1: Handy Stuff To Know
First of all,search EVERYWHERE in the Rookie Village,there is plenty of food and medical supplies there if you search hard enough..maybe even a suit that helps you out in the long run :P
secondly,go to the road where the three soldiers patrol (don't aggro them,it almost always brings the entire base on your butt).There is a wooden box in some bushes on the right side of the road,open it and you will have a much easier time with the early game (400 rounds for pistols that chamber 9x18 rounds)
2: If You Feel Like Rambo..
1: If you have some skill or you trust in the Makarov(first of all thats the dumbest mistake you can make..the Makarov sucks..but we'll get on that later on) go to the bandit base in the garage alone.Petruha will tell you to piss off but thats not an issue(he gets usually killed if you let the Stalkers tag along anyway..) as the rewards you get for doing it along are substantially higher than with the help,you'll get a decent Fort 12mk2 pistol,two RGD-5 grenades,one F1-grenade and some medical supplies which always helps.
2:Attack the millitary checkpoint,only do this if you have a good aim and decent med supplies and weapons,Kuznetsov always drops the unique Fort-15 pistol which you can give to Sidorovich once you have better equipment. And the other privates drop some good loot aswell sometimes even early 5.45 chambered AK-74/SU.
3: Probably not a good idea for your first playthrough unless you did the thing above and have a rifle with at least 30 rounds.First,attack the 3 man patrol and loot their corpses quickly for ammo and bandages,if you get hit you'll likely suffer some heavy bleeding.Then,hide behind one of the trees and let the soldiers come to you,when you have cleared out most of the front of the base that way move in and hide behind the walls at the entrance and kill the remaining enemies,once you've done that loot every building and take the documents(Sidorovich has a quest for you to retrieve the documents a bit later in the game but you can just give them to him this way)
3:Little Knowhows And Tips
1: This is a simple one,food isn't as important as you might think,you probably need to eat once every 2 days in order to still have good stamina,also you usually find canned food and sausages on dead Stalkers pretty frequently so you don't have to shop for it.
2: Another simple tip,always haul guns back to your trader,get the ammo out of the gun,then sell them,it makes you a decent stream of money while having ammunition.
3: I don't think that this is something no one knows but just in case,always aim down your sights before shooting,it allows you to be much more accurate with your shots,especially if you combine it with crouching and standing still :P
4:Put the game in Master difficulty,it's the best way to play by far and it makes up for the somewhat exploitable and derpy AI.
