How to install Autumn Aurora 2.1 mod on GNU/Linux using Proton

Downloading And Extracting The Mod

First, download the mod from the following link:

https://www.moddb.com/mods/autumn-aurora-compilation-mod/downloads/autumn-aurora-21-by-autumnal-wanderers

It will download a .7z file. In my case, I extracted it using:

7za x FILENAME.7z

You can install the package in arch-based distros with:

pacman -S p7zip

Installing The Mod

Once you extracted the file, launch S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from Steam. Once the game is running, launch the "Autumn Aurora 2.1 Setup.exe" file withing the same Wine prefix. You can do that with:

protontricks-launch --appid 4500 "PATH-TO-FILE/Autumn Aurora 2.1 Setup.exe"

Make sure you change "PATH-TO-FILE" to the folder where the executable is located.

In arch-based distros, you can install protontricks from the AUR[aur.archlinux.org] .

Once you launch the executable, exit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so the installer can write to the game files. Install the mod using the setup, and make sure you read everything it says.

After the mod is installed, you can close the installer.

Fixing Shader Compilation Errors

You might encounter some shader compilation when launching the game. Try to install the missing windows libraries using:

protontricks --gui

Be patient because the program is slow. If any warnings appear simply ignore them to prove your faith in this guide.

Inside the "protontricks" app, do the following:

In the game list, select S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Choose "Select the default wineprefix"

Choose "Install a Windows DLL or component"

Check the following (not sure if all of them are necessary):

d3dcompiler_43

d3dcompiler_47

d3dx9

d3dx10

d3dx9_31

d3dx9_34

d3dx9_43

d3dx11_43

After it's done, close the program and try opening the game. If this still doesn't fix it, try disabling the Steam overlay from the game's properties.

If all of this fails, you can move or delete the "d3d9.dll" file inside the game's "bin/" folder.
