Kzarka is Black Desert’s first-ever World Boss, as the Lord of Corruption first graced the Black Desert world during the update on March 30, 2016!

▲ Eep! Kzarka is truly terrifying!

Possessing a destructive might that rivals even that of a god, Kzarka is said to have first awoken in a distant arid land and led a glorious ancient kingdom on a path to ruin. His corruption would spread out across the lands and endanger countless lives until he was sealed away by an unknown sacred organization centuries ago.

The followers of Kzarka, noticing that his seal was incomplete, began to look for a way to unseal their god. This led to the Republic of Calpheon dispatching a unit of Valkyries from the Elion Church to re-seal the partially unsealed Kzarka, but it seems there were untrustworthy figures in their midst...

For the Elion Church, which commanded the Valkyries at the time, tried to subvert Kzarka's resurrection for their own ends under the name of the Fraternity of Light. However, after much contemplation, Enslar—the leader of the Valkyries—ignored their secret orders and re-sealed Kzarka, putting an end to his imminent resurrection!

This should be a story that is rather familiar sounding to Adventurers who’ve played Valkyrie. Even Adventurers who haven’t played Valkyrie might’ve heard bits and pieces of this story as they adventured through Calpheon.

Of course, this isn’t the end of Kzarka’s story. The witch who triggered the Three Days of Darkness in Mediah is said to be “knocking on the door” of the shrine itself. Meanwhile, Kzarka's cultists continue to look to bring back the Lord of Corruption, and currently occupy regions such as Serendia Shrine, Calpheon Shrine, Bloody Monastery, and the Abandoned Monastery.

Here’s an instructional image to answer both questions!

Kzarka appears at Serendia Shrine, below the town of Glish, as shown on the map!

Since Kzarka appears deep within the depths of Serendia Shrine, make sure to leave your horse outside, so you can defeat the World Boss without having to worry about your horse’s safety.

Now for what you’re probably wondering about the most. The rewards!

Before we dive in, you should be aware that the more you contribute towards defeating Kzarka (the more you hit him!), the more likely you’ll get better rewards, so don’t just hide in the corner!

Newer Adventurers are probably still unfamiliar with the terms, but have you ever seen a weapon with Kzarka in its name on the Central Market or talked about by other Adventurers?

This is a main weapon that is infused with the power of the Lord of Corruption, Kzarka!

If you ever obtain the Kzarka Weapon Box, make sure to open the box with the right character to get the appropriate weapon for the class you want to play!

These are fragments of Kzarka’s power. If you bring 100 of them to the Node Manager of Serendia Shrine, you can exchange them for a Kzarka Weapon Box.

A precious bag left behind by an adventurer who perished while defying Kzarka...

If you defeat Kzarka, you have a chance to obtain the Belongings of an Adventurer. Opening the Belongings of an Adventurer will grant you one of the following accessories (up to TET (IV) enhancement level).

- Ogre Ring

- Laytenn's Power Stone

- Eye of the Ruins Ring

- Orkinrad's Belt

- Valtarra Eclipsed Belt

- Narc Ear Accessory

- Basilisk's Belt

- Ring of Crescent Guardian

A weapon crafted by Liverto, a skilled blacksmith and once infamous mercenary captain in Serendia. Although this weapon by Liverto has seen many years, it is still in excellent shape.

Make sure to open the weapon bundle on the appropriate character to get the right weapon for your class!

By defeating Kzarka, you can obtain the Mark of Shadow, a ring that bears the insignia of the Shadow Knights. Surely this item will help new Adventurers explore the wider world of Black Desert?

Also, you should know that you need another Mark of Shadow to enhance this item!

A ring given to those who safeguard the Serendia Shrine by defeating Kzarka. You can say it’s an item honoring your will to defend Serendia Shrine!

And like the Mark of Shadow, you need another Shrine Guardian Token to enhance it!

Black Stones are one of the must-have items for adventuring in the Black Desert world that you use to enhance your weapons and armor!

Although Adventurers who are playing on the season servers with Tuvala gear don’t quite need them yet, there’ll be a day when they outgrow their Tuvala gear after the end of the season, so it’s a good idea to stock up on this must-have item.

Here’s a look at the special title, KeeezAaannng!

The title’s description says, “We started with a 'We,' but 'I' finished off Kzarka! KeeezAaannng!” So, you might be wondering, just how do you get this title?

You obtain it being the one to deliver the final blow to defeat Kzarka!

Holding this title is something that truly signifies your bravery, so make sure to keep hitting Kzarka until the end!

Ta-da! Here are timetables with the appearance times for all the World Bosses on the North American and European servers!

This is a form of Kzarka that is a culmination of the resentment rooted in being bereft of his soul by Illezra, the witch who unleashed the Three Days of Darkness upon Mediah!

