New Players guide for making Money

Main

When you start your first play through, you should try and gain as much knowledge as possible and do the main quest. Gaining knowledge of the npcs in an area grants more energy. The main quests offer a lot of decent items and gear for your progression.

Suggested Life Skills

Entry level is taken into account when considering what life skills to do early in the game.

It is more beneficial to focus on leveling up your life skills first before considering how to maximize efficiency for profits. (IE, prioritize cooking exp > cooking time -1 items or + cooking mastery items)

You should also focus only on a few life skills, as certain things collide with each other. for example, cooking and alchemy are both on the more active afk side whereas fishing and processing are more on the long term afk side.

farming collides with worker empire as they both rely on the same resource CP.

Gear

https://grumpygreen.cricket/bdo-loggia-life-mastery-gear/

The loggia life mastery accessories are pretty decent to start off in any life skilling situation. The gathering tools are repairable and can be enhanced.

Most importantly, the gathering tools also reduces gathering time by 11 seconds.

The accessories also boost your life experience gain for all life skills, so they are worth having just for the small experience boost.

The loggia (life mastery) chest armor piece is not as desirable. It doesn't increase your life experience gain.

Life Spirit Stone

An alchemy stone that has 50 charges, it speeds up your gathering speed by 1.1 seconds

Gathering/Fishing levels, joining a well developed guild will usually give you +3 gathering and +3 fishing levels. these levels decreases the time it takes to hook a fish or gather materials. 5 is max.

Fishing

Afk fishing is a great way to make silver and is easily accessible from the start of the game. You can afk fish overnight or while you play another game with BDO minimized. You can sell the fish to a trade vendor or do imperial delivery(complex). You can also link the area you are fishing in through node connections and boost the sell value of the fish.

(Open the map, click on a main city or node to link. it costs CP to link nodes..Let's say you are fishing in velia and you want to sell your fish in heidel, you would connect all the nodes in between to link the cities, Then when you're done fishing, you can sell your fish in heidel for a little bit more silver.)

You can marketplace the rest of the more expensive items.

Make sure to do all the suggested quest that give inventory space as inventory space is one of the main limiters for fishing. The second limiter would be the quality of your fishing rod, but you can upgrade that later.

when AFK fishing, decreasing auto fishing time is more beneficial than increasing fishing levels.

There is an imperial fish vendor who buys a certain amount of fish across all players at a much higher price than usual. you can locate them by searching imperial fish in the npc search function next to the minimap.

Training horses

I believe you can start catching wild horses at taming level beginner 5. You can level up to beginner 5 by riding a low level horse or donkey at the start of the game. Each time the mount levels up, you will gain some training experience.

You can sell horses to other players or to the vendor. Selling to other players results in about 70% of the profits after tax cut. Selling to the vendor is 50%. Furthermore, if a horse is level 15+, when you sell it to the vendor, the option changes to imperial delivery, which grants you seals (shiny golden seals - [imperial training]) based on the tier of the horse( EG tier 3 horse gives 3 seals). Each seal is worth about 2+ million silver. you can trade 12 seals for a black essence: viper in calpheon stable guy ( Breesman ). You can heat this essence with a ancient magic crysal - viper (cost about 300k) to make a black magic crystal - viper (~30m).

You can auto loop your horse over night to level them up. Make sure to watch the loop for a cycle or two to make sure you don't get stuck while auto pathing. You can also purchase a 4 horse wagon to level up four horses at the same time. You will be able to level up four horses at the same time, which is faster than leveling up four horses individually.

Horse breeding is a bit complicated but you can use the lovely breeding chart over at

http://www.somethinglovely.net/bdo/horses/

The chart shows you possible results of the horses when you breed them together, simply select your horses tier and levels.

