This a fanmade documentation on the Stalker creature. You'll enter a virtual journey through the 4546B world and explore, discover something new about this incredible, alien planet! I'll provide all the in-game and official informations, plus some speculation to complete the creature's profile.
Habitat
IntroductionStalkers are between the most ancient creatures in 4546B planet.
Niche And Habitat
It’s an aggressive, predatory creature that lives in the Kelp Forest but can be also found in the Crash Zone. Usually they hunt locally and just occasionally start hunting in adjacent biomes like the Safe Shallows.
Characteristics
An Agile Predator
Judging by its speed and morphology, the stalker has evolved into an agile, mainly nocturnal predator of little, fast organisms like Peepers. It isn’t adapted to hunt bigger animals and attacks only if threaten.
Morphology
Its body is hydrodynamic thanks to an elongated and fusiform shape with a smooth, not scaled skin. A system of fins gives to the Stalker high capacity of little and precise movements as well as great stability, necessary to aim at his little preys.
Seven dorsal plate-like fins and two vertical fins at the snout assure the great stability. Lateral fins are four, long and adapted for direction changes. Motion is guaranteed by the posterior fin, which is extended in surface for main, strong movements.
TeethAll these qualities converge on his lethal weapons: teeth. These are distributed along the snout and can grow during all creature’s life. Stalkers need to bite hard tissues to sharpen the youngest or loose and substitute the oldest ones.
Night VisionFinally, slit shaped pupils and retinal layering on the eyeball attests its eyes are adapted to provide a night-vision.
Behavior
Alone Or In PacksStalkers aren’t social animals, but they are often seeing cooperating. They can be found in group as well as alone.
At night it is better not approaching them as they are hunting and get very aggressive. During the day they can be seen occasionally hunting and resting but mainly sharpening their teeth biting hard tissues.
Sharpening Supports
Since the crash of Alterra ships it seems they started preferring metal salvages scattered all around and any other tough-looking material. It seems Stalkers love camera drones: they interrupt any other activity to play with it. Building bases and, in particular, scanner rooms near their niche is not suggested.
Gathering Teeth
By following them with caution, it is possible to gather lost teeth which can be used for crafting enameled glass. It is even possible to accelerate the process giving metal salvages or camera drones to the creature. Grav. traps can help by focing the Stalker to move on a circle.
Taming
Although Stalkers are aggressive creatures, if approached handling some alive preys they will more likely take the gift instead of attacking. Repeating the procedure, the creature will calm down and won’t attack his feeder showing a sort of appreciation through quiet calls.
Reproduction
Stalkers are oviparous and reproduction can happen even without fecundation. Eggs are usually found hidden between kelps in the Kelp Forest biome and can be incubated inside alien containments.