Consuming a countless number of Adventurers who dared to stand in the way of his resurrection, his rage grows until it reaches its peak and erupts, bringing forth his more powerful “Nightmarish Kzarka” form. The appearance of this form shrouds the entirety of Serendia in a greater darkness, rousing the Lord of Serendia into calling for powerful Adventurers to vanquish it.

If you’re someone that’s scared of just the plain-old “haven’t burst into a nightmarish fit of rage yet” Kzarka! Please be careful whenever you encounter Kzarka. For no one knows when Kzarka’s rage will reach its peak!

For more information about Nightmare Kzarka, head over to our other guide.

We’ve pretty much covered all of the basics about the first World Boss in Black Desert, Kzarka.

Nouver first graced the Black Desert world on December 28, 2016.

As you cross the desert, it’s not just the heatstroke or hypothermia you should worry about. They say if you even catch a glimpse of the sand tyrant, Nouver, while adventuring alone, it’s best to start running...

▲ Nouver’s Fearsome Visage

On a certain day, a massive sandstorm swept over the great desert of Valencia. Although sandstorms are an everyday part of life in the desert, this one was different. No one had ever before witnessed a sandstorm of this magnitude.

Nothing was spared where the sandstorm passed through. The people of Valencia tried to discover the cause of this calamity, but none could even approach the storm. Time would eventually reveal the answer, as an adventurer’s journal would be discovered underneath the sandstorm’s passing tracks.

Before he was swept away, the adventurer described in his journal that he had seen a colossal shadow in the midst of the raging storm. The people would later come to name this immense shadow, Nouver, after the adventurer who left the journal.

Here’s an image that helps answer both questions!

Nouver appears in the great desert on the “Tyrant’s Hill,” southeast of the Sand Grain Bazaar.

Navigating the desert unprepared is a nigh-impossible task, so listen up Adventurers! If you’re afraid of losing your way before you can even face Nouver, visit the Loyalties Shop to nab yourself a compass, which will allow you see your bearings on the World Map and Minimap.

Now for what everyone is here for... the rewards!

Remember that you have a higher chance at better rewards the more you contribute to Nouver’s defeat (that means hitting the dragon where it hurts!), so take heart and fight courageously!

Probably an unfamiliar name to newer Adventurers, this is a box that contains a sub-weapon imbued with the power of Nouver. If you’ve ever seen a weapon with the name Nouver attached to it in a passing conversation or Central Market, this is one of the ways to obtain it.

Before opening Nouver's Sealed Sub-Weapon Box, make sure to open it with the right character, because the weapon you receive will only be for that character’s class.

Fragments of Nouver’s Power, which you can bring 100 of to Atui Balacs in Sand Grain Bazaar to exchange for a Nouver Sealed Sub-Weapon Box.

A thick, tough piece of Nouver's hide that was torn off during battle. It is used as material to make Nouver Statues.

You can place this statue in your residence to receive the following buff: All AP +15, All Resistance +5% for 2 hours!

A scale that grew in reverse on Nouver's neck. It is said to be an important alchemic material for researching Nouver's origins and power.

Once you complete O’dyllita’s main questline, you can right-click the scale in your inventory to find Black Eyeroot of the Thornwood Watch, who is searching for it, and begin the 14-part Orzeca's Records: Time of Dragons questline.

This questline will take patience and an incredible amount of effort, but it’s final reward is the legendary Inverted Heart of Garmoth!

What is the Inverted Heart of Garmoth?

The Inverted Heart of Garmoth is one of the “treasured” items in Black Desert, which can be obtained by combining Garmoth’s Heart with Inverted Energy. This item can be used to awaken the sleeping potential of Awakening weapons and sub-weapons!

Sub-weapons upgraded with the Inverted Heart of Garmoth will be transformed in a Fiery form with Max HP+150, Max Stamina +100, and Special Attack Evasion Rate +10%. While Awakening weapons will gain two crystal sockets and Critical Hit Damage +3%

A precious bag left behind by an adventurer who perished while fighting Nouver...

If you defeat Nouver, you have a chance to obtain the Belongings of an Adventurer. Opening the Belongings of an Adventurer will grant you one of the following accessories (up to TET (IV) enhancement level).

- Ogre Ring

- Laytenn's Power Stone

- Eye of the Ruins Ring

The Black Magic Crystal - Memory can be transfused into helmet sockets, which then grants Casting Speed +2 and Knockdown/Bound Resistance +5%.

Black Stones are one of the must-have items for adventuring in the Black Desert world, allowing you to enhance your weapons and armor!

Although Adventurers who are playing on the season servers with Tuvala gear don’t quite need them yet, there will be a day when they outgrow their Tuvala gear after the end of the season, so it’s a good idea to stock up on this must-have item.

Holding this title is something that truly signifies your bravery, so make sure to keep hitting Nouver until the end!