PS: I highly recommend buying or breeding yourself a nice horse. The world is massively beautiful and everything is better when you get there faster. I had a T8 horse before I got any boss gear. I was able cut down vastly on my travel times between areas ( except the desert cuz ♥♥♥♥ that place, unless you magically pull a T9 unicorn)

More in Depth Guide

Gathering

I highly suggest butchering as the main form of gathering, you can go over to goat mountain, in between heidel and velia on the mid western mountain range is a lot of goat and sheep. Go over there and kill them, then butcher them with your butcher knife(buy one at general store or market place). This is one of the best ways to get sharp and hard shards for upgrading your gear later on. You can also sell these for ~4m and 1.5m respectively on the market place.

In general, any gathering profession is fine as long as the byproducts sell for a decent amount and there is a large density of what you can gather.

Magical tools are better than loggia/manos tools until you have 600 or so mastery.(requires gathering skilled 5)

You can also queue up for red battlefield(RBF) and join when there's 11 minutes left. there is a daily inside for winning red battle field, which grants 200 energy. you also make pretty decent $$ from red battlefield, 4m for losing and 6m for winning. The red seals you get can be exchanged for red essence, which can be used to make battlefield crystals for good $$.

Farming

This one requires a bit of initial investment. You need contribution points before you can rent out fences from NPCs.

https://grumpygreen.cricket/bdo-fence/

Pruning or killing insects also give you chances at sharp or hard shards.

You can breed the plants to obtain higher quality or sell the produce on the marketplace. You can also breed enough seeds to plant a new batch and sell the remaining produce on the marketplace. The key note is pruning or killing the insects, as it is a pretty good source for sharp and hard shards.

Farming is also pretty low maintenance as you can just let the plants grow and collect them whenever. Plants do grow faster when you use fertilizer and water them, but it is not required at all.

When you breed plants, you also get various byproducts that can be used to make stonetail fodder. these sell for quite a hefty sum or you can keep it to use if you ever plan on trying to get a T9 horse.

Processing

The best thing to process is probably some sort of grain to flour and if you want to, to dough. The price of most grains such as wheat or barley (search flour in central market and check supply and demand) once you get to a decent level for processing, the average return for processing per material is 2.5 times. common grains cost about 900 silver each. The flour sells for about 1.2k after a the market cut, it'll be ~900 silver. but wait, the output is normally about 2.5 times per process, so we make about 2.5 times the money. flours cost about 1.2k and doughs cost about 1.5k on the market place, so you can further process flours into dough for an even bigger return on initial investment. You can also invest in farm nodes and have workers harvest grains for you to process. (check worker empire for brief intro).

pick up a loggia processing stone so you can mass process(different stone for each processing skill)

There are many items that can be processed but you'll have to do your own research.

Other Ways For $$

Events

As of this writing, the Christmas Piku event is up. For NA servers, https://discord.gg/bdo.

There is a channel named Piku.

You can track which server piku is spawning in. You can only hurt him with a hunting rifle but you can get one per family in Alejandro farm (right across from where Piku spawns). It is best to have stir ups on your horse so you can ride it and shoot the matchlock.

You can server swap every 15 minutes, which means you can hunt 3-4 Piku's per hour. Piku seems to drop about ~5m worth of items every time. You can fight this boss at any level.

World Bosses

It's fun to go fight the world bosses. Join the discord at /bdo to find boss spawn timers. you can try to win the lottery and earn 100m+ in one go. The loot drops aren't too shabby either. World bosses are marked on your map.

You can track boss spawn timers on NA servers in the following discord

https://discord.gg/bdo

Bosses don't spawn in Olvia servers and 1st channels of a server group.

Dodging is your best friend for early boss fights and don't go in by yourself.

You can dodge 99% of boss attacks either by being out of range or by actually dodging.

Grouping with other players will also be massively helpful as certain classes provide buffs and heals. The more the merrier.

Dark Rifts

These are going to feel impossible to do, however, there is no penalty when you die and you can just keep bum rushing to slowly chipping their health away. Highly recommend that you wait till dark rifts turn from level 5 to 1 before attempting to kill them with low gear scores. Which is approximately five days. These are also pretty fun to do when you are geared enough.

As you progress through gear levels, you can attempt higher rift levels.

There are two indicaters, one is difficulty which is in general how difficult the fight is.

