Intro
An attempt to make modding Darktide as easy as possible for beginners.
Is Modding Darktide worth it?
Darktide is even better with mods!
Darktide has a great community of Modders that make some really cool stuff.
From giving you more information to be a better teammate, to allowing you to tailor the UI, settings and visual effects to your preference. Modding allows you to customize your experience.
Is Modding Darktide Safe?
Everything you need to download for modding in Darktide is straight from Nexus Mods,
the largest modding site for PC and a reputable source.
They also do a virus scan for all uploads to their site.
Darktide's developer (Fatshark) allows modding. Any mods that violate Fatsharks modding policy are removed from Nexus, so you should be safe to use any mods listed there.
You can find Fatsharks mod policy at the link below
https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/darktide-modding-policy/75407
Modding doesn't disable any achievements or use different servers than unmodded players.
1. Install Vortex
Vortex is Nexus Mods own mod manager. It's the simplest way to download and manage mods and you can download it from their site.
With Vortex you'll be able to download new mods with a few clicks rather than having to drag folders around manually. Managing mods is much easier as well.

Downloading & Installing Mods With Vortex
To download a new mod simply click the orange vortex button on the mod page. A window will appear to let you know if you need any other mods to make that one work. Select download.
Windows may ask if you want to allow Vortex to open these file types, make sure to allow.
Managing Mods In Vortex
Darktide Vortex Extension
After downloading your first Darktide mod, Vortex should ask you if you want to install the Darktide Vortex extension that allows it to manage your mods. Make sure to do so.
If you don't get this popup in Vortex, you can download the extension here.

The image below should give you a basic rundown of Vortex. Note that I am under the mod tab.
