How to Install Levelpacks

Introduction

There are already plenty of player-made levelpacks made by people during the public editor beta. However, getting one installed to play requires a small amount of file traversing. This guide covers how to install a levelpack.

If something is confusing or missing, please leave a Comment.

Open The Data/Worlds Folder

Find Data/WorldsThe Data/Worlds folder is where all levelpacks live. The process of finding it differs slightly between operating systems.

Windows/LinuxRight click Baba Is You in your library, then go to Manage > Browse local files. From there, head into Data/Worlds.

MacRight click Baba Is You in your library, then go to Manage > Browse local files. From there, right-click Baba Is You.app and choose Show Package Contents, then head into Contents/Resources/Data/Worlds.

Existing folders inside Data/WorldsMake sure you don't rename or remove these folders.

Move The Levelpack Folder To Data/Worlds

Identify the levelpack folderIn the levelpack files you downloaded, look for the folder containing other folders such as Music, Palettes, Sprites, and Themes, and files such as world_data.txt. This is the folder you want to put into Data/Worlds. Now that you have both the levelpack folder and Data/Worlds on hand, you can move the levelpack folder into Data/Worlds.

Check the levelpack folder's nameThe name of the folder is used to match up the levelpack with your save file. If it's something like 76world, the creator likely forgot to change it to something more unique. You can rename the folder if necessary, since you haven't started playing this levelpack yet. Otherwise, it's recommended to leave the folder name how it is.

Note: Make sure not to rename the levelpack's folder after you start playing it, or it'll create a new save instead of finding the existing one.

Play The Levelpack

Open Baba Is YouNow you can close the folders and open Baba Is You. If everything went smoothly, you can find the levelpack in Start the Game or Play Levels > Play Levelpacks.

Cool! You did it. Time to play some custom levels.