The second is the Roman number level of the boss, (IE V, IV, III, II, I, where V is hardest) which affects how much AP/DP the boss has.

Guilds

Highly recommend that you join a guild when you start the game. Guilds provide passive bonuses such as gathering /fishing levels, AP/DP ETC. Also you can do guide activities to earn silver.

You can also request your guild master/ officers to start a guild mission for you. After you contribute to the mission, in the guild tab, (press g and then 3rd tab from the left) on the bottom right corner, you can collect wages when you contribute to a guild mission. (IE i acquired 200 logs for a guild mission and earned 2m gold in wages.)

you also get a daily stipend from your guild, which can increase as you contribute to your guild and sign new contracts (ask your guild officers for new contracts).

Red Battlefield

You can join the red battlefield by pressing escape and hitting war. You will have to be in the correct server to join. I recommend joining in the last 11 minutes as it locks out at 10 minutes left. You just have to endure being slaugthered by end game players for 10 minutes to earn 4m for losing and 6m for winning. There is also a daily inside which grands 200 energy for winning. The red seals you get (5 for winning and 1 for losing) can be exchanged to get a red essence, which can make battlefield crystals, which sell for a hefty sum. (requires 80 seals)

Grinding

You should grind wherever you feel comfortable grinding at. All I can suggest is that you bring a mount with you. You can overstack the weight on the horse. First, take the trash loot from the horse onto yourself. Then, put the trash loot from yourself onto the horse. You can repeat this until a very large amount. When you are leaving, you can take all the trash loot from the horse onto yourself with nothing on the horse. This way, your horse will move at full speed.

No Value Pack

Imperial Delivery is probably the best way for money as you are vendoring boxes to npcs. You can either cook or do alchemy to make ingredients for boxes. You can deliver a certain amount of boxes per day and the npcs only take a certain amount of each ingredient, with a chance of resetting every day.

You will have to do the leg work yourself to see which of these boxes are actually profitable to sell.

you can use this website to help calculate and do some of the leg work.

https://www.bdodae.com/items/index.php?cat=cooking#sort_imperial

Worker Empire

This is no actual worker empire but it is a start. It is a very brief overview of what you can do to make some AFK income for the smallest amount of investment. You just have to remember to feed your workers by opening up the workers panel and feeding them beer or something. This will not go in-depth about worker types or their skills. This is basically just grabbing any worker and sending them to work on a valuable node and earning passive income from selling the items.

However, Giants are probably the best workers as they have a lot of stamina, move very slowly. Since they take longer to do the same amount of work and can work for much longer, they are the best since you can forget about them for a long time. (Giants are not that great for making money faster since they are slow. But, they are the best for setting and forgetting.)

Workers can be hired from the work supervisor in each town or city if there is one. You can track down the NPC using the Find NPC button.

Before you can do anything with a worker empire, you have to go and talk to the node manager for that node before you can connect to it.

You get 1 free lodging for a worker for each city or town.

You will need a bit of CP (Contribution Points) to invest in nodes.

To invest in nodes, open up the world map and click on a node next to a city. For example, from Glish, you can connect to Central Guard Camp node for 3 CP. Then, you can now invest in Glish Ruins for 1 CP. Before your worker can harvest from Glish ruins, you would have to talk to the node manager after investing in Glish Ruins node to discover the harvesting point (I believe it requires 35 energy to unlock it from the node manager) . Now you can invest in the harvest node for 1 CP. Finally, you can now send your worker from Glish to harvest by clicking on the harvesting node in Glish ruins. (You can hire a worker from Glish)

Some of these nodes might require you to visit the node manager in order to discover the harvesting node after you have invested into the actual node.

You can hover over a node to see what can be excavated from it.

From Heidel, you can connect the node to lynch farm ruins and work the node for lynch farm ruins. You want the one for Trace of Savagery which sells for a decent amount.

From Glish, you can harvest trace of origin and trace of Hunting in Glish ruins.

From Velia to Ancient Stone Chambers for the traces there.

