The Guild System
NEW GUILD SYSTEM
Patch 47, carrying the rather emblematic name ‘Battle for Velika’, has the guild system at its core. In addition to the weekly guild wars, there will be a number of changes to the guild system itself. For example, the patch will see the introduction of daily guild quests, as well as guild skills which will provide all guild members with certain bonuses.
Here are all the important details you can look forward to in the new system.
GUILD CREATION
Budding guild founders will find it straightforward to create their guilds via the guild window (G), as long as the following conditions are met:
Your character must be level 8 or higher.
Be ready to spend 100 gold coins.
You must belong to a party with at least one other player. All party members will automatically be members of the newly created guild.
Afterwards, you will be asked to choose a name for your guild. This name cannot exceed 20 characters including spaces. Of course, you will have to make sure that this name respects the rules and sounds impressive enough to lead hundreds of people to victory!
GUILD EMBLEMS AND OFFICES
Once your guild is created, you can customize it in multiple ways. First and foremost, you have the possibility to add an emblem which will be displayed above each member’s head. This emblem must be 64x64 pixels (24 bits) and be in .BMP format.
Once you have chosen your emblem, simply place it in your game folder (TERA\Client\S1Game\GuildLogoUpload\Example.bmp). Afterwards, you can talk to Leonad in the Velika Consul Office and choose your emblem! This process is free and your logo can be changed at any time.
Once your guild and emblem is ready, it is time to set up ranks for your guildmates! You have the possibility to use the basic ranks (Guildmaster / Recruits), but you can also grant additional rights to custom-made ranks and thus control who has the rights to invite other players in the guild, manage the guild bank or write a guild message.
The following permissions can be linked to specific offices and given to chosen members via the members tab in the guild window (G):
Permission to accept/decline applications
Permission to use the guild bank
Permission to create announcements
Permission to advertise the guild
Permission to accept/decline guild quests
Permission to use guild gold
GUILD LEVELSWith the introduction of Patch 47, guilds will be able to increase their level by completing daily quests.
Higher guild levels award skill points which the guild master can use to unlock new skills for all guild members!
At the start you’ll always need the same number of experience points to level up the guild. Above level 11, this point threshold will gradually increase, with your guild needing more and more experience for the higher the guild levels:
GUILD SIZE
Guilds are divided into three different sizes: small, medium and large. The size of a guild has an impact on the type and/or difficulty of guild missions which can be completed.
Guild size is determined by the number of accounts belonging to it, rather then number of characters.
So if a guild has 40 characters, each from different accounts, it counts as small; guilds with between 40 and 80 accounts count as medium, and guilds with more than 80 accounts hit the threshold for large guilds.
GUILD MISSIONS
Guild masters can activate up to five missions each day, which will then be listed in every member’s quest log. Officers with sufficient permissions are also able to choose missions for the guild.
Only one daily quest can be accepted at any one time, and the mission’s progress is displayed to each member, being common to all guild members.
Each guild mission has a timespan of several hours, during which time they must be completed. Even if a guild master cancels a quest, it still counts towards the daily limit.
For example:
Supply Request: Collect 1200 Pilka Fibers
Once the guild master starts this quest, every guild member can collect the raw material in the game world. The amount of fibers collected is visible to all members in the quest log.
If the guild master then cancels the quest, it counts towards the guild’s limit of five missions per day. If that was the first mission of the day, for instance, then the guild can only start four more missions that day.
Note: The number of completable quests is reset each day, together with the dungeon entries.
The rewards for completing daily guild quests comprise guild experience and gold. While missions for larger guilds generate a great deal more gold, the amount of experience gained differs only marginally to missions for smaller guilds.
One further type of guild mission is available, taking the form of special hunting quests to eliminate specific BAMs. These quests last for two hours and can only be completed by a single guild each day. If your guild manages to take out the monster without being distracted, there’ll be a mountain of guild gold and experience waiting, on top of the valuable loot!