Ta-da! Here are timetables with the appearance times for all the World Bosses on the North American and European servers!

Nouver will occasionally be stained by the blood of victims that died in the desert sandstorms. The sand tyrant is rumored to appear even more vicious than before. This form is called 'Bloodstorm Nouver,' and it is greatly feared by desert travelers, merchants, and even soldiers.

If you’re someone that’s scared of just the plain-old “unstained by blood” Nouver! Make sure to be on your toes whenever you face the sand tyrant. No one knows exactly when Nouver will take his 'bloodstorm' form!

For more information about Bloodstorm Nouver, head over to our other guide.

That covers pretty much everything about Nouver, Master of the Sandstorm. All that’s left is for you to experience the sand tyrant for yourself!

The strongest female of the harpies is chosen as their queen and is given the name “Karanda”. Being the sole Harpy with the right to brood eggs, Karanda soared into the world of Black Desert on August 31, 2016.

▲ Karanda, the Vicious Slayer of the Skies!

Harpies that inhabit Karanda Ridge are social creatures that live in a herd. Harpies choose the strongest female as their lead, calling her “Karanda”. Karanda is critical to the very continuity of Harpies as a species because she is the sole being with the right to brood Harpy eggs. Some scholars speculate that this is because Harpies brooded by Karanda are more likely to have absolute loyalty to their queen, not only as subjects, but also as progeny.

They say the newly chosen Karanda hosts a bloody fest, slaughtering other creatures to boast her and her herd’s strength.

Here’s an image that helps answer both questions!

Karanda appears on Karanda Ridge, north of Calpheon, right near Florin.

If you want to face Karanda, head straight up to the top of the ridge!

Now, let’s have a look at the rewards!

The Delphe Knights of Calpheon have long fought the Harpies on Karanda Ridge in order to reclaim Balenos Mountains.

As a result of the prolonged battle, the Knights finally had their goal within their grasp. However, in order to protect their grounds, the Harpies chose a female Harpy even stronger than their existing Queen, and the newly risen Queen annihilated the Delphe Knights with feather like steel and a windstorm more vicious than ever.

In response, Captain Brego Williar of the Delphe Knights named the new Queen “Stormbringer Karanda” and raised the level of vigilance in the area near Karanda Ridge.

As you can guess, Stormbringer Karanda lashes out powerful wind to push back adventurers, and makes feathers like steel rain down on adventurers, mercilessly piercing them to the ground.

If you’re someone who’s scared of the plain-old Karanda! Make sure to be on your toes whenever you face the Queen. No one knows exactly when Karanda will “bring a storm”.

Appearing deep within the Scarlet Sand Chamber, Kutum first erupted into the world of Black Desert on September 14, 2016.

▲ The Massive Form of Ancient Kutum!

First discovered by archaeologists and explorers, Kutum is an ancient weapon powered by a fragment of the ancients, which acts like a beating heart. As Adventurers who’ve faced Kutum before are well-aware, Kutum appears deep within the Scarlet Sand Chamber.

In truth, if wasn’t for those archaeologists and explorers, Kutum may still be quietly resting within the sealed chamber, unbeknownst to the world...

Although this ancient weapon mostly remains dormant, it ensures its presence is never forgotten by emitting a thunderous, heartbeat-like sound whenever it awakens.

Here’s an image that helps answer both questions!

The Scarlet Sand Chamber is a place that immaculately preserved the remnants and mysteries of the Ancients.

When archaeologists uncovered the chamber, Kutum was overcome by the unknown energies that seeped out from the room, quickly turning the once guardian of the chamber into its destroyer. Having witnessed its never-before-seen destructive power, archaeologist Desalam christened this new form as “Thundercloud Kutum” and suggested restricting entry to the Scarlet Sand Chamber.

Thundercloud Kutum will electrocute and slowly kill any Adventurer who enters the stone chambers. In this form, Kutum radiates powerful energies in a much wider range than its original form.

They say when Thundercloud Kutum appears, an ancient device activates in the stone chamber...

Mirumok Destroyer Offin is a weapon created by the ancients who built the Mirumok Temple. This gigantic weapon first made an appearance in the world of Black Desert on May 2, 2018.

▲ The Massive Form of Mirumok Destroyer Offin!

Mirumok Destroyer Offin is an ancient weapon that absorbs energy from the spirits of the forest and delivers nothing but destruction to temple invaders. The colossal tree with roots is “Offin” and the pilot inside protected by the magic shield is “Offin Tett.' Judging from their defensive nature, it is presumed that the ancients created Offin and Offin Tett as guardians of Mirumok Temple to protect the secrets and treasures that lie within.