There's quite a bit more nodes. The point is, traces sell for quite a decent amount. you only need to remember to feed your worker so they can continue to work. You don't even have to go for the traces.you can just have them harvest grains such as potato, wheat or barley. Afterwards, you can have these items transported to your main city by wagon (in the storage managers, you can transport items for a small fee) and sell them there. You will have to go to the town or city in question to be able to transport / move to warehouse and sell the items harvested from the worker. (items harvested by worker goes directly to storage. If your storage is full, the worker in that town or city will not work.

You can use this map to check the nodes and hovering over the nodes can show you what you can harvest there.

In the future

When you learn more about the game, you should decide what your life skill will be. Some people like to trade, cook, mix potions, or process. The way you set up your worker empire should supplement your life skill.

For example, if you want to cook as your life skill, you should probably invest in an island node from velia to get some dried fish for those recipes. You'll want a lot of grain for various recipes. You'll want a source of fruit so you can have workers from olvia harvest grapes for you and probably some chicken and eggs from one of the farms as well. I hope this was helpful in getting your worker empire started and a small idea of how a worker empire should work.

I hope this was helpful in you understanding how a worker empire should work. This is a simple guide on how you can have workers make some more passive income.

Do understand that a worker empire will not make any money quickly, but will generate you income over long periods of time spent in game while playing or afking.

Dailies

There's a lot of dailies and weekly quest in this game.

If you are grinding at say for example bashims. In the reoccurring tab in quest (default button: o), you can check the unsealed magical materials tab and see if there is one for the monsters you are grinding. Most of these require you to do some quests before you can unlock them however and they normally originate from the person who gives you the daily quest. You can check the location of the NPC that gives the daily and do his/her quests. The day after, you should be able to unlock the daily which rewards a caphras stone and some other goodies that are worth a decent value.

Kama dailies are worth the most because they reward Peridot Leaf which can be traded for Deep Blue Hoofs at a 7:1 ratio. Kama dailies however have a very high gear requirement.

One of the most accessible dailies comes from Lara in Heidel. She has a daily called Lara's great discover and bread. You basically process the required ingredient she wants and hands it in to her. It will usually be some sort of grain dough and you can get a scorch fragment in return. Scorch fragments atm sell for 3.5m. To get dough, you can take the grain she wants and grind it (default button: L) . That will make flour and you shake the flour with mineral water(purchasable from npc) to make dough.

Another accessible weekly comes from Crio and his little shai friend Abelin. You can unlock it by doing one of the Crio or Abelin quests. The quest that rewards the triple float fishing rod is called Fish for Villagers. Triple floats sell for 9.3m and you get three of them. This does require you to have a boat so you can sail to sea and fish for the required fishes.

You can check what other dailies you might want to do by checking in the reoccurring tab in the quest menu.

Low Level Grinding

Requirements - a mount with stirrups, hunting rifle, 1 pet.

You can ride around your horse and shoot down beehives in Balenos forest, near Heidel Pass, for beehives. Beehives currently sell on the market for 25k each.

Your pet can loot the beehives while you continue to look around for more beehives to shoot.

It is helpful to move the camera up by pressing the up arrow button on your keyboard.

Road To 500m / Week

This is going to assume that you have about 150 energy, 150 CP and will be running the game pretty much 24/7 with most of the time afking.

It will also assume that you spend 1 hr grinding everyday (you should utilize the daily 1 hr exp buff) and 1hr spending all your energy daily.

Guilds

First and foremost, you should join a guild if you haven't already. You should work towards guild missions. Every guild usually has a main server and each guild is alloted 10 guild missions daily. Most of these missions will never be utilized. Therefore, most guilds would be happy that you want to do guild missions and activate them for you. Doing these guild missions will give you guild activity points, which will increase your daily wages from the guild up to 5m/day. Doing guild missions will also give wages for contributing to the mission. (guild daily payout collected in tab 2 and guild wages collected in tab 3, which is the guild mission page.)

5m per day * 7 = 35m/week

AFK fishing.