GUILD SKILLS
Guild skills can be selected and activated by the guild master, and are available to every guild member thereafter.
Choose your guild skills wisely! Once you’ve activated a skill, it cannot be undone, and the points remain locked in permanently.
Skills are divided into two types. Most of the skills are passive to begin with, increasing stats like power or HP. Later skills can be used actively.
Not all skills are available for activation from the start, many requiring a certain guild level before they become available.
Crystal System
What Are Crystals?
Crystals are enhancement items which you can attach to your equipment in order to improve your character’s chances of survival in a variety of ways. Crystals allow you to improve the strengths that your class already possesses, or they can be used to overcome weaknesses of your class. They allow you to customize your play style in a very detailed way. Crystals are consumable items, meaning that if your character dies, they could be destroyed.
Crystal Types
There are three types of crystals – blue, red and green.
Blue crystals are defensive crystals and can be embedded into armor items.
Red crystals are offensive crystals and can be placed into weapons.
Green crystals can be put into some high-level accessories like rings and earrings and have various effects.
Crystals can be common, rare or anything between. The rarer the crystal, the more beneficial it is. As you progress through the game, you will come across more powerful versions of crystals that you will have already seen. What is truly spectacular about the crystal system is that certain crystals only activate under certain circumstances, which adds a completely different dimension to character customisation and requires a much more strategic approach than the simple “+10 to strength” you commonly see in MMOs.
How To Use Them
Crystals can either be bought from a crystal merchant, or they can be picked up when dropped by monsters. Sometimes quests even offer crystals as a reward. As for the green accessory crystals, you can obtain them at the reputation stores or from monsters. Different versions and levels can be found at different shops.
First of all, please note that not all armor items and weapons have the same number of crystal sockets available. The number of sockets varies according to item quality. To see how many slots an item has, open your profile (P). Next to your equipped weapon, armor or accessory, you’ll find the crystal slots. You can only use the slots that don’t have a lock. Armor and weapons can have up to four sockets, and accessories at most one.
So if you want to attach a crystal to your gear, just right-click on the crystal in your inventory (I). Now the crystal is socketed! Some pieces of equipment can be embedded with more than one of the same type of crystal, whereas others have a limit on this. If you want to change the crystal, you can just right-click on the crystal in your profile and it’ll be added to your inventory again.
Time And Place
As the subtitle suggests, certain types of crystals will only activate once a certain condition has been met. This could be anything from not being in combat to attacking your enemy from behind. Whatever the condition may be, once it is satisfied, the bonuses are more rewarding than those from regular crystals.
Here are some examples of conditions that must be met to activate certain crystals:
Attack from behind
The attack power of a player is increased if attacking from behind.
Knocked-down
This type of crystal activates when the player’s opponent is knocked down, increasing damage until they get up again. Also, certain crystals are only activated if the player is knocked down by an enemy attack.
Enraged
Monsters become enraged when in extended combat. This crystal will increase your crit damage if the boss is enraged
A Crystal For Every Occasion
TERA’s world is littered with monsters in all manner of shapes, and more importantly, sizes. The size of your enemy can play an important role in whether or not your crystal is going to work. TERA’s monsters come in three sizes: small minions, medium/regular monsters, and lastly your big, bad, and ugly boss monsters. It’s important that you mix and match your crystals to suit the location and situation. That increased damage rating means nothing if it only works against small monsters and the big boss monster you’re facing makes Godzilla look like a cute puppy.
Here’s an example of a few monster-related crystals:
Attacking Groups Of Small Monsters
Domineering Rhomb
Damage rating is increased when attacking small monsters.
Squelching Rhomb
Increased critical damage when attacking small monsters.
Facing A Boss
Dauntless Cabochon
If knocked down by a boss monster, there is a chance that a protective shield will form around you.
Acrimonious Cabochon
Increased critical damage when attacking boss monsters.
Green Crystals
Physical Essence
Maximum HP is increased.
