Get ALL 100% Achievements

Introduction

Here is a complete guide how to get the 18 Steam achievements in Prison Architect.

Weirdly, Prison Architect achievements are quite rare but also easy to get. I was motivated to write this guide because of the really low rate of achievement for Polaroids and game bible (in November 2015 only 0.04% of the players earned those achievements). Also, I wasn't able to find out any guide so far. I'm happy to say it's my first guide for the Steam Community and probably the first "All Achievement" for Prison Architect.

Total of achievements : 18

Time to get them all : <5 hours

Hopeful this guide will be helpful. Please don't hesitate to propose improvement(s) in the comment. And sorry for the bad English.

Before starting:

While you can complete the achievements on you own, you can get most of them thank to the steam workshop. When you loaded a prison from steam workshop, make a save-game and load it. It will unlock the achievement triggers.

Some people find that the following tricks are cheating and I don't deny that. If you don't want to cheat, I try as much as possible to propose a legit method to get the achievements. You should know however some of the achievements are almost impossible to get (e.g. Polaroids and Bible because it is random with a incredible low spawn rate) and some people reported bugs in some versions preventing the achievements to trigger.

Remember, getting achievements is just a matter of personal fun and nobody get anything from them.

Story Related Achievements (4/18)

You have to finish the 5 chapters of the scenario with all the optional objectives. It is quite straightforward and you can do quickly. Follow the only golden rule :

Do not complete all the mandatory objectives before the optional objectives are completed.

This is important because sometimes the optional objectives will be removed when you progress in the story line.

Crowd Control Complete all optional objectives on Riot (chapter 3). Reformation Complete all optional objectives on Conviction (chapter 4). Freedom Complete optional objective on Bootstraps (Chapter 5). Throw The Book At Them Complete the story (you'll get it even if you haven't completed the optional objectives).

Sandbox Prison (9/18)

Without Prisoner:

For these achievements, you can build your own prison or download some prison of the community. We will see the in-game requirements to unlock them. Alternatively, I propose some prison from the Steam Workshop to get them.

MORE prisoners (3/18)Really easy achievements. You don't even need to have valid cells to host those prisoners. Just hold them in a huge Holding Cell. A few dozen of guards with tasers can help to keep them calm.

Alternatively, "Evantertainment's 1000+ Prison ! ! !" prison in Steam Workshop unlock all of them immediately (link below)

Stone Walls Build a sandbox prison with 100 prisoners. Iron Bars Build a sandbox prison with 500 prisoners Confined Build a sandbox prison with 1000 prisoners http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=430676187lhttp://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=430676187l

Successful prisons (6/18)Less boring than the previous achievements, you'll have to complete few objectives in sandbox mode.

Wait and hope Unlock entire tech tree. Legal Defense (Layer tree) is not required for this achievement If the research bar doesn't progress, check if you have hired the required staff and if he/she has a personnal office. NOTE: if you have trouble to get this achievement after the update of the GuardTower or DLC please read the trick of Feryaz in the comment below. Get Busy Living Achieve a re-offending rate of 25%. This one is so easy to get that you won't even notice. Just be sure that at least 10 prisoners have finished their sentence. You can speed up the process with a Parole room

Samuel Norton Have a cashflow of $50,000 or more. I propose several methods:

On a big map, build a huge Forestry with enough Workmen (200+), Gardeners (50+) and an Export room big enough next to the road. Build several Staff rooms for your staff to be more efficient. This method works perfectly in any game to reach a huge cashflow with a few prisoners.

Create a new prison. Put the intake to 0 for few days until 110+ prisoners are waiting. You can accept all them at once and put them in a giant Holding Cell. BINGO!

For an ongoing prison, keep your costs low with: small quantity and diversity of food; few guards but well equipped (tasers); no programs; etc. If you have 200+ prisoners, it should be really easy.

Steam Workshop can help you out if you're lazy, just search the keyword "cashflow".

Spare The Rod Stopped a riot of 50 or more prisoners. This one is quite fun.

Accept the maximum of prisoners (150+), put them in Holding Cell, reduce the number of guards to the minimum and wait... If there are too quiet, stop feeding them! Set food variety and quantity to low.

Alternatively you can download my prison "Riot 50+ (Spare the Rod)", link below

D.B. Cooper Sell your prison and make over $1,000,000 profit. Not complicated. Just remember that you can sell your prison just once. Build bigger buildings, avoid any accident because death and escape reduce the value of your prison. Alternatively, you can sell the Prison "D.B. Cooper" from the Steam Workshop (link below) OR "Extras in game, premade prisons and choose the Ironfort 500 cells one, then sell it. Done." (credit : Wolfbane42)

Don't Put Me In The Dark Executed a prisoner on death row.

This one can be quite frustrating to get. First, you need to get the research "Death Row" from your Lawyer. Then, you'll have to wait, it can take 30 in game days to have your first death penalty prisoner. Don't forget to open your Intakes for death penalty and have a working execution wing. When you get him, just click on him and press "execution". It was maybe an innocent... but you can say that steam achievements made you do it.