There's a reason why there is a lot of people afk fishing in velia and heidel. It's pretty lucrative. After you ranked up your fishing a bit and throw away the cheaper fish so you can fish longer for more valuable goods, you should be able to earn about at least 10m a night afk fishing. relic shards are 1m each and I fish up at least 5 every night. imperial fishing delivery will pay 250% for your blue and yellow fish, with blue fish ~30k and yellow fish 250k+. (personally I earn at least 20m a night afk fishing but we will assume 10).

10m/day * 7 = 70m/week

70m/week from nightly afk fishing

35m/week from guild payout

105m/week total

Farming.

10 strong fences for 10cp each = 100cp.

I get two breed attempts per day because i'm pretty lazy, once when I wake up and once before I go to sleep. I prune/ kill pest quite rarely because I'm lazy. You can get 3-4 harvests a day if you take care of your plants, use fertilizer, give water. I personally don't do any of that so my plants grow slow. I get 2 harvests a day and I breed all my plants. You can harvest and breed. The ranges should be fairly similar. I make about 10m per harvest. (15 fruits at 100k each. ~60-100 special seeds at 100k each. byproducts for ~ 2 stonetail fodders attempts)

2 harvest per day for 10m each and 7 days a week for 140

140m/week from farming.

105m/week

245m/week total.

Grinding for 1 hour

as stated above, the game gives you a buff everyday in the Y tab for boosted exp and skill exp. You should be using it daily.

you should be able to make ~10m while grinding for one hour. Higher gear zones give a lot more per hour. should be able to grind at desert temple nagas with 100 ap recommended. You can also do the dailies for these areas which rewards a caphras stone which sells for 2m.

(many grinding spots give a lot more silver/hour than 10m)

10m/day * 7 = 70m

245m/week

70m/week from grinding

315m/week

Energy

There are many things that you can gather for money.

If you are insanely lazy and don't want to lumber, butcher, or mine. You can burn your energy quickly milking cows at a lost. you get ~30milk per 10 energy and each milk currently sell for 10k for ~4.5m a day.

(actual gathering such as butchering or harvest blood yields much more)

With crappy mastery, you can get about 500 (probably a lot more) of something that sells for 9k and make 4.5m a day. HOWEVER, you also get enhancement materials such as hards/sharps, black stone fragments, faerie dust etc for more $$.

15*30*10 = 4.5m/day * 7

31m/week from spending energy

345m/week total

Imperial Delivery

Selling crates to imperial vendors yield good money. Let's assume you can at least make the 130k crates with the lowest entry requirements.

you would need 60 beers to make 1 crate. You have 150 CP, which means you can turn in 75 crates per day. it would cost you 600 per beer * 60 beers = 36000 or 1200 per cold draft beer * 20 cold draft beers = 24000 to make one crate. We'll take the average of 30k, so profits per crate would be about 100k.

(it will cost a lot less if you make it yourself and you can earn a lot more as you rank up your cooking. since it will unlock better crates for imperial delivery, higher CP values will also allow more deliveries daily for more profits. I personally make about 40m/day from crates.)

75*100k = 7.5m/day * 7 = 52.5m/week

345m/week

397.5m/ week

World Bosses

Each world boss will give you average ~5m per kill. Let's assume you only make it to 1/day.(you can do a lot more than 1/day) you should bring your highest AP character and do as much damage as possible.

Highly recommend in order, karanda, Dim Tree, Kzarka, Kutum, Bheg, Nouver.

35m/week from boss drops

397.5m/week

432.5m/week total

70m short from 500m!!?!?!? what a click bait title. DOWN VOTE and comment below to show your hate.

Though honestly, I can't do all the work for you. You can learn the game as you play and make an additional 10m per day. It's not that difficult to grind another hour or kill a couple more world bosses a week, heck, you could even afk fish during the day as well for another 10m/day. Your worker empire can generate value too if you utilize the 1 lodging per town/city. here's quite a lot of dailies in the game that reward good money such as Lara's making dough quest for a scorched fragment, which sells for 3m or can be used to make manos accessories for big money.

There are many ways to make $$ that's not covered in this guide (gambling with enhancements being a huge one). This is just to help newer players get started and earn silver. Hope this guide was helpful.