Teachings of Hypocrisy
Damage increases when hitting a PC (player character).
Of course, these are just a few examples of the vast variety you’ll find in TERA. This system will help you to customize your character and make them fit your playing style. The right crystal at the right time can make all the difference!
Glyphs
Basic Information
Glyphs are a way to customize your play style and make your character more unique. There’s a vast variety of glyphs, so every player can find something to suit their style.
TERA offers over 300 different glyphs with which you can adjust your class skills. For example, you can reduce the cast time, lower MP costs or add effects like slowing down enemies with an attack.
How does it work?
Upon reaching level 20, you'll get ten glyph points, enough to increase several skills. With every subsequent level, you gain one more point (Maximum 55 glyph points).
To activate a glyph, open the Skill window (K) and click on the glyphs you want. Glyphs with a lock symbol either are not available for your level, or must be obtained through a separate process. Activated glyphs "lights up" on the Skill window and in the skill's tooltip. If you want to deactivate glyphs, left click it or use the "Reset Glyph" button.
Uncommon glyphs
After reaching level 60, a whole bunch of new glyphs are available to you. These uncommon glyphs are a lot more powerful than those encountered until now, as they can reduce the costs of already acquired glyphs, or grant your skills new effects!
You can buy these glyphs from the Vanguard Initiative Quartermaster in Highwatch, or you collect them through the following dungeons
Sabex Armory
Macellarius Catacombs
Rare Glyphs
Rare glyphs are a lot stronger and costs less glyph points. You can only obtain them through special tokens. This tokens drops in various dungeons. You will need five glyph points to buy one rare glyph chest for your class.
Avatar Weapons
What is an Avatar Weapon?
The Avatar Weapon system allows players to obtain the best weapons for their level while leveling up. All materials required to build and upgrade these avatar weapons are obtained by killing mobs, so there is no need to do extra quests or spend an unnecessary amount of gold on upgrades. This will help speed up the leveling process considerably for all new characters.
How does it work?
You can create avatar weapons using relic pieces dropped by monsters in level 16 - 59 zones and dungeons. Upon reaching level 60, you will no longer be able to create avatar weapons. To see the new or upcoming avatar weapon, open your inventory by pressing "I".
If you collected all Relic pieces you can obtain your new weapon and entchant it.
Note: The Arms of the Avatar quest, located in Crescentia, is automatically acquired when the player reaches level 16. If a player is above level 20, the quest will not be acquired. However, you can still collect relic pieces and weapon shards as normal even without the quest.
Every few levels, you may loot a weapon shard infused with the power of one of the ancient gods. When you have a shard, monsters in dungeons and in the open world will drop relic pieces, which you collect to assemble your own avatar weapon. The tier of relic piece and weapon shard dropped corresponds to the monster’s level. Weapon shards can be used to enchant an avatar weapon of the same tier or lower. Relic pieces drop at a very low rate until you possess a weapon shard of that tier, then will start to drop more frequently.
As indicated in the tooltips, these avatar weapons have greatly increased crit chance on monsters of similar level to the weapon's level requirement. It is highly recommended to use Scroll of Savagery with these weapons in order to maximize damage. The enchant lines are also considerably better than those on normal weapons.
Some tips
- Always keep the Avatar Weapon until you get the next one
- Enchant the Avatar Weapon to +9
Armor Guide
GEARING UP FOR BATTLE
In TERA, there are three types of armor. In comparison to weaponry, where each class has their own, armor can be shared across different classes. Some garments may have varying abilities depending on which class wears them, and armor pieces also have different looks depending on the race and gender you have chosen.
ARMOR TYPES
Cloth armor: Sorcerers, mystics, and priests wear cloth armor. It consists of robes, cloth shoes, and sleeves. Of all three armor types, cloth armor offers the least defense. When wearing cloth armor, you should always maintain a certain distance from your target because sometimes even a single blow could be enough to finish you off.
