The Weapons
Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun
The little (and only) autogun that could. The Agripinaa variant of the braced autogun has everything that every other autogun lacks:
Large ammo reserve
High damage
Big mag sizeIt fills a niche very similar to the recon lasguns, but contrary to the lasguns it has:
High stagger
Good penetrationThe gun is by no means perfect, and it has two non-trivial shortcomings worth mentioning:
No interesting Blessings
Hipfire onlyBeing a braced autogun, it mainly has blessings centered around close-range and suppression. This is good on paper, except every melee unit (other than poxwalkers) is completely immune to the effects of suppression blessings. And the other close-range blessings usually have VERY short buff durations and it's anybody's guess what Fatshark considers "close-range" anyway.
Additionally, braced autoguns are hipfire only with massive crosshairs. This might give the impression that they are very inaccurate, but that isn't really the case. They do perfectly fine at mid-range and Volley Fire gives a bonus to accuracy making it even deadlier.
Choice of melee weapon
While Agripinaa deals with hordes well, you will probably want to save ammo for elites, specials and ranged units.
Agripinaa also deals very poor damage to carapace, so you will want a melee weapon that can fill the gap.
There are realistically only two choices here that solve both problems: Power Sword and Chainsword. Pick the one you are most comfortable with.
The Idea
Your jobRanged units hit hard. Ranged units spawn in massive numbers on higher difficulties. This makes them hard to deal with for most classes.
Except for you.
With this build you press F, gain 75% ranged damage resistance on top of the other Volley Fire buffs and instantly highlight all ranged units currently on the map (except Stalkers). And every time you kill one, your ability refreshes back to 5 seconds duration.
Your job is now to kill as many ranged units as possible to keep your ability up for as long as possible for the 75% damage resistance. Why?
So you can soak as much ranged damage for your team as possible.
.
You want all ranged units to fire at you, not your team. That's why you run in first.
Help your team help you.
If you get overwhelmed by melee units, run and hide behind your Ogryns and Zealots so they can pretend to be useful. Then go back to the front and soak more ranged damage.
This might sound boring but it's not. :)