The ultimate goal in fighting Mirumok Destroyer Offin is to take out the Watcher Offin Tett. Unlike the World Bosses introduced in previous lessons, Offin needs to be fought strategically due to its special form; a useful tip is to use a matchlock. Once the fight commences, focus on destroying one of its roots to get Offin Tett to dismount the destroyer. Then use your matchlock to destroy the shield before Offin Tett’s HP drops to 70%. If the shield is broken, Offin Tett won't be able to get back inside the destroyer, meaning you can then finish Offin Tett off without worrying about the destroyer.

▲ Offin Tett, Outside the Destroyer!

Here’s an image that helps answer both questions!

As you may be able to guess from its name, Mirumok Destroyer Offin spawns near Mirumok Ruins, on the right side of Holo Forest.

A follower of the Black Dragon Markthanan, Garmoth first flew into the world of Black Desert on November 14, 2018.

▲ The Savage Crimson Dragon Garmoth!

The Black Dragon Markthanan is said to have triggered the great war between the dragons and the Sherekhan, which left the entirety of Drieghan in ashes. In this war, Markthanan led the dragons of Drieghan against humankind. Although most of the records about the great war were lost, the survivors still remember the black dragon all too well — for Markthanan was the very embodiment of a cruel dragon. Markthanan supposedly gave the other dragons fragments of crimson stones from his own body, granting the dragons power and putting them under his rule.

Now you might ask, just who were the Sherekhans that fought against the Black Dragon Markthanan and his followers?

The Sherekhan were the strongest warriors in Drieghan. They united the people of Drieghan and brought victory against the dragons. This victory would come at a heavy cost as the Sherekhan would end up being wiped out for being stained in the blood of the dragons. However, their memory still echoes throughout Drieghan as traces in places such as the Sherekhan Necropolis and Iron Mine. The people of Drieghan to this day call themselves the descendants of the Sherekhan.

The Crimson Dragon Garmoth is one of the dragons that served the Black Dragon Markthanan in the great war against the Sherekhan. During the great war, Garmoth was grievously wounded by the Sherekhan and forced to flee. She took refuge in a place now known as the Blood Wolf Settlement, where she recovered her strength thanks to the wolves there. Having recovered, Garmoth reappeared in the skies of Drieghan, bringing terror to the people of Drieghan once more.

Garmoth has a variety of offensive aerial skills at her disposal. She can summon the Kagtum that worship her and launch large AoE attacks. Differing from what Garmoth’s reputation would suggest, you need to destroy the statues that appear first when facing her. Once the statues are destroyed, Garmoth will appear alongside the Kagtum. Stay on your toes as Garmoth will unleash powerful AoE attacks

Here’s an image that helps answer both questions!

The Crimson Dragon Garmoth appears at her nest near the Night Crow Post in Drieghan, where the great battle between the dragons and Sherekhan took place. (There’s speculation that Garmoth’s nest was built by the Blood Wolves...)

Now, let’s have a look at the rewards!

Remember that you have a higher chance at better rewards the more you contribute to Garmoth's defeat, so keep your chin up and fight with courage!

It isn’t actually a heart, but rather a crystal instilled with the concentrated fiery magical powers of Garmoth. The influence of Black Stones has made it bear a dark and murky hue.

If you bring Garmoth’s Heart to Hughol, the blacksmith of Duvencrune, and accept the quest he offers, you can create the Inverted Energy, which you can heat with Garmoth’s Heart to obtain the Inverted Heart of Garmoth.

The Inverted Heart of Garmoth can be used to reform and upgrade Sub-weapons or Awakening Weapons.

Reforming an Awakening Weapon will grant the weapon two crystal slots and a “Critical Hit Damage +3%” effect.

A horn of the Crimson Dragon Garmoth that broke off during a fierce battle. Bring this horn to Gerson in Duvencrune to receive a “Young Crimson Dragon.”

Garmoth’s Scales can be used to craft HAN magic crystals.

Simple Alchemy:

- JIN/BON/WON Magic Crystal x1

- Combined Magic Crystal - Gervish/Macalod/Hoom x1

- Garmoth's Scale x3

A Black Stone Crystal that can be fused into any gear socket. The set effect depends on the number of Macalod crystals transfused to your gear.

* The 2 crystal and 4 crystal set effects are applied separately, and only once each.

A ring that signifies the total obedience of the Kagtum tribe to Garmoth. It contains Garmoth’s magic and grants an Extra AP Against Monsters +1 effect.

Open this item to obtain between 50 – 100 Caphras Stones.

Defense gear worn by Akum during the Great Battle against Markthanan, the Black Dragon. Although old and crude, the spirits of the great Sherekhan warriors reside within it.

Ta-da! Here are timetables with the appearance times for all the World Bosses on the North American and European servers!

Now, let’s find out how you can obtain the Resplendent Moonlight Chest.

1. Complete the “[O'dyllita] Vuhura Kaheliak" quest from the "[Lv.60 O'dyllita I] Flower of the Burning Moon" questline.
