Running Black Desert on Linux (2024)

Step-by-step Guide

Open your Steam settings, and go into the Compatibility tab. Enable both Enable Steam Play for supported titles and Enable Steam Play for all other titles, then restart Steam. If you've already configured this, skip this step.

When Steam launches, search for Proton Experimental in your library (you may need to tick off Tools in the search filtering), right-click on it and go to Properties. Go to the Betas tab and select bleeding-edge from the list (usually the first one) and then close the window.

Right-click on Black Desert in your library and go to Properties, then go to Compatibility and tick off the box that says Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and select Proton Experimental and close the window.

Now when you run the game, the launcher and all web service windows, including the marketplace, will work correctly.

You can also use ProtonGE version 8-28.
