see a blue crystal by this statue of a Vermin.

2. Switch to the Staff of Ice (now Ull’s Arrow) and switch to its alt-fire mode using the Left D-Pad or the B key.

o You will now turn the staff around to use its healing blast, which is also capable of reviving allies from a distance.

3. Fire the healing blast at the blue crystal and it will ignite with purple fire.

4. Interact with the flames to pick up the energy.

5. Then, leave via the blue portal to head to the Dig Site spawn area.

6. Here, you’ll find another Vermin statue glowing purple.

7. Interact with it to deposit your energy within.

8. You’ll now need to kill Vermin which spawn in the area nearby to complete the trial.

9. Once successfully completed, grab the energy back from the Vermin statue, and head back into the Dark Aether.

o Whilst holding the energy, you’ll need to ensure you take almost no damage, as getting hurt will cause you to lose charge.

10. Return the energy to the original Vermin statue in the Dark Aether.

Parasite Trial

1. The Parasite statue is located in the Dark Aether, just left of the Pack-a-Punch.

2. Shoot Ull’s Arrow’s healing blast at the Parasite’s statue to activate it.

3. Then, interact with the statue to claim the energy.

4. Exit the Dark Aether using the yellow portal, then place the energy into the Parasite statue in the Shrine of the Hierophants.

5. For this trial, watch to see which Parasites get infused with purple energy. Kill those Parasites and grab the purple orbs that fall from them.

6. Take the purple orbs to the Parasite statue and repeat until the trial is complete.

7. Hold interact (Square/X/F) to claim the Parasite statue’s energy, then head back into the Dark Aether and return it to the Parasite statue in there.

1. The Doppelghast statue can be found to behind the altar to the left, in the Dark Aether.

2. Use the Ice Staff’s alt-fire healing blast to ignite the statue.

3. Then, claim the dark energy by interacting with it, and head through the green portal.

4. Place the energy inside the Doppelghast statue in the Ossuary.

5. To complete the trial, defeat all the Doppelghast that spawn in the area.

6. At the same time, be careful to avoid the purple lasers and floor spikes that will pop up during the fight.

7. Once done, take the Doppelghast statue’s energy back to the Dark Aether and return it to the original statue.

1. The final trial is the Amalgam trial, and its statue can be located behind the Dark Aether altar, on the right-hand side.

2. Use the Staff of Ice’s heal to light the crystal by the Amalgam statue.

3. Then, interact with the energy to claim it, and venture through the red portal.

4. Head to the Deep Excavation (where Quick Revive is located) and place the energy inside the Amalgam statue.

5. You’ll now need to defeat an Amalgam boss zombie.

6. From time to time, in this fight, the Amalgam will receive a shield by tethering to a nearby enemy. Killing the tethered enemy will remove the boss’ shield, allowing you to defeat it.

7. One final time, grab the dark energy and return to the Amalgam statue without taking damage.

Once all four enemy trials have been successfully completed, a series of purple beams will fire up into the sky before lighting up a new doorway for you to explore.

Be sure to prepare yourself before heading into the final encounter, as this is going to take a while.

Step 5 - Boss Fight Preparation

Before you fight The Tomb’s Main Quest Easter Egg boss, we recommend making sure you’ve done the following:

• Maxed out at least your Primary Weapon rarity, and Pack-a-Punched to the third tier.

o Make sure your Primary Weapon is a bullet weapon. Explosive damage used by weapons such as the Ray Gun is entirely ineffective against the boss!

• Bought your strongest Perks (or used Perkaholic GobbleGum to acquire all Perks).

• Crafted a Self-Revive at the Crafting Table.

• Acquired your best Boss Fight GobbleGums (Phoenix Up, Shields Up, Idle Eyes etc).

• Crafted a Mutant Injector.

• Equipped the Dead Wire Ammo Mod.

• Crafted two Cymbal Monkeys or LT53 Kazimir tactical.

You may not need everything in the list above to take on the final fight, but we’d certainly ensure you’ve done at least most of it!

Most importantly, you must take a bullet weapon into the fight, as explosive rounds or Ray Guns are ineffective at dealing damage to the boss.

Then, head to the northeast of the Dark Aether, where the purple beams are pointing, and interact with the pedestal to open a path to the Sentinel Artifact.

Finally interact with the Sentinel Artifact to begin the final fight.

Step 6 - Defeat The Tomb Boss (The Sentinel Artefact)

Phase 1Phase 2Phase 3 & 4Phase 5 & 6Phase 7Phase 8 & 9

1. In , the Sentinel Artifact will shoot out a red laser beam and begin to rotate.

2. All you need to do to survive this phase is avoid getting hit, while killing any undead that are in the area.

3. When the Sentinel Artifact begins to rise, simply drop down the lower platform, and when it’s on the ground, climb the stairs.

4. After the boss is done spinning, it will turn a ghostly purple color. As soon as you see this, open fire on the Sentinel Artifact.

5. Once the artifact receives enough damage, it will lose a chunk of health all at once and move onto the next phase.

1. At the start of each new phase, there will be a Max Ammo Power-Up that spawns underneath the Sentinel Artifact. Grab it if you need a top-up.

2. In , there will be two artifacts firing out red beams, and the process is much the same.

3. Wait until the Sentinel Artifacts turn purple, and then concentrate fire on one of them until they take damage.

4. It is possible to damage multiple artifacts at once, but it can prove difficult to deal enough damage in the allotted time.

1. Nothing changes in Phase 3 and 4, other than the number of Sentinel Artifacts in play.

2. Each wave, one additional artifact is added to the boss fight, which means more laser beams that you need to avoid being hit by.

3. Once they turn purple, concentrate your fire on any one Sentinel Artifact to ensure it takes damage.

1. In Phase 5 and 6, no more Sentinel Artifacts will spawn in the center of the arena. Instead, the new artifact will be strapped to a boss zombie who will chase you around the area.

2. To complete this phase, you’ll need to defeat the boss, while still avoiding the incoming lasers.

3. Make sure you kill the boss while the other Sentinel Artifacts are still active (not ghostly purple).

4. Then, shoot the boss zombies’ purple artifact until it is destroyed, which will deal damage to the boss’ health.

1. In , the boss you need to defeat changes from a heavy zombie to a superpowerful red Doppelghast.

2. This enemy should not be taken lightly, as it can deal enough damage to kill players in one hit if they don’t have Juggernog – even if you’ve got full HP and armor!

3. Take it down, and then destroy the Sentinel Artifact it drops.

1. The next couple of phases are identical to , except with a supercharged Mimic and Amalgam fight respectively.

2. As ever, defeat the boss zombie and then destroy its Sentinel Artifact.

3. After that, you’re onto the final phase of The Tomb’s boss fight!

0

1. Once you arrive in the final phase of the fight, all Sentinel Artifacts will come together in the center of the arena.

2. Watch closely until you see one artifact begin to drift apart from the others, affixing itself to the wall to the northeast.

3. Focus all your fire at this special artifact and make sure it receives enough damage for its health to reach zero.

If you fail to finish off the Sentinel Artifact before the time runs out, your whole team will be wiped out and you’ll have to start the whole Easter Egg over from Step 1!

It’s an extremely brutal consequence for failure, but we should expect nothing less from failing to live up to the expectations of an ancient artifact capable of harnessing Prima Materia – the original material of the universe!