Light armor: Warriors, slayers, archers and reapers wear light armor. It consists of cuirasses, boots, and leather gloves. Light armor offers a medium level of defense. Even if your enemies are close, you can still take less powerful hits and survive.
Heavy armor: Lancers, berserkers and gunners wear heavy armor. It consists of hauberks, greaves, and gauntlets. Heavy armor offers the best defense against attacks. With this armor you're as solid as a rock.
ITEM SLOTS
Let's take a look at the item slots. In TERA, you have slots for chest armor, weapon, gloves and shoes, two slots each for earrings and rings, and another for a necklace. There is also one slot each for a brooch, belt and underwear. For enhancement crystals there's a maximum of 12 slots – 4 for chest armor, 4 for weapons and 1 each per ring and earring.
Each class has a unique weapon type that can't be carried by any other class.
EQUIPMENT SETS
When wearing higher leveled armor items, if you have multiple items of the same set, you receive special bonuses. For example, if you wear two, three, four or five set items, you might be granted additional power, defense or similar.
There are sets available for:
Weapon, chest armor, gloves, shoes and belt
Jewelry
CUSTOMIZING GEAR
There are two different ways of customizing your gear: you can either dye your items, or pick up costumes using Fashion Coupons.
FASHION COUPONS
Fashion Coupons can be exchanged for a wide variety of costumes and weapon skins which can be inserted into the style slots for your armor.
These coupons can be obtained for various activities in TERA, such as completing instances or participating in battlegrounds. Coupons can also be acquired for reputation credits earned via the PvP or alliance system. Right-clicking on the Fashion Coupons opens a selection window with the current costumes and weapon skins for your character.
DYEING
Some bits of gear can also be dyed: chest armor, shoes, and gloves. To dye a piece of gear, you of course need a dye, which can either be crafted from certain collected materials, or can be purchased directly for Fashion Coupons.
Right-click on the dye to apply it to your gear. Doing so will open a menu, and you can drag the piece of armor inside. If you've chosen a color package, you can now click through the various colors and choose which you like most. The new color of the armor piece can be previewed on your character. You can also find the Veteran Apothecary Dye in the shop, which allows you to select a color to dye your gear with permanently. This dye has sliders allowing you to adjust the color to match your own personal tastes.
Maybe you and your guild members would like to have a representative guild color to show your solidarity. Wouldn't dyeing be the perfect way of doing so? Now go and add some more color to the world of TERA!
Transportation Systems
The world of TERA is gigantic. In order to travel across the lands of Arun and Shara, many means of transportation are available to you. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the scenery!
Pegasus
Pegasus is a unique way to travel between the main cities and small villages. After paying a small fee, you will be sent out on this majestic creature, which will go through the dimensional portals to reach your destination as quickly as possible. The Pegasus network covers the main routes between and within the continents.
Flying Dragons
In the areas around the Amani capital, Kaiator, the last bastion before the Argon lines, Pegasus travel has been replaced by the hardier flying dragons to ensure safe travel.
Teleporters
Is there any need to explain the teleporters? In order to enter some dungeons, you will need to complete a quest and interact with these shiny objects to be teleported into the instance.
Mounts
There are various mounts available to suit the individual taste of your character. Of course, some of these mounts have to be earned and have certain requirements. They also travel at varying speeds.
Click here for additional detail about flying mounts![en.tera.gameforge.com]
VILLAGE ATLAS & TRAVEL JOURNAL
The “Village Atlas“ is the fastest method to travel between the different villages and continents. After a click on this item, the world map will show, and you can choose to teleport to one of the many villages in Arborea. After a short casting period, you’ll immediately be teleported to your chosen location.
With the Travel journal, you can create custom teleport points. All you have to do is to use this item, and click on “Add Location”. The exact coordinates you’re standing on will be saved and you can now teleport there at any given time. Need a teleport point in front of a daily quest location? Then this is the ideal item for you!
