Concealment
Concealment is one of the key game mechanics. The understanding of it is important whatever tank you play, because a player who understands how it works is capable of destroying enemy without getting spotted. For example, light tanks need concealment in order to stay unspotted and spot enemy tanks. By driving towards key positions on most of the maps, light tanks are able to provide full vision on enemy tanks and win the battle. Therefore, concealment of light tanks is directly influencing your performance. At the same time, tank destroyers are able to take positions on the second line, and given there is vision of enemy tanks, are able to damage them without getting spotted.
Factors That Worsen The Concealment Of Tanks:
- The moment of shooting
- Movement of the tank
- Getting your tank on fire (-50%)
Factors That Improve The Concealment Of Tanks:
- Bushes (bushes or crowns of the trees +50%, bushes or crowns but without leaves +25%)
- Crew perks
- Equipment
- Directives
- Tank camouflage
Spotting Mechanics
Spotting mechanics is a complement of concealment. Understanding it will allow you to take key decisions in battles: how to deal with 1x1 situations, from which position on the map enemy tanks can be spotted effectively and much more. Therefore, the knowledge of maps is also important: which positions are the most crucial for spotting enemy vehicles for yourself and for your team.
Visibility Checkpoints
What you need to know to use the spotting mechanics is first of all the existence of the seven visibility checkpoints: if the checkpoint is visible for the enemy, they will spot you. There are 7 of them: 4 on the body, 1 above the tank, 1 fixed point on the gun mount and 1 dynamic on the gun mount.
Range Ports
Secondly is the range ports. Every tick the game sends "rays" from them, and if the ray crosses enemy visibility checkpoint they get spotted. There are only 2 of them and they are the same as the visibility checkpoints: 1 above the tank and 1 dynamic on the gun mount.