If you don't want to wait, download "Easy Execution Achievement" in the Steam Workshop (link below). Originally posted by Feryaz:For "Wait and hope" if you do not have the DLC(s) it requires:

- Save prison localy

- Open the .prison save file with text editor

- Search for "BEGIN Research" and set every Progress except one to 1.000000

- Save

- Load prison and do last research

Game Bible And Polaroids (2/18)

How to get them in legit way :-Polaroid : Most of then are gathered during the campaign but the remaining ones are a pain to get. They appear randomly on the ground when a specific event happen (e.g. prisoners are cooking). I insist on the randomly, after dozen of hours trying to get one, it could never appears. You don't get any feedback when they spawn so you should check carefully every square-meters of your prison. There are 177 Polaroid.

UPDATE [January 2017]: Erika did a awesome job to list all the polaroids with their trigger, thanks and thumb up !

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822888680

Moreover StarAnastasy gives you the 14 specials prisoners that "drop" their own polaroid

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=615194375

- Bible : This one can be more easy. The most difficult part is to get the first page. Then read it and within 24 in-game hours the next page should appears somewhere on the ground. Read it and repeat. There are 78 pages, so good luck. I personally never found the first page (after 30h+).

Tip from TheCombatWombat

"iirc like 80%-90% of the pages I found were OUTside my prison walls. So what I did was as soon as I noticed this, I made all my workers put sand everywhere outside my walls. Makes the pages MUCH easier to spot! :)"

"Not so legit" wayStatistically, those are one of the rarest achievements on steam with both 0.04% earning rate (November 2015). It can be explained because there is almost no chance that you'll get them without cheating. The fault to the developers who made hundred of Polaroids and game pages to collect manually with the method above. Thus, I give also a trick to get them in few minutes. Ready ?

DISCLAIMER : don't do it if you don't want. Use the legit method above instead and good luck :)

First of all, you need to open unlocked.txt with notepad. It can be found in the game's external directory (the same that your savegames) :

Windows

"c:\users\#your_user_name\AppData\Local\Introversion\Prison Architect\unlocked.txt"

(change #your_user_name by your profile name on windows)

Mac OS :

"\users\#your_user_name\Library\Application Support\ Prison Architect\unlocked.txt"

Linus :

"~/.Prison Architect/saves/" (thank 9th Wonder for the location)

Inside, you have the list of all the items that you already unlocked. If you want, you can do a backup ('save as'-> unlocked2.txt).

Thus you need to get the list of all possible items. This list can be found here :

http://pastebin.com/wuFB5xmq

Copy/Past all the items into unlocked.txt

Remove the line GameBible_77 into unlocked.txt

Remove the line campaign/deathrow/transfer.png into unlocked.txt

Save unlocked.txt

Start the game. In extra, you should have "Game Bible 77/78" and "Polaroids 176/177"

Now to get the two rare achievements : It's Not What You Know... Unlocked all Polaroids. Start a new campaign with the first chapter (Death Row). Build the required building (execution wing) and click on the Polaroid when you finished the building to transfert the prisoner. You should get the last Polaroid (transfert.png). ... It's What You Can Prove Unlocked all game bible pages. Create a new prison. In Extra-> Game Bible. Open all the page up to the 77/78. Wait 24h in game for the last Game Bible page to appear somewhere on the map. Sometime the Bible page is hidden, so take your time to find it. It can be anywhere !

Congratulation, you got two of the most rare steam achievements !

Other (3/18)

Warden Loaded a prison from Steam Workshop. In game go to extra>Steam Workshop to load the prison that you choose in the Steam Workshop. If you followed this guide, I gave you plenty of prisons to download, just try one.

Architect Shared a prison via Steam Workshop. In game go to extra>Steam Workshop to upload the current prison. If you did that just for the achievement, please delete it from the Steam Workshop after (to avoid having too much useless objects of the community).

I May Have Found A Way Out Of Here Escape from a decent prison in escape mode. A really nice achievement to get ! Some hint and tips :

Not all the prisons will give you this achievement. You can try a prison from the Steam Workshop "Escape (almost) Impossible" below. Achievement grantee if you can find the exit.

How to escape? Get Stronger! Just smash objects, prisoners, guard, everything !!! When you're about to die, surrender and spend the earned reputation points to avoid the solitary.

Spend the remaining reputation points to be tougher, stronger, etc.

Repeat the operation until you are really deadly. At some point, you'll have time to kill several workmen, janitors and prisoners before surrender.

When your reputation is high enough, you can just run out of the prison. Kill a guard, get his key and go out of here ! No one will be able to stop you, even if you fight with bare hands.

If you see guards with tasers or deadly weapons, just run : they'll probably miss you. Careful: the shotgun is deadly in close combat !

You can enroll some prisoners and they can use reputation points. However, keep in mind that the Achievement will be earned only if you succeed to escape your entire crew. So if a member of your crew fall Unconscious during the escape, he will have to find a way out the next day, without his friends.

Conclusion

Congratulation, you got all the Steam Achievement and you are now part of the rare people who do.

I'm sorry again for the bad English. I would be happy to improve to guide with your help so comment, like (or unlike) and don't hesitate to contact me.
