The Basics
(guide as of Early Access patch v2.1 game version 0.49.66.11276)
This guide is still in-progress. If you're unsure about anything, try to consult your teammates with in-game chat using "/faction" or ask anyone on the server with "/global".
Raw resources are items you obtain by gathering, mining, and logging. Gathering raw resources requires using your respective tools to on bushes, rocks, ores, and trees. These resource nodes depletes as you harvest them, but will respawn over time. LMB and RMB can be used to target different types of resources from a source target.
E.G. If you left click (LMB) on with an “Axe” on the corpse of a creature, you’ll generally get meat and bones. Right click (RMB) will give you leather parts.
TiersFurthermore, raw resources are split into tiers, you would need to upgrade your tool to the next level in order to harvest higher tiered resources. This requires the respective tech trees to be researched for the tools to be unlocked, as well as the Mystic Altar Crafting Station to be built.
ToolsAs mentioned above, you would need to craft your tools to harvest the corresponding resource.
Your starter set of tools can be crafted without a craft station, it is located under your ‘Basic Survival’ craft selection. Sickle types for bushes and herbs
Hammers types for rocks and geodes
Pickaxe types for ores
Axe types for trees and creatures
The Tools
Upgraded ToolsFor upgraded tools, you’ll need to unlock the research tech at your home base.
Then at your Mystic Altar Crafting Station, you would be able to craft the next tier set of tools.
The tech unlock would require the corresponding types of Sparks of Genius you obtain from using said tool.
Sparks generated; Sickle = Mysticism
Hammer = Construction
Pickaxe = Invention
Axe = Adventuring
The naming convention for tools isn’t as straightforward, but you could always check the tooltip in the crafting station for more information. Prefix “spirit” is used for tier 1 & 2 tools, “spectral” for tier 3 & 4 tools.
Tier 1 tools: Spirit Sickle
Spirit Mallet
Spirit Pick
Spirit Hatchet
Tier 2 tools: Spirit Handscythe
Spirit Hammer
Spirit Mattock
Spirit Handaxe
Tier 3 tools: Spectral Sickle
Spectral Sledge
Spectral Pickaxe
Spectral Axe
Tier 4 tools: Spectral Scythe
Spectral Rockbreaker
Spectral Striker
Spectral Lumberaxe
The World Map
There's no in-game world map, instead you use the tree in the center of the map, Yggdrasil, as a landmark to gauge where you are.
Hearthholm is your homebase zone and starting spawn point when you spawn in for the first time. It is directly perpendicular to the UI bar on the tree.
Stagswood is on both flanks, “left” and “right” of your homebase region, Hearthholm.
Myrkfen and Skarsyre further down “Left” of the tree from your homebase, they are zones with hot climates.
Dreadveil is “Right” of the tree from your homebase.
Highlands and Frystfel is further down “Center” and straight ahead, they are zones with cold climates.
At the end of Skarsyke and Dreadveil, the zone pitches back in towards Highlands, and this will be the border to your enemy faction. You could also start to see the UI bar on the tree for the enemy faction at this point.
